Correct. Presidential does pull. Superior Savings did not.

DCU (Digital Federal Credit Union) pulls a hard inquiry from Equifax when applying for membership.

I have no idea if this has been mentioned so far.....but if anyone pulls a hard on your report(s) without permission (non permissible purpose) then you are entitled to $1,000.

Check out creditboards.com if you think someone has done this without your permission. I'm tired of hard pulls being on my credit reports for 2 years when I didnt give permission for it!!

Meadows Credit Union pulled a hard on Transunion

I opened a bank account with Citibank and they pulled not one, but two hard Experian checks . I don't recommend it.

Yeah, me too - but only one.
I would not deal with Citibank if it was the last bank on the face of the earth - they messed everything up when I tried to open a checking account with them and my credit is perfect.

You must have opened a checking account in order to get a free iPod. Citi screwed up everything. I'd had very bad experience with Citi. My friend was greedy of getting a free iPod and tried to open a checking account with them. Guess what? Citi warned they had to pull a credit inquiry on my friend!!!

It wasn't the Ipod deal; it was $100 free for opening a checking acct. They put me thru such a third degree in order to open a stupid checking account that I finally told them to go fry.
After sending the (very) numerous things they asked for they then came back and told me I had to send more; or I didn't have to send what the last CS person told me to so why did I, or I didn't send anything when I should have; or 'now you won't need to send anything else' - and then I'd be informed that I NOW had to send xxx. It got to the point where it just wasn't worth the effort. Each customer service person completely contradicted the previous one. On top of this they wanted a complete copy of my income tax and then they did a hard credit report inquiry. Enough was enough.
If Citibank offered me an Imac G5 with a 20 inch LCD I wouldn't do a deal with them

if you pay with a debit card, many car rentals are doing hard pulls.

T-Mobile for cell phone service on Transunion. For employment purpose at Johnson & Johnson by Yale & Associates on Experian. I'm in NJ. BTW, both informed me before pulling HARD one.

Don't think this was posted. I recently got Dish Network and was looking at my credit report the other day and saw that they did a hard pull on me. It wouldn't be a big deal but they did NOT tell me that this was being done! Not sure if Directv does this also...

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT
******* Savings Bank
To help government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.

I am sure this is mentioned somewhere, but I can't find it.

does ameritrade pull a hard when opening an account?

alert mods

can anyone tell me of an online brokerage that DOES NOT pull a hard credit check?

ex24.com??

alert mods

Everbank.com - checking account - conflicting CSR statements, mostly insisting all they needed was "address verification" - finally one spoke to their legal dept AFTER I had opened account, and conceded that they probably did a HARD INQUIRY.

Lesson: call and speak to someone senior (like a V.P.?), or even better to get it in writing/email BEFORE you open the account.

I tried to start a thread for which banks use Chexsystems & which do hard pulls, and was redirected here. My interest is primarily in which ones use Chexsystems, and I don't find that covered here at all. Guess I shouldn't have even included the reference to hard pulls, then my thread might've been allowed.

But if they want Chexsystems information to be here, that's OK by me; I guess the word doesn't really need to be in the title, since anyone doing a thorough search will find it.

So, hereby expanding this thread: Anyone with knowledge of which banks use Chexsystems when you apply for an account, please post here!

Or -- if I should try again to start a thread just asking which banks use Chexsystems, please let me know -- I'm willing to give it a shot.
