Citi does not allow conversions if the account you convert from is open for less than 6 months!

Chase doesn't require a credit card # change unless you are switching from a non-signature to a signature card. The only difference is the benefits such as auto rental insurance and the like. I've had my card convert twice from Amazon.com to PerfectCard to the new Chase Freedom without changing my account number, so my credit report has only one entry under Chase.

no for me when I converted Dividend to Diamond Preferred.

I was not able to convert a Citi Dividend Platinum Select to Citi Professional Cash Card, their reason being that the Professional is a business card.
