I think people will be interested in this, so here we go ...
The Federal Trade Commission has finalized the rule under which the three consumer credit agencies will provide consumers with a free yearly copy of their credit report upon request.
The rule provides for a gradual, structured roll-out of the centralized source. The centralized source will become available in cumulative stages, over a period of nine months, rolling-out from west to east beginning December 1, 2004. The entire transition will be complete by September 1, 2005.
The rollout schedule:
* Western states (Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming) will become eligible on December 1, 2004;
* Midwestern states (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin) will become eligible on March 1, 2005;
* Southern states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas ) will become eligible on June 1, 2005;
* Eastern states (Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia), Puerto Rico, and all U.S. territories will become eligible on September 1, 2005.
Do you know if we can request for a full credit report or will this only tell us our score?

This will only list the report. You must pay for the scores, though, the price is supposed to be reduced to a couple of dollars.
Also, Experian will be offering a new credit-monitoring system called Triple Alert for $4.95/month. TransUnion will offer debt analysis for $5.95/month.

Free reports doesnt have scores listed on it...( I got one on Jan 2004)

Even better....who can I pay to raise my 620 with TransUnion (which just happens to be a 655 with Equifax and a whopping 680 with Experian) which seems to be a discrepancy? I DEMAND THESE WALKING SCUMBAGS STOP RULING MY LIFE WITH THEIR %^&*()_(&^%$^&*(&^%&* CREDIT SCORES!!! It's sad when someone can't get a loan with otherwise good credit, just because a CRA wants to be difficult in correcting a mistake.

Question: it seems to me that they'll have to do a 'hard pull' of your credit to get you your info.
Will this self-checking of credit scores negatively affect credit scores? Or since it's the fed will that aspect of it go away?
ok, i have no idea which forum this stuff goes in, but apparently its in Hot Deals, Finance and Deal Discussion. I wouldn't be surprised if it were in other places as well. Anyways, go to the Hot Deals one and someone please answer my question!!! Its related to Equifax.

"LOL. You can't get a loan because you welched on your responsibilities in the past. You should have paid your bills (and paid your grandfather back), rather than working the system."
Might be surprised what can cause a lower credit score. I paid extra for the score and summary and: 1. Not enough revolving debt experience. 2. Too few satisfactory accounts. (My few accounts are satisfactory. I just don't have enough of them!) 3. Too few premium bankcard accounts.
In my state I pay more money on homeowners and car insurance because of my credit score. To pay reduced premiums I need more credit cards!

I did this late last night. I've used several other pay services (PrivacyGuard, CreditExpert, CreditWatch, etc.) to check my reports, and this one was by far the easiest to use. Signup was quick and easy, and I was even able to do it all using Firefox. It went surprisingly well, considering it was the first day, and I was using an "alternative web browser".
It's just the individual reports from each of the big 3, although a couple offer you your score or other advice for a small fee. I assume they're the common "FAKO" scores that they normally offer, and not a true FICO score.
Like all self-requested credit reports should, it only generated soft inquiries.
Too bad I only get it once every 12 months. You can stagger them out through the year, though. I did all three at once.
deepakaaa said: Also (pardon me if this is quoted before): Experian is offering free credit report for December at www.freecreditreport.com
This can be in addition to the credit report listed here.
I read the terms (painfully)and it is a membership trial for the free report. You have to cancel the membership to prevent charges to your card.

I just order my personal credit report from TU. My AMEX acct# on the report doesn't match the # on my card while all other info is correct. Call AMEX and they said it should be fine. Does anyone experience the same problem?

SAME problem here. I had to use other info to verify.

I did my report for Michigan today. My AMEX card # was not the account #, so they gave me a multiple choice test of my history to get access to my credit report, no #'s needed.

Its now available in the Midwest. Will pulling out Credit Reports from all 3 bureaus affect the Credit Score? I am not too sure since this is a federal thing.
No, when you pull your credit it has no effect on your score, it's when others pull it has an effect.

Thanks OP - got 2/3 of mine this morning. TransUnion kept saying my info didn't match - so I have to call. I'll pass. Two of three show me what i needed to know. About time this was freely available to people without a hassle.

The website of transunion is very slow, the other two sites are very fast. Successfully pull 3 reports. No free credit score is offered.
I'm so glad I checked my credit report! I found 2 mistakes and was able to file an online dispute. Yesterday, I received confirmations from Equifax and Experian that they deleted the negative accounts from my file. I hope that means that those negative remarks are removed from my report. I'm still waiting for Transunion to investigate my dispute. I recommend everyone to check their reports! Has anyone else found mistakes on their reports and successfully removed those negative remarks?

Transunion is always problematic for me too, not only through this freebie, but also in the past. They usually say I need to send in a letter, call them up, blah blah blah. I've never had any trouble with the other 2, why is TU such a pain?
bump for those people in the midwest...get your credit reports now.

Thanks OP! Good find! I live in one of those states, but I was unaware of the Dec 1, 2004 law. I just did this on all 3 credit bureaus tonight, it only took me about 10-20 minutes to print all of my info out. Keep your printer on and paper well stocked. Will be back next year for my next free report.

I just went to get my equifax report. Everything seemed fine. When I got to the print/view page, it said I needed a login/pswd? I was never asked to make a login and password? Plus, I can't go to the "contact us" page, because I'm not a member/no login/pswd, etc.

A good idea would be to pull 1 report every 4 months instead of all 3 reports at once. Keep your calendar marked. If something bad were to happen, you would be aware sooner rather than later.
