From FTC's website, for those who were once enrolled into consumerinfo.com's "free credit report" program but later got charged.
"The FTC recently settled a lawsuit against Consumerinfo.com – which did business as Experian Consumer Direct – over the “free credit report” promotion it advertised on television, radio and the Internet, including its websites freecreditreport.com and consumerinfo.com. If you ordered a free credit report from Consumerinfo between November 1, 2000 and September 15, 2003, and were enrolled in its credit monitoring program, you may be eligible for a refund under the FTC’s settlement. |

You got all 3 at once? now you can't get them for 12 months, as suggested by others, getting 1 every 4 months, seems like the way to go. |

I got all three. Experian is by far the worst--provides the least amount of details and makes it virtually impossible to correct a phantom address I've never had. Their site wants me to call/write for the addr correction, yet their phone menu simply has no obvious option to file a dispute or to speak to someone. TransUnion has the phantom address as my primary residence, so I have to enter that irrelevant zip code to ID myself AND later to initiate an investigate online. It's amazing to see the number of butchered variations of my name and real address. None of them has record of my real student loan. My Apple Loan is there. |

i'm in california, and got one credit report the first day back on Dec 1st, but haven't got around to checking the other two companies until yesterday. I didn't realize that its 1 report for each company per 12 months, and is not reset every year on Dec 1st. Keep this in mind when you're getting reports. Now I can get one in December but have to wait 'till August to get the other two. Guess I'll have to space it out better in the future. |

Got all 3 of mine for NY. The suggestion of spreading them out is good, but thouhgt I'd get them all now so I can check them against each other. We may wait a few months before my wife does hers as most of our accounts are joint so the info should be simmilar. In the future, I think I will start spreading them out 1 every 4 months. Combined with my wife's, 1 every 2 months should give us a good update.
Now, how do I figure out my credit score without paying for it? |
