you get the card for the first year fee free. Don't add anyone to the card when you sign up online. When you get the card CALL to activate and have 5 names with birthdates to add to the account. they will offer you the 2500 skymiles per added user up to five users. you can add anyone you want, all the cards will be mailed to you. these cards do not even have to be used to get the 2500 skymiles per user bonus. YOUR card needs to be used once however. WHEN YOU ARE OFFERED THE PROMOTION BE SURE TO TELL THEM UP FRONT THAT YOU INTEND TO ADD FIVE USERS! This is where i went wrong, i added one user then she quickly started offering me "protection plans" and such. when she finished i said i want to add more people, she said it was too late because she could not get back to that screen, she connected me to customer service who said they could add the users but they could not give me the promotion miles!!! i even called the activation people again, then customer service again, no dice.

Anyway, all said you will get 22,500 miles if you do it correctly, you only need 25,000 for a round trip domestic ticket! I thought i saw this posted elsewhere but i was unable to find it. Anyway I have added important info that i could have used, i lost 10k skymiles because i didn't know this info.

UPDATE: You can get 12,000 miles if you sign up for the credit card here:

https://www66.AmericanExpress.com/cards/Applyfservlet?csi=24/11083/b/61/2513415090/247170703597/0/n

Not sure about the extra 2500 miles/user added because I haven't actually used this link, YMMV. Thanks goes to gnat for this link. Card is fee free for 1st year.

UPDATE 2: You can get 15,000 miles if you sign up for the Platinum card here:

Thanks goes to tooshy for this link. $135 annual fee may apply! Not sure about the extra 2500 miles/user added because I haven't actually used this link, YMMV.

interesting, so 32,500 miles? That meets my criteria for a hot CC application offer!

travel forum thread

I tried the Delta site but it says check back in the near future...dead???

The 10,000 miles promo was dead about 12 hrs after it started.
5 names with birthdates is all it takes? Do they need Social Security numbers? How about pet names? or imaginary names?

Did any one find how many miles it take to get a free domestic or intl flight?

did you read the OP?

SSN not required, they might accept fido but i would use parents and gf, sisters, brothers etc. someone who really exists and you know their birthday. dunno if it matters by why risk it? all the cards come to your address, mailed to your name, just cut them up.

50,000 miles to europe is what i am shooting for, i have already done it once before. I went to Amsterdam for three weeks in June/July of this year, sweetness. I am ready to go back! I got in on the "dash to the gate" game too so that was another 10k miles. I am getting closer and closer to Dampkring coffeeshop every day!

OP, in your instance was this for personal card or business?

nm.

I got the card for personal use, i dunno anything about the business card.

have a safe trip

You could probably get both the personal and business card for both bonuses?
I know this can be done with both the Citibank AAdvantage personal and business card

There is another link that offers 12,000 miles as the signup bonus.

Do you have any idea if this link also lets you do the referrals at 2,500 miles each?

https://www66.americanexpress.com/cards/Applyfservlet?csi=24/11083/b/61/2513415090/247170703597/0/n

that would be sweet! I am self-employed so it wouldn't be a problem as long as i get approved, i got carried away with those citibank deals. I'm gonna try for the business card later tonight, gotta run.

Well, I applied using the 12,000 link I posted, and what's nice about it is that the webpage gives you an automatic acceptance/rejection after you submit your info.

I am approved for a $6,000 CL, which is fine since I have tons of 0% BT's on my credit report right now.

When I get the card, I'll make sure to have 5 names and birthdates handy. Thanks, OP. I gave you a (+) rating.

ummm:

12,000 SkyMiles will be awarded to qualified American Express Cardmembers 6-8 weeks after the first charge on the Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card. Otherwise, bonus miles will be awarded upon payment of your initial $85 annual fee.

Maybe better for the 10,000 miles and first year free?

I played the dash to the gate game and got 9000 points (lucky me! never thought that it would be pulled off so soon). The point balance dosent show up in my account online yet, did anyone else get their points in their SM accounts? BTW while I played the game I got these special offers, so sharing with you friends .

1. Nextel Miles offer: 10,000 SkyMiles by purchasing any new phone and rate plan ****LINKY****

2. Miles for mortgage and real estate: *****LINKY*****

I got some other miles offers in the game but rejected thinking that these arnt that good.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't adding someone to your CC potentially link your credit histories?

I played the game too, and I won 10000 points, haha.. But it doesn't show up yet. Let's wait another month

Grr. Being a student with a short credit history (albeit, I've been building since I turned 18) sucks. I never get approved for any non-student cards.

i just tried to sign up for the business card too and i got a "we will contact you" message which I think is usually a bad sign. But they gave me $10k on the personal card, of course that was just last week. I have applied for 7 credit cards in the last two weeks, 4 citi, bankone (sony), Delta personal and lastly Delta business. So far I have been approved for the first 6 cards, I think this one may have ended my streak. You know what that means, I get a free credit report!

spammusubi, the same fine print exists for the offer the OP linked to. it's a standard clause. if you follow OP's link, and click "Learn More" near the top of the page, it links to this, which is the same footnote.

The 12,000 free miles link also says it is $85 annual fee, but waived for the first year. Same as 10,000 mile link.

Obviously YMMV, but I went for the extra miles. Hope it works.

i received an offer for 15000 skymiles upon first purchase with the card, first year fee but it was an invitation offer with a reservation#. 1-800-AXP-3600 or AmericanExpress.com/deltagold2

PLUS 2500 more points for adding on an authorized user over 18.

hope this helps someone!

Can a free ticket be sold/transferred ?

Can a free ticket be sold/transferred ?

Not sold, according to the rules, but you can have a ticket issued in someone else's name. I confirmed this by calling 1-800-323-2323. This can be done free of charge. They buried this info into their website here:

https://www.Delta.com/skymiles/about/member_guide/travel_rules/index.jsp

Award Transfer
Miles may be redeemed for Award Tickets in the name of passengers other than the SkyMiles member, but Award Tickets are nontransferable once issued. Members are prohibited from selling or bartering Award Tickets.

Neither my cat or dog have credit histories; wink, wink.

Or did you plan on using REAL people's names?

That's a valid question that I don't know the answer to.

What are the consequences of adding random family members to your Delta CC? If you are only giving a name and a birthdate, can they really link those additional people to your credit report? Wouldn't you need at least a SSN?

On the other side, what are the potential consequences of giving fake and/or pet's names? Is this identify fraud, or something?

Pug Issued Credit Card
A pug in Northern California would have purchased his doggie treats with plastic after being issued a credit card by mail.

The dog, named Clifford, lives with his owner in Livermore, Calif., in the San Francisco Bay Area. Clifford's owner, Steve Borba, said he was tired of getting spam e-mails, so he signed up for an e-mail account using the name Clifford J. Dog. Eventually, a pre-approved credit card application arrived addressed to Clifford J. Dog, and Borba sent it in as a joke.

"It asked for his mother's name. I put 'Pugsy Malone.' When it asked for a Social Security number, I put nine zeroes, and I even put that this was for a dog and not to send a credit card," Borba said.

The credit card company issued Clifford a card despite the obvious warning on the application, Borba said. After the card arrived, Borba alerted the company of the error and the card was deactivated.

Borba said that Clifford never got to use his credit line.

We should come up with a new thread, how to maximize credit lines for your pets.

gnat said: What are the consequences of adding random family members to your Delta CC?

There is nothing to stop you from requesting to remove them as AUs (after you get the rewards, that is).

gnat said: On the other side, what are the potential consequences of giving fake and/or pet's names? Is this identify fraud, or something?

Yes it is Identity theft, you are stealing your Pet's Identity

Lol !! You guys are a riot!

SIS, did you see it in writing anywhere on the Delta.com or AMEX.com?

I updated my OP with a link to see all the possible awards and their costs in Skymiles, look towards the bottom of the OP for the link.

I got an email and phone call from them this morning telling me to call them...apparently they had a problem with me listing total household income while I listed my job as Student...they asked me what I made per year and I gave them a rough estimate counting all my scholarships--APPROVED. They couldn't tell me my CL though...guess I'll have to wait.

Good thing those 0% til August Citi BT deals havent shown on my credit report yet...muahahaha. I shall call them back shortly to add some AUs.

Three unfortuante things, though-- (1) I JUST bought a Delta ticket before the CC app so no double miles on this purchase (do you think they'll let me re-bill this card? (2) I applied for the 10,000 point deal before the 12,000 or 15,000 deals were posted; (3) I doubt I'm going to be charging enough per year to justify the $35 annual fee (I already have another AMEX card)

I called AMEX to find out if I have this offer (lots of offers get torn up and I sort of recall a Delta miles offer, not sure if it was 15K), the CSR said they don't know but I could mention this in my application by phone. Anyone tried this?

Also there is a FatCash $15 rebate for applying, but if you do this, then you won't get the invitation bonus.

This is turning out to be a super hot offer: I got the 10K bonus game points for us, plus 15K for each card (hopefully), plus 2.5K per AU, plus 20.5% for January purchases.... Thanks!

Update: I called the 1-800 for the 15K offer and I was not on the list. But it was worth a try....I'll probably try the 12K next

Interesting. However, I can't find 2500 per extra person mentioned anywhere on the Delta web site (OP link). Am I missing something?

Delta Platinum 15K bonus- click link

However, the annual fee is $135 although they give you a companion ticket with a purchased ticket every year. Also what's a medallion bonus mile?

Nice site to compare all of AMEX cards. No limit to the number of AMEX cards you can apply for.

Delta is a partner of NWA. Hmmm. Wonder if I could get the bonus miles on my Worldperks account...

Skipping 68 Messages...

I wish they would make it easier to reconcile points shown on the statement with the skymiles account online. Grrr...
