Does anyone know how the January 20.05% promotion work? Why such an odd percentage? It seems like they will pay 20.05% on all purchases made in January EXCEPT the everyday double category. Am I correct?
Also the 10K skymile promotions for all the cards seem to end 12/31. Just a few more days....
The odd percentage comes from the year "2005" |

Wow....never thought of that!!
Here is the T&C for the January promotion:
Terms and Conditions: Enrollment required by 1/31/2005. If you do not have internet access, please call 1-800-227-7081 to enroll. The 20.05% bonus will be applied to the total dollars of spend posted to your account from 1/1/05 to 1/31/05. Please allow 8-12 weeks after promotion for the bonus SkyMiles to be posted to your Delta SkyMiles account. This offer is available to personal Delta SkyMiles Credit Cardmembers only. Cardmembers who earn Always Double Miles will continue to earn Double Miles for eligible purchases. To be eligible to receive bonus miles, Cardmember's account must be active and not in default at the time of bonus fulfillment. Balance transfer, Express Cash, and U.S. Savings Bonds transactions do not apply. Bonus miles for this offer are limited to 10,000 miles. In each year of Cardmembership your mileage earnings are limited to $60,000 of eligible spending ($100,000 for Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Cardmembers, unlimited for Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Cardmembers), not including bonuses. Promotion Code D316:0001 All Delta SkyMiles program rules and conditions apply. ©2004 American Express Bank, FSB
Now when I read it again, it sounds like we will earn 20.05% on the total posted to our account in January including Always Double Miles which will continue to earn the usual double. For example, $10 Always Double purchase will earn 20 miles + (10 x 1.2005) = 22.005 miles, hmmmm....not too good. 5% Cash Back from Citi/AT&T pays better than 2.2% (approx 1 mile = .01) or 1.2% for other non double purchases. |

Well, WTF. I just called to activate and the guy offered to add people to my account, but not the 2500 skymiles per person! Man, I'm not very happy about that. I asked him about it and he didn't know anything. I signed up through the link that only gave me 10,000 miles for the card so I would be SURE to get offered the 2500 miles per user.
....and I was SO looking forward to getting a free plane ticket....
dammit! |

looks like they have a no-fee (ever) version of the Delta card (1 mile for $2 spending).
Good to keep in mind when the one year is up on the good card. They should be able to convert it to the no-fee kind. |

I never said anything like that and I'd never do this without their knowledge. I highly advise anyone going through with this to let the authorized persons know. |

They should be able to convert it to the no-fee kind. yeah, i converted an annual fee Delta card to the no annual fee card after the first year...good for keeping the FF account "active" with new miles so the old ones dont expire. Also no new credit inquiry, they just switch the card with a phone call. |

Call again. I added 4 AUs yesterday but before doing so I asked a few questions. I said I'm calling because I recently received my Delta card and wanted to be sure the first year fee is waived for my account and that I would be able to add authorized users to my account and earn additional 2500 miles for each person added. The CSR said yes about the fee waiver immediately but said she'd have to check about the 2,500 miles. She took the longest time, but then came back and said yes. We'll see....
There are several different offers it seems. Some don't waive the first year fee for their 10,000 promo. I applied with the FW Cash Back link instead of OP's so I couldn't recall exactly if I read that the fee was waived. I called to clarify this and ask about the 2,500 miles at the same time hoping not to cause a FW effect. |

Expect to see many more promotions from AMEX on the Delta cards. AMEX has advanced $500 MM to Delta against future Skymiles sales and I am sure they want to recover that money quickly, especially from an airline which is likely to enter Ch 11 soon |

Tooshy, thanks for the advice, but it didn't work. CSR put me on hold for a couple minutes and came back and said that he checked with his supervisor and it was a promotion that ended.

It ended? I called this morning (probably pm ET) and added 4 AUs on my husband's account (with his permission). I told CSR I was able to add 4 AUs to my account yesterday and earn 2,500 per additional user so I wanted to do the same for husband's account. He looked up my account and confirmed the 2,500 earned per user on my account (husband's account didn't have this he said) but said he didn't know why he couldn't give husband the same offer. He noticed I was adding the same names so then just copied the AU info from my account. I think it really depends on the CSR that's helping you because it seems they have permission to give points if deemed necessary. But I get the feeling the bonus points for AUs was not part of this promotion. |

Has anybody actually received the 2500 miles per AU?
I got the Delta AMEX card, and added four authorized users when I activated. So far I have been credited the 10,000 miles for signing up (argh, i signed up with a 12,000 mile offer, so i'll have to call in about that), but haven't seen the 2500 x 4 miles for the AU's yet.
When are the AU miles supposed to post? Anybody received theirs yet? |

The 2500/user are added quickly and before the normal signup bonus, at least for me. Did they offer the 2500/user to you? I got a AMEX business Skymiles card too and they gave me 1000/user, max two, I had to ask for the promo. In both cases the miles for the extra users were added in about 1 week. |

khorne is the OP though. Anybody who tried this deal after it was posted get their 2500 miles per additional authorized user yet?
Spoke to AMEX on the phone, and the CSR was adamant that I would only get 2500 miles once, for the first AU that was added. I didn't have any proof otherwise that I could show him, but just kept arguing my position. Nothing was resolved.
I'm just wondering what is the best approach to make sure we get the miles. |

My statement cycle ended 1/18 and I was charged $85 for membership fee...check your statements. They finally waived it but said I didn't sign up for the fee waiver offer (I signed up with FatCash link, so that may be why). No bonus points 10K or 2,500 per AU either. They said it will take 6-8 weeks for that to show up. I clearly saw the 10K bonus offered
The CSR mentioned that if you applied online this might be why. She said if I used the mailer to apply there would have been no problem. Is there a promo code that should have been used to get the first year fee waived?
Another interesting thing is the CSR now says there is nothing mentioned on my account that says the first year fee is waived, yet I called specifically about this several weeks ago. Very fishy/funny....

Just spoke with a CSR today after not receiving the 2,500 bonus points per AU on my last statement. She sounded new--had to put me on hold for about two minutes for EVERY question I asked--read me some completely different offer, said she couldn't find the one on my account I supposedly had but wound up crediting me the miles out of good faith. |
