Anyone else receive this??

I got the same offer two weeks ago and went for it. They closed my Dividend Card and Citi gave me a new account #. According to www.truecredit.com there was NO credit inquiry.
Remember that you may (i think) lose any Dividend Dollars that you have accumulated. |

converted att universal cash rewards card to citi dividend card - kept rewards intact.
converted mbna platinum mastercard to mbna world points visa signature - mastercard no longer extends warranties, but the visa siganture does.
no problems with either conversion, though i can't remember if they changed the att/citi number. the mbna number would be changed. |

mrbean said:DWJoe said:Interesting, mrbean. I have a couple of Chase cards left over from BT's that I'd like to convert to the PerfectCard which has a simple, no hassle reward structure.
I am not sure if they are converting non-reward to reward cards - probably. Doesn't hurt to ask. Interesting the CSR called it an "account upgrade" rather than a conversion.
Regarding the perfect card, I have the 3% gas version, and it used to be no hassle to me. Now that 5% gas+grocery is the norm on other cards, I find myself using the Perfect card less and less, and keep wondering if I have made the 9 purchases this "account year" to avoid the annual fee.
So I thought converting it to the "Chase Cash Plus" card (5% grocery+gas, no fee, a BankOne product) might be better - as CornHusker pointed out above. The down side is that the rebate will not be automatic on the next statement. It's a point system, and I have seen some posts here complaining about Chase's way of handling the points program since it's relatively new to them. Also a disadvantage about the annual cap on points.
Hassle either way!
Call up Chase and see if you can have the annual fee removed. If you look on Chase's website, it now says that the PerfectCard has no annual fee. I applied for the card a year ago, back when it said there was an annual fee, but when I received the card, I was pleasantly surprised when the terms said my card would not have an annual fee. I even called them up just to make sure. |

Citi AAdvantage into anything else, anyone?
I did discover to Discover Gas about 10 months ago. Earned about 400 in Cash Back so far, great card. 12k limit upgraded from 6k today, only use it for gas though. |

FYI for those wishing to convert their normal Citi cards to a Dividend:
A few weeks ago I called to convert my Citi Platinum Select MasterCard (originally a Student card, account opened in '98) to a Dividend card. The woman on the phone said I could convert it a Dividend Platinum card that would give only 1% on all purchases, but also gave me an offer to apply for a new Dividend Platinum Select with the 1%/5% everyday with a better APR and then merge the two accounts. I thought this was a little fishy because Citi doesn't have a straight 1% Cash Back card on their site, so I decided to go ahead with just converting as I didn't want to lose the 1998 starting date on the original account and didn't care about the APR. I just got all the paperwork in the mail for the new card, and what do you know: it's a Dividend Platinum Select with 1%/5% everyday. So, if they say the card you're converting to only earns 1%, they're probably misinformed. |

Chase allows us to convert cards. But they change the card number. I just called Chase and confirmed.
Converted Chase platinum into cash plus, keep the same number and same card. |

with AMEX you can reallocate nearly all your limits
get like 4 cards them move all but 1K (say 9K each card to one card) you have +27K on one card.
the other cars will get increases more frequently due to low credit card limit now.
this is new feature called REALLOCATE LIMIT
works with business too! instantly! |

Did this about two months ago, had the AMEX Delta with an annual fee that about to kick in, called to cancel and AMEX offered to convert it to an AMEX Hilton Hhonors with no annual fee, same credit line, same account number. |

from what?
AMEX is weird, you can convert a card to a list of cards, but not the others. and every card have its own list of cards to convert to. |

I don't think you can, I think starwood and Delta and hilton and optinum are in one group, mean you should be able to convert among them, blue or clear is out this list. You can try to ask if you can convert the old cash rebate card (same as blue cash) |

just re-allocate the credit lines at AmericanExpress.com
go to account management -> reallocate lines
you can even move from business lines to personal.
i moved 50K from business to personal to increase my total debt ratio for a month or two then becuase the low limit cards ($1K minimum) will get increases faster than high limit cards
be sure to click the credit line increase after you re-allocate, they may give you an increase instantly!

researcherguy said:I succesfully converted my citibank student visa card to dividend card (although the limit is still laughable). i also have gotten my American Express student card converted to blue cash. i know chase also converts b/w cards. just threaten them with closing and they would do it. I called American Express today to convert my Blue for Students card to a Blue Cash card. They did not allow me to make the conversion (they did not give me any reason). Instead, they wanted me to fill out an application for a new credit card and then cancel the old card. |

Just a quick question alluded to above...
If i convert a Citi AA card (that i have had since 95) to a new citi card of whatever flavor that doesn't have an annual fee (ulike the AA card), does my credit report show the credit line as still originating in 95. As this is my oldest card, and hence longest intact payment history, i would rather not lose that positive on my credit report. Thanks. |

I was able to convert my Chase Perfectcard to a Chase Cash Plus card a couple of months ago.
Also, I read on some other thread that someone was able to switch back and forth between Chase Perfectcard and some other card, in order to keep getting the 6% promotional rebate on gas!
Has anyone tried to convert any Chase card into a Chase Subaru card? |
