This card is for invitation only.

As many people received the second round of invitations recently. I update OP to reflect this

The original invitations in March gives phone # 1-800-458-5189 to apply, new invitation in Nov is 1-800-819-5965

In Oct. they changed the term, so that we do not need to call 1-800-799-2329 for redemption, the customer service phone # 1-800-477-6000 will handle this.

Update1:
And I just noticed the rebate information is available online and by call 1-800-477-6000, you can make redemption online and by phone too.

This card is falt 2% Cash Back on all purchase. My card doesn't mention the cap and I haven't received mails about changes yet, but new invitation is saying the annual cap is $400

The rebate check come back slow, you should expect to wait for about 4 weeks. But it will come, I have received 3 checks already.

Update2:
Waa, I received my rebate check, it is truly unexpected, great Xmas gift for myself. Used their online system to request check on 12/12, it is mailed on 12/17, and received on 12/23. Faster than before. And the Check under the title of "Union Plus Cash Rewards Program", I nearly throw the envelop away.

Requested another check on 1/1/05 for both Citi Dividend and Household, Citi arrived on 01/10, Household arrived on 01/12.

Fine print:

You earn 2% Cash Back on purchases you make with your household Bank Cash Back Rewards Card redeemable in $25 increments. There are no limits to the amount of Cash Back rewards you can acquire within an account year. Unless used or terminated, Cash Back rewards will expire on December 31st of the fifth year following the year in which the rewards were earned. Use of the household Bank Cash Back Rewards Card is subject to the household Bank Cash Back Rewards Program Rules and Conditions which will be supplied to all new cardmembers. household Bank reserves the right to change the Program Rules and Conditions.

IMHO, it is OK card and worth to apply for.

ewww...household!

have a phone # listed in the solicitation or website?

annual cap on rewards?

it is 1-800-458-5189 householdbank.com/applynow

the letter has an acceptance code on it.

The letter says no caps/year

looks like you need the acceptance code from the letter. I didn't find any mention of a general 2% product from Household anywhere else.

sounds like a great card to me. best one in a long long long time, in fact. heck, better than FBB (and no one, not household or anyone else, can be worse than Farm Bureau Bank) hope they invite me!

maybe the > 1% cards are not dead after all ...

<< Just received one pre-selected letter about this card.

2% Cash Back, Everything, Everytime.

0% APR Purchase and BT for 6 months

Reward is redeemablein $25 increments, expired after 5 years

Not seeing other requirement. Normal APR is little bit higher (14.74%), and BT or CA fee is 5%

Anyone has experience with Household Bank? any good?
>>

When I called Household Bank about the 2% offer, the CSR laughed, saying that no such Mastercard exists, and that it never will.

Has anyone else received an offer for a Household Bank Mastercard with 2% cash back?

CornHusker,

Do you mind scanning the letter, blurring out personal information?

it is true, i have no scanner by hand, sooooo

i just received it yesterday...

Thanks for the info -- but could you give a little more? Could you please at least post the name of the card ("Household Cash Rewards" or whatever)? Fine print details (annual caps, etc) of course would alos be appreciated, if you have time. Thanks.

Household MC and rewards? What an oxymoron. Just doesn't fit.

As a wannabe bookie, I'm now taking in bets for how long this card will last, assuming it does exist.

Can anyone confirm or deny the existence of a such a card.

I think I have stated the things you asked before

The card is named HouseHold Bank Cash Back Rewards Card
no annual caps.

Fine print:

You earn 2% cash back on purchases you make with your Household Bank Cash Back Rewards Card redeemable in $25 increments. There are no limits to the amount of cash back rewards you can acquire within an account year. Certain restrictions, limitations and exclusions apply, and benefits may not be available in every state. Coverage is underwritten and adminstered by companies not affiliated with MasterCard or Household Bank. Full details about these programs will be provied when you cecome a cardmember.

UPDATE: I just spent 30 mins on the phone with Household Bank.

It turns out that the card DOES exist.

But it looks like the marketing campaign won't start for about another 2 weeks. (brand-new program).

Is it open to everyone? It sounds too good to be true. There must be a hitch.

I bet it will be discontinued in about a year----another bait and switch.

I think my GM Card is through Household. I wonder if they will let me switch.

I asked. The rep. said "no." But it might change to a "yes." Household is anything but consistent.

Heres whats going to happen:

1. They roll out the card
2. Every FW member and lurker starts charging up the max every month to get rewards but never carrying a balance to pay interest.
3. They see the rewards program is costing them a LOT more than anticipated.
4. They kill the program within months.

I would think they should know better and anticipate that happening.

you give them more "credit" than they deserve (no pun intended)

Thanks CornHusker!

Wow, this would be a cool card if I can get it. What localities & customer types received the mailings?

SIS I absolutely agree with you. A non-tiered, uncapped, straight 2% reward that is open to everyone (as opposed to i.e. Advanta) will get so many high-spender from all Finance and FF boards that it erases the profits.

Advanta, old program, at least limited the applicants to business owners.

4. They kill the program within months.

I say the program will last at least a year, so get the card and load up while you can.

FYI: ATT 5% reward is back -- promotion good until Sept 2004. See
ATT Link

Citi Platinum 5% reward on supermarket, gas and drug purchase until March 2005

Edit: Thanks to mr bean for pointing out the wrong link.

The link you gave was for Citibank Plat. Promotion is good without expiration - if you go through the website.
But 5% is only on graceries, pharmacy and gas.

How long did Farm Bureau and Principal Bank CC last?
FBB was pretty long, at least more than one year.
PB visa is extremely short, only 3 months.

2% everything, no cap is sweeeeeet.

Principal's cash back card is still around. What are you referring to?

I assume he referred to the reward-earning BT.

Could be. It's still one of the best cards out there though even without that feature.

Anyone else get this offer in the mail?

Clocks said:

<< Anyone else get this offer in the mail? >>

thats what i would like to know....i currently dont have any cards from household, so maybe theyll solicit me...

On a side note, since I went on My Application O Rama, I havent received a single mailed solicitation!

Update bump

I just got off the phone with india I mean HouseHold Bank they said it would be a couple of weeks. Looks like a good card

Couple of weeks until what? Is that when you get the card, or is that when they officially start to offer it?

Clocks said:

That's when the marketing campaign starts.

Clocks said:

Just got it today.

And it's 2% on everything? Do they send a check or is it a credit to your account?
