several cards is an option.
miles in your Delta FF account expire after 3 years of inactivity (not 3 years from issue date)
its very easy to generate some activity and make sure they dont expire (order some magazines for 400 miles, buy from OfficeMax through Delta partner links they ocassionally offer on their website, etc).
Just be sure not to hold on to the miles for TOO long - frequent flier programs can change or cease at any time, especially with the current financial situation Delta is in! |

I may apply for at least one other Delta card and have the miles funnel to the same Delta skymiles frequent flier account.
khorne55, your link for January promotion doesn't work. Is it too late to sign up? Thanks very much for posting this thread!! |

If you have another AMEX line, move some of it over. Just keep the minimum in the other account without closing it.
AMEX may be awarding credit lines according to your credit limits in other AMEX credit cards. |

this is my first AMEX. Highest CC limit is $16500 Bank Visa, some in the middle $7-5000, and now this AMEX is my lowest. |

AMEX automatically lowered my credit limit on another AMEX card from 10k to $500. Now I have a platinum card with a $500 limit, weehoo. And they gave me a credit limit of 10k on the AMEX gold skymiles card. I didn't even know they lowered the credit limit on the other card until I got a letter stating so after I got the gold skymiles card. It said, "account# blah has not been used in the past six months. To provide you with the best possible line of credit on your new card we will be transferring ... credit to your new card". I'm still waiting to hear from them about my Business skymiles card. Seems like they could half it up and give me 5k on each.
The additional 2500 miles/user has already been added to my skymiles account, still waiting for the 10k.
The January promotion is either dead or temporarily down. I put new instructions on how to get to the webpage in the OP. Delta has caught on the the FW effect, I had to de-link many addys in the OP to get them to work. Have to cut and paste now. g'luck! |

Well we see that there is a potential problem if we give names/ dobs of other people. There is a possible solution. How about giving correct details of people who exist but are not monitored by credit scoring agencies. Then their credit won't be affected by your delinquencies and vice versa. A quick example is friends in Russia, Latvia and oh before I forget all my rich and loyal friends from Nigeria. Believe me I get more emails from them then from my real friends...

Got an e-mail from AMEX. This offer will work for the business card as well. You can only add 5 persons though. |

HELP!
I call to activate my account today and the offer is not available for my account. Nobody is able to tell me why. They asked for a printout regarding the 2,500 mile promotion and said they could give it to me then...does anyone have this promotion in writing? A scan of a letter maybe? |

The best is send an e-mail to AMEX and inquire about the additional 2500 per user added. In the body of your e-mail, make sure you mention the card that you have. it will take 3-4 days for an answer from AMEX. Once you get an answer and confirm the deal, you can use this as a proof. That's why I sent an e-mail to AMEX about the 2500 miles per user added before I applied the Delta Business Card. Good Luck. |

My husband got the same letter saying his unused card credit limit is being reduced to $500.
Also I found when logging into Skymiles, the Dash to Go game points are posted, plus there is a link for the January 20.05% promotion on the Skymiles account summary page. I signed up for that plus the (up to) 10 points per dollar Reward dining and hotel program (signup 5 AMEX/Visa/MC allowed), but I found it conflicts with other iDine programs like Upromise, so I signed up only the Delta card. Also there was a signup for receiving email offers. All these require enrollment.
Now on to adding additional users....any problems recently? |

I still don't understand. How do they match up the people and their credit reports without their SSNs (it's entirely possible for people to have the same names and the same birthdays)? |

they do, if they can match on anything they will report, they dont need SSN. Bdates, addresses, etc.

You probably just succeeded in adding 2nd birthdays to these poor folks' credit reports. Now they may be hassled in legit apps for new credit. Good job. |

Actually he told me he called and talked to a rep (who was very friendly probably because the call really was being recorded), who said they can't report it without the SSN. And allowing anyone to wreck someone's credit report just by knowing their name and birthday doesn't make sense. |

And allowing anyone to wreck someone's credit report just by knowing their name and birthday doesn't make sense. It doesnt matter whether it "makes sense" to you, the rep is wrong. AMEX DOES report Authorized Users, and can do so without a SSN. Did you read my post on the prior page of this thread, and my link CONFIRMING same? For the lazy: Credit card issuers that report additional "Authorized User" cards on the credit reports of additional cardholders
Some selected quotes for the TRULY Lazy who cant be bothered with reading a link: "AMEX reports authorized users on our regular Blue and Gold cards. Equifax shows all related information of the accounts. " "AMEX Costco rebate card. Shows complete information (open date, balance, etc) on my wife's report." "AMEX does it for the starwood also...reports to experian. Don't know if it backdates because I was authorized as the same time as my mother got the cardd"
They DONT need the persons SSN (or a correct DOB) to report on their credit report. Thats a common myth (which also happens to be in the FINANCIAL MYTHS thread). If they can match on ANYTHING (name, address, DOB, SSN, etc) it can be reported.
And adding "imaginary" people, falsified birthdates, pets, or ANYTHING that is knowingly false to obtain cards IS credit card fraud (in case some of you care). QUIT PLAYING GAMES by altering info, trying foolish little "tricks".
PLEASE FOLKS, I dont mean to SCREAM, but a lot of you are making some very poor decisions to try to get 2500 extra FF miles. BE SURE you understand what you are doing (its clear a lot of you do not), and most of all, and dont rely on what some idiot AMEX CSR tells you. Their statements carry no weight. |

Good advice SIS
Does anyone know how the January 20.05% promotion work? Why such an odd percentage? It seems like they will pay 20.05% on all purchases made in January including the everyday double category. (edit: see T&C in post below)
Also the 10K skymile promotions for all the cards seem to end 12/31. Just a few more days.... |
