Directv pulled a hard on me last year, when I first contacted them for installation. I ended up cancelling the installation, and then finally had it done this past July, and they did NOT pull a hard again.
I disputed the hard with Equifax, and it was removed. |

Local Honda dealer also insisted on pulling a 3-bureau report when I was buying a car with a check + 5K credit card in Feb. He had me fill out the credit app. form authorizing this, and I realized the impact and protested the need with a cash transaction... he said he wanted to know who was buying his car or whatever. As my credit report wasn't exactly one for the extra inquiry to make a difference and I needed to buy a car that day I agreed, and the dealer learned I applied for credit frequently and had HUGE outstanding balances (on recent 0% offers), but no matter as my credit is fine as far as no negatives ever over a 15 year history. |

I almost forgot about this but the previous poster reminded me....
the local Nissan dealer (Coral Springs Nissan Auto Mall) pulled a HARD one when I browsed their inventory, u know the game, gives us ur name & ss no , didnt even have me sign an authorization..... they treated us so badly that me & the wife just left. The guy actually said something like "How can u refuse such a hot deal....?" My wife was like " Watch us walk out on ya ". The look on the manager's face was small compensation. I realized a month later that they had pulled my report, that made me even more mad.
Oh we had not even talked about financeing! We wanted to pay cash.
I guess this is SOP for most car dealers though. |

I opened accounts with Everbank -- FreeNet Checking and Foreign Currency CD.
They did TWO different inquiries, both EXP.
I called to ask about this, and was told that this wouuld happen every time I opened up a new foreign currency CD. I pointed out the lunacy of this, was told that a support request would be filed etc for someone to get back to me.
A couple days later I received another call from someone who explained that this was only happening since I opened up the accounts for the first time, and that the inquiries were coded as "non-credit accounts aka deposit accounts so the other institutions know you are not requesting credit."
This seems like BS to me. I assumed a hard pull = hard pull, regardless of the circumstances.
Anyone have any additional info or prior experience with this? |

Even though I have had a checking account for 6 months with CitiBank, they pulled a hard TU inquiry when I opened a regular savings account inside a bank branch. |

I used the free Experian credit report link to check on my report and found that Wells Fargo had pulled a report on me in December 2003. Here's the thing: I don't have an account with Wells Fargo and have never applied or had any dealings with them.
How do I go about finding out what this inquiry pertains to and can I have it removed from my credit file? |

Was it a "hard pull" or simply an inquiry for marketing purposes? |

I am still wondering if anyone has any information about this. I called them again today about it (a few months since I last asked them about it) and they again say that it does not hurt my credit since it's a "deposit inquiry." They also say there is nothing they can do to remove the inquiries. |

They certainly can and certainly should do it. I was able to get rid some of this bogus hard inquires from some credit grantor. You just have to insist they to do it. |
