From the business card she carelessly left on the table, it seems to be Marketing America. How should I tell her that it's a scam? I have a big problem with this because she won't even admit to having been to the meeting...only to a "kung fu demonstration by visiting buddhist monks from China". And I'm pretty sure she's going to stick to her story if I confront to her about this.

at a minimum, ask her to independently investigate the outfit on the internet. google would be a good place to start.
however, if your mom doesn't admit to going, then you may need a psycologist, not MLM infomration....

Catch her in the act. Find out when her next meeting is and follow her to her meeting. Now you have proof that she's going to the meetings. Then print out all the complaints, warnings, etc.. about Marketing America and have her read it.

I was going to say something similar. No need to follow her, instead tell her you just LOVE kung fu, and insist that you go with her. Bring the anti MLM material with you, and ask the monks common sense questions, that should get you both booted out of the MLM meeting.

Since she seems to already think you will object, perhaps a bit of personal experience will be worth it, if she learns to stay away from seminars and too-good-to-be-true ventures. Consider it tuition, in the school of hard knocks.

A person I considered a friend once tried to convince me to join Market America. One of the funny moments included the following IM to lure me in: her> I'm on track with my plan to ,make 100K+ a year me> hows that? her> I'm half way of making my goal of 1500$ this year(i'm guessing gross or crap she sold, she clams net) me> ???? her> than I will make 1500$ in 6 months, than 1500$ in 3 months, than 1500$ in 2 month, than 1500 in 1 month, than 1500$ in 2 weeks, than 1500 in one week!
I actually went to one of the "buisness" lunches, and they love to say "If it doesn't work out in 3-5 years, there still plenty of time(cycles) to try again". This was versus working hard, saving, and investing wisely.
KasugaKyosuke, lol ! I had to read your post twice to get it. Your friend was talking about the exponential nature of a perfect pyramid scheme. Too bad bloody reality gets in the way.

Did you ever see that movie "the Matrix"? This is exactly like that: the matrix is actually a MLM scam (thats the intentional hidden meaning of the Wachkowski bros). Only your mom refuses to take the pill that leads to reality. The problem is that you're not persuasive enough - hire lawrence fishburne decked out in leather, that should do the trick.

Alternatively, you could feign interest and join her in an "open-minded" investigation, all the while taking every opportunity to point out danger signs.
