I called American Express today to convert my Blue for Students card to a Blue Cash card. They did not allow me to make the conversion (they did not give me any reason). Instead, they wanted me to fill out an application for a new credit card and then cancel the old card.
I just called and had no problem converting my Blue for Students into a Blue Cash. The whole call took maybe 3 minutes, and most of that was navigating through menus. |

I called again and got it converted this time. The CSR said that conversion will take effect in 24 hours. A few days later I received a letter saying that it will take a few weeks. At least I got it converted. I'm thinking that it was just a problem with their system last time, but they never confirmed that. |

Have anyone attempted and succeeded to convert the Amazon card to another Chase visa? It's a partnered card so I have doubts it will work. The card is now 3 years old with a 27K line so I'm hesitant to mess with it but my Amazon purchases have decreased with their increasing 3rd party sellers on almost everything. |

Thanks, OP. I had no idea this was possible - I got to keep my oldest account and get a nice 1%/5% Cash Back card. Completely painless - about a 2-minute phone call. |

I have the AMEX gold card with the first year free, i just got it so i can have a cool AMEX card and i ended up making many purchases on it and one in particular is for a Dell tv that i want the warranty to be doubled on. I was originally planning to cancel it in a year which will be this september, i am wondering if i just convert my account to another AMEX which doubles warranties, will i still be able to make a claim?... |

Chase lets you convert a partnered card to a non-partnered card, and vice versa. You will get a new account number (I did when I converted to Chase Subaru), but it will not show up on your credit report as a new account. i.e. your credit report will contain only one "Chase" entry starting with your original membership date. |

Has anyone tried to convert a Citi student Visa card to AT&T card? At&T card now is offering $100 signup bonus.
Update: Failed to go through. They suggest I apply but refuse to convert. rateman said:SoBeyondTheNorm said:Have anyone attempted and succeeded to convert the Amazon card to another Chase visa? My Crap One story: I recently called to inquire if they can convert my ancient plantinum visa to one of those "no hassle" reward cards. The lady said no. No surprise there, as I knew they don't allow conversions between prime and sub-prime accounts. However two weeks later my statement came and I found a balance for "no hassle rewards." Also got a letter today confirming my "automatic upgrate" to the "no hassle points" program. Go figure. |

I was able to convert my Blue for Students into a Blue Cash rebate card on the first try. But this rebate program (first $6500: 1%/0.5%) cannot be compared to my CITI dividend card (5%/1%). Well, at least when I have to use my AMEX card, I have a little reward. |

Anyone have experience with consolidating citicards? I am in the process of merging my citicards together to make about a 20K limit. Now, once the 0% balance transfer promo goes away on the card that i have now, can I then open another citicard with a new 0% balance transfer offer and then put the old card limit on the new card? That way I just have a running total that will always be a 0%. |

Anyone else receive this??

I got the same offer two weeks ago and went for it. They closed my Dividend Card and Citi gave me a new account #. According to www.truecredit.com there was NO credit inquiry.
Remember that you may (i think) lose any Dividend Dollars that you have accumulated.
I also had same offer from citicards. When I called customer service, he told me, I can convert my citi dividend card to premium pass BUT i won't get 15,000 thank you points. As you only get 15K or 10K points on new line of credit.
Has anyone converted and got 10K or 15K bonus points? |

I don't think you can convert a card and get a signup bonus. Singup bonuses are for new lines of credit and if it wasn't that way then you could just convert to other cards all the time to get the promotions. |

Yes, you can convert a card and get a signup bonus. I did this twice already. I converted from driver edge to simplicity last december and from simplicity to preferred dimond in June. I got bonus points (10K) plus promotional rate. |

No kidding? THis is good, because after using a card's promo 0% rate, its pretty much worthless. This seems like a way to do an AOR, without affecting FICO score, if you could convert enough? |
