A few websites I have come across mention that Microsoft Money 2005 is supposed to be available starting today (e.g. or). Otherwise, a quick google/FW search has turned up scant info on this new release. Wondering if any FWers have the scoop (new features, new deals, etc.)?

I am using Money 2004 -- the deals attached to it more than made up for the cost I paid for it and I have been relatively pleased with the software itself except for a few items (e.g. trying to get enter mortgage refi info sux). Will there be good deals to make up for the upgrade cost to 2005? Will the new features be worth the hassle to upgrade?

I can definately say that it will not be available today, and not just because it's already midnight.

Well, for those who are interested, it looks like some info is starting to bubble up on the web about Money 2005. I've heard speculation about a Sept release...but who knows.

The beta is complete...there might even be Yodlee integration (last post)

Note: the above link is a bit unreliable, here was the most interesting quote to me:
Posted by mostym on 03 Aug 2004 - 04:59 I imported all of my data from money 2004. And everything is functional. Also, I believe they have incorporated functionality from Yodlee, to provide more online banking functionality and options which is a plus! This version is far better than the previous versions. Money 2005 is more Web Interface, so instead of Money driving to the Web, the Web drives Money.

Again, I'm interested in any info folks come across. Flame me if this thread is misplaced or inappropriate. I can take it. Really!

PC Magazine: Money Edges Out Quicken This is usually a tight race, but this time around, Money is our Editors' Choice. Its new depth options, better online connections, and closer attention to spending and categorization make an already capable, sophisticated, and highly usable finance program even better. That said, Quicken remains a worthy adversary, and users committed to that platform will be served perfectly well by upgrading rather than switching. But if you've been mulling a switch, or are new to personal-finance software, Money is currently king of the hill.Full Review:
Microsoft has billed this year's version of Money its most ambitious ever, and we agree...Money now provides online connections to more than 5,000 financial institutions, a huge increase over last year....The new version enhances many existing processes. For example, a new Bills wizard helps set up and track recurring payments, whether fixed or variable...An improved portfolio manager and new planning Decision Centers assist with long-term financial choices. New multiuser options let you give other people access to your Money files (using separate passwords), and tie-ins to the Web site have been broadened....All told, Money 2005 is worth your hard-earned dollars.
Amazon has a pretty good deal on Money 2005 Premium pre-order ($37.99 AR)....but my money is on Costco B&M providing best deal. I hope some FWers will share their experiences when they get it...but am pretty sure I'm going to take the plunge.

Yeah that's a pretty good deal from Amazon, providing you order by Sept 15. I'm not sure Costco will beat that price even with rebates. You'll also have to wait a while for it to be available at B&Ms.

Costco.com has a good deal for Money 2005 Deluxe $18.99 AR but shipping kills the deal for me. I'm going to check out B&M to see if they have it in stock at online price with the $30 rebate.

I'm still very interested in any actual users experiences with Money 2005.

MS Money 2005 is a much better software than 2004. Much more powerful in terms of portfolio viewing.

Where did everyone get their copy of Money 2005 from? Is it available anywhere on the web, or in stores?

Just wait until January, you can get 2005 free after rebate with Tax Cut.

Any reviews out there with pictures?

You can move your online financial information into Money easily during setup. You'll be required to implement a .NET Passport, then sign up to use your accounts online with Money. Once that is done, Money will serve as a clearinghouse for all of your electronic accounts.

not sure I want to be required to use MS Passport. I can download statements in 2004 without it.

Dallas Sucks

I just purchased Money Deluxe 2005 on Amazon ($32.99 after rebate; free shipping & no tax).

There is a review of the Premium version on PCMag: Link

Any deals coming up on this??

I saw Money Deluxe 2005 at costco for 18.99 after 30.00 rebate. that looks like a good deal.

fyi - if you're thinking about upgrading, you should check out the newsgroup on money - microsoft.public.money (available through google groups) - there seem to be a number of issues with the highly touted new online features

I think I will wait for the FAR deal

Can MS Money 2005 import Quicken 2003/2004 data files?

I'm generally fed up with Quicken and its quirky features and constant advertisements. I'm concerned about the ability to import by 3 MB (about 4 years of data) data file..

What he opinion?

** UPDATE **

Answered my own question...YES!

Has anybody used MS Money 2005 deluxe to get transactions from Ameritrade. It doesn't work for me.

I'm still waiting to receive and install MS Money 2005 SB but found this thread on microsoft.public.money newsgroup that suggests many others are experiencing your pain Ameritrade Connection in (MS Money) 2005

I've been using it for a while. The new interface *looks* pretty but it is much less configurable than the older ones, even MS Money 2004. There is a button bar that you can drop icons onto along the top (not resizable), the space available to display accounts and portfolio data has been reduced, and there are no easy clickers to slide unwanted interface elements out of the way. There are a lot of silly horizontal elements that stretch across the screen uselessly for no apparent purpose.

You will need a much larger screen, like 30%, to view the same data as you did with 2004, and even then you may get peeved off, as I am with seeing how badly your screen real estate is being wasted.

The new connection manager is pretty nice... escept for Ameritrade which as someone else pointed out is so far a no-go.

Also, when you install now you sign a ToS that enables you to use it for 2 years for online updates and access, and no more, from the time of installation. So it's a move away from a packagaed good and into a form of leased software access.

Another Fine product from Micro$haft! From all the reviews etc...etc... I thought I'd give it a shot, I wonder if MS paid PCMAG for that review? SO far IT'S CRAP! I hate it. I'd be better off with a note book and a good pen. This thing can't even log into the NETPASS/PASSPORT... I've created 2 accounts now and none of them work. NEXT, It even has Ads that Pop UP!!! What a RIP!!! What's NEXT? Are they gonna start having pop ad's on the desktop of LongHorn? Do you really TRUST MicroSoft with all your passwords, account information, and then they are going to RAKE you after your software expires for another 2 years? BullSh!t, this thing is going on eBay... Sigh, what a waste of time and $$!

Yeah and installing or reinstalling it later doesn't help...I think they say you get updates for two years or until 2007, whichever comes first. Not sure what part of 2007 though.

See my Hot Deals post here.

Amazon now has Money 2005 Premium for $24.99 after two rebates. Best deal I've seen yet.
