Here is an HSBC reply.

"The type of transaction considered as customer initiated
transaction is a deposit at a branch office or a paper check,
with your signature clearing the account. Also a purchase
made with the ATM or debit card associated with this
account is considered customer initiated. "

I was not sure how I could set-up recurring transactions made with my HSBC card every three months. So I set-up recurring bill payment from my FirstIB account to my HSBC account. It should go as a check and be processed in a branch. Hopefuly, it will protect my account from conversion to a basic checking.

I got this same offer, then 2 weeks later I got the same offer but for $75.

Are there negative ramifications for opening multiple accounts to take advantage of these offers? I did search the FAQ and the boards and apparently, it shouldn't affect FICO. Of course I would only be interested in the ones which give me the most bang for my $ with the least amount of effort.

I am considering currently...

PNC $101
BoA $50
Chase $100
CitiGold $200

I already have ING and Citibank. Chase is local and easy enough to do. BoA is fine for the short term and they are in NY now. CitiGold would be pretty easy to do as they did invite me after all.

Any thoughts?
