The first CSR told me I would have to close the Orbitz card to move the CL, but once I got over to the credit department, reallocation magically became posssible.
FYI, Orbitz World doesn't report CL (just high balance), whereas SeaMiles reports CL - hence my desire to reallocate.
my Orbitz card does report the cl. i will try to move my other juniper card , regular platinum, again as each time I was told no so far.
Talk to the Juniper credit department directly at 866.408.4064. Good luck.
I was able to reallocate, Apparently juniper will not let you move additional $ onto a CL that is currently under a 0% BT offer. As soon as it expired after 6 months, they allowed me to reallocate |

I have an old Citi MC, and a new Citi AMEX. I couldn't get a CLI on the AMEX b/c opened less than 6 months. Called CSR and succesfully transferred a majority of the CL from MC to AMEX. We all know why the Citi AMEX Dividend is now better than the MC Dividend, right?
Anyhow, now that the 6 months is actually coming around, in the near future, I will request a CLI on both cards, then do the reallocation again. WML! |

Was curious if anyone knows what, if any, issuers can "spin off" and create a daughter card, without a hard pull? Say you have AMEX clear, and you want blue cash, they cut your clear CL down and move a portion to the daughter card. Do any banks do this? I remember reading about this somewhere, but can't find it now. |

Just today I did a move of $3500 in CL from an old plain Citi MC to a Citi Plat Select MC. It was pretty painless -- except they put me on hold for about 10 minutes in the middle of the call TWICE. Showed on the website as soon as I hung up. No 3 business days or anything.
I didn't try to combine in my Citgo card. Maybe next week. It's definitely different in some way... when I log in there is a Citgo logo instead of the Citi one, and I have to use a separate login for it. |

PerfectCard (7 years old) $30K -> $500 Marriot Rewards (brand new) $25K -> $500 Priority Club (brand new) $25K -> $500 Sony Visa (brand new) $1K -> $80K
I have another $10K from chase business I'll try to add shortly. |

I had an issue with BofA.
wanted: WorldPoints Visa 5k-->29k WorldPoints MC 25k-->1k
the CSR claimed it couldn't be done (because it was to a lower APR card?), but then eventually tried it and said it worked.
I actually got: WorldPoints Visa 5k-->30k WorldPoints MC 25k-->0k (closed)
which ticks me off, because I had 25k points that I was about to cash out, and it was one of my older lines. I called to complain, and they will give me an answer in 5-7 days.
Any of you guys have luck getting CSR mistakes like this fixed?
EDIT update: a much more competent CSR called me and asked exactly what I wanted and did it. all is fixed. original problem Friday night, I called to get it fixed Saturday |

Does the card you're reallocating from has to have 0 balance? Or one can do it with the balance on it? Let's say I have two cards 6k with 2k balance and 10k - Can I reallocate 5k from the first to the 2nd, or it will only allow me to reallocate limit-balance (6k-2k=4k),showing my card maxed out? |

From my post above, I had a bad feeling when the CSR was rude and ignorant, turns out she didn't do anything as promised. I kept checking my online account and noticed no change so I called the phone # listed on the back of the card. Got a very good CSR, immediately reallocated the $17K (leaving $600 on that line) and verified other info I asked about. You just have to get the right people...
I also emailed on my Biz account to reallocate to the Sony and got this response. I know there's been no reported successes from reallocating from Business to Personal, but consolidation wouldn't be a bad way to get a higher CL. If it's a new account then you wouldn't even have take an average age score hit? Email below:
"Dear Mr. Goldfinder:
Please be advised that we are unable to transfer the balances between two accounts, however, you have the option of processing a Credit Line consolidation.
To be considered for a Line Consolidation, the following set of conditions must be met:
* Both accounts must be open at the time of the request. You cannot consolidate an open account with a closed account. * Neither account can be overlimit or past due. * Only accounts with a zero balance and no activity (within the last 3 months), qualify for a credit line decreased to zero. * The account with the decreased credit line of zero must be closed when processing the line consolidation. * The entire credit line (before it was reduced to zero) of the closed account must be added to the existing credit line of the account that will receive the credit line increase. * If the account has had activity within the last 3 months, then you will have the option to move a partial credit line amount if the account meets the criteria.
You may wish to contact us at the number listed below to discuss this further. We are available to assist you 24 hours a day, seven days a week." |

No.
only allow me to reallocate limit-balance (6k-2k=4k),showing my card maxed out?
Yes. And, even if they allow it to be maxed out, the standard FW advice is no more than 90%. |

Citi restriction I ran into recently was this. No credit line tranfers between Consumer and Business cards. IE, Dividend MC and CitiProfessional. BLAH! |

01LX - Why is the Citi AMEX Dividend better than the Citi MC Dividend?
I'm wondering because I use the MC Dividend Plat Select and have no complaints so far. I'm just worrying they're going to switch my 5% gas/groceries/drugstores to the 2% rate they're giving everyone else right now. |

I'm hoping they don't change THAT any time soon. I noticed the current AMEX offer is 2%. |

Does anyone know if HSBC bank allows conversion of cards?
For example I am interested in the new Best Buy reward zone mastercard (because I shop there alot) and I was wondering if anyone has had sucess in converting cards because I don't want to open a new account at this time (because of the inquery)
Could I convert say a GM Card or a regular Best Buy store card to the R.Z. MC ? |

I was able to move line from my Charles Schwab Visa to BOA Power Rewards(now Worldpoints) today. I was worried I wouldn't be able to because the Schwab is a "branded" card, and I had read that there were difficulties doing this kind of reallocation, but a quick 3 min phone call was all it took. I was very surprised. |

My Chase Results:
I was attempting to move 24.5k from an older personal credit line to a new business line (currently $16.5k).
Was told by the CSR that the following conditions need to be met in order to reallocate:
- Accounts must be open 6 mo.
- New combined CL cannot exceed $35k
This differs slightly from others results here, I believe, so I thought I'd add my experience as an additional data point.
