Which citi card do you have? I have the Associates card which later became a citi card. But everytime I clicked on the Request for credit line increase, it always brought me to the form. I am assuming since Associates is not a direct citi card, the system is slightly different.

me too, i got the same card and use to beable to get instant increases but once citi took over the form keeps coming up!!!!!

This was for a new line, with an up to $30K @ 2.9 for life solicitation. The terms were typical CapOne. Oddly, they didn't actually pull Experian as I was expecting, and neither did USB. I guess I'll hang for a few and see what comes in the mail.

DaveHanson said:I'm confused jclark--was this 30K offer for a new card then? If so, what were the other terms? If not, is the line already 30k or with this BT increase the line?

With those scores, I don't think you have to worry--you should get a large line.

This has probably been discussed, but is it generally wise to keep each AMEX personal CC CL below a certain figure ?

20k and 25k have been mentioned before as potential criteria for getting frozen and audited by AMEX, especially for those who prepay to spend more than their CL in one billing cycle. Or was it just those that spent more than 1x their AMEX CL who were more likely to get audited ?

In trying to keep this thread on topic, for the younger crowd, I think it would help if you state your age. I'm 25 and have $25,700 in available credit lines (but that is with 6 cards, with Bank of American being the largest at 9K - a recently obtained one)

Currently had a $16500 with Bank One.

Just got off the phone right now, I requested a CL to 25K.
CSR just ask me for my household income.
Ran a credit check ( it was okay for this one ).
Put me on hold to talk with credit dept, said I would get a decision within 5-7 days via mail.
She asked if this was okay, I said I wanted to know now because some of my promo BT rates for other cards will be ending within the next couple of days (not really though ).
She said okay, put me on hold, she came back on line, said I was approved.
She asked if I wanted to do any BT's now, I said I need to go home and gather the info.

That was it.

I just just checked my account online and it has been updated to 25K !

-----

On another note, I am currently in the process of icreasing DISC to 25K, I was initially declined, letter stated " suffciently obligated ". Last week, I disputed the decision, I wrote a certified letter to the Corporate office.
I am still waiting on the return letter or answer.

My plan is to bump up my CL's to 25K.....
Once I do, I will start out with a mini App O Rama...

Forgot to mention mu CL Utilization is 7-8% right now

After paying off virtually all of her outstanding balances (i.e., all but 4K out of 40K available credit) and waiting for her credit reports to update, my wife applied for the MBNA Merrrill Lynch card and they gave her a 25K CL @ 5.9%. The highest reported CL she had prior to that was 18.5K on her Chase I-card.

BTW, I clicked on the Request for credit line increases a few days ago and it brought me to an automatic increase of $1,000. Thanks to sinik it was increased without a any hard pulls.

I used to get the page w/ the automatic increase (or in my case denial) on Citi site, but recently all I've been getting is that form to fill out for a CC increase.

Quick Examplw

I recently applied for a CL increase for DISC to 25K. I did the request over the phone with a CSR..I was declined. I should have requested to s/w a analyst, but I ddi not bother..

A couple of days later, I received a letter from DISC, stating I was declined because I was " sufficiently obligated ". This made no sense to me. My credit Util is below 10%!

Instead of calling DISC back, I wrote a friendly certified letter to the Corporate Office. Why? I have had better luck writing letters directly to the CEO's etc ( there is another thread on this somewhere as well, on writing letters ). I was in no hurry.

About 2 weeks later, I received a message from the Executive Office ( secretary ) I believe ) asking for a return call.

I just called her back today
Extremely friendly Rep, she explained the reason I was declined was because there automated system recognized my HELOC as revolving Why? Because WF reports HELOC ( in most cases as revolving, mentioned in another thread as well ) So, put my application or threw up a Red Flag on it.

Once she explained why I was declined( she went in to extreme detail ), she then asked in order to approve my request, I need to fax over Inc Doc OR she would call my CPA. Wow! The only thing she would ask my CPA, is an " approx " range of Income, nothing exact. No problem at for me.

Currently, I just need to call her back and leave the #. She will follow up and return a courtesy call to me once everything is finished.

I do not want to get to greedy, but when I call I wil see if I could get a larger CL than 25K. It will not hurt.

My experience with this scenario so far includes many topic mentioned here in various threads..

1) HELOC reported as REVOLVING-WF for me..this did hurt my request initially
2) Writing a letter to a Company-I have had very good luck in the past, so far so good here.
3) How to get a CL Inc to 25K-about a 3 week turn around time

NOW, if I could only get a CL of 25K +

Hope my example may help others as well.

Just remembered to update my situation. DISC called my CPA, couple of days later I was approved for a $25K CL. I checked online to verify as well

TheGrayMan said:I had requested that MBNA raise my limit from $15K to $25K, but they only gave me $20K. I'll probably make an other request for an increase in about 6 mos.UPDATE: I re-tried my request for $25K from MBNA about four months later and it was approved for the full amount with no problem at all.

In the interim I had sold a property and paid off the corresponding mortgage and HE loan. I'm not sure if MBNA's willingness to grant the larger line was due to the loans being paid off or simply that they prefer to grant increases in smaller chunks.

Citi regularly gves me a $1.5K increase on both cards i have (at least the last two times i tried, 4 month interval) without any hard pulls.

AMEX takes the cake though, i clicked on the "increase my limit" & they gave me 4K increase without a hard pull

Same with me. Went from $3,000 to $14,600 on the AMEX Blue Cash within 6 months, with no hard pulls. Then I applied for the TrueEarnings card and was approved for $5,000. I called the CSR and asked to have all my CL transferred to the TrueEarnings card. He said I'd have to leave $2,000 on the Blue to keep it open. So I check online a couple days later, and I have $15,700 on the TrueEarnings and $14,600 on the Blue. Thanks AMEX. I'll call again in a couple months to transfer the CL over again, up to that $25,000 ceiling.

[UPDATE]
Went online and I guess the CSR's computer finally caught up. The Blue CL was down to $2,000. Clicked the button for CL increase, and I'm instantly back up to $14,600 again! I'll wait a couple billing cycles to request a CL transfer again.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like something I'd like to try out myself.

*bump* for an excellent thread

Thanks for the bump and the updates all... I'll update the OP at some point, several changes to make...

FYI- I just noticed that my Fleet Visa (now Bank of America) has a link on their online banking website (mycard.fleet.com) to increase your credit limit. I clicked on it just to see what it did, and it took me to a page that asked what my income was, and when I submitted a number it immediately increased my limit by $2000. The terms of use said that you can do this online every 9 months.

Did it pull your score as well?

Discover card is very stingy with their credit limit increases.

I find them by far the most difficult!
