My $25 bonus posted 4/4. I did not use a code when I signed up.
However, no interest has posted for the month of March yet (acct opened 3/16/05). When does interest post to this account? (Yes, I know I can call them, thanks.) |

I opened my account 3/13/2005 and also received my $25 today. I also didn't use a code (got the letter in the mail a day too late). HSBC normally posts interest on a quarterly basis (this was the case with my regular savings account). I wonder if they will do the same for the online savings account. |

Well, it could be that the interest would post quarterly, but still, shouldn't I figure on having received tha JFM quarterly interest since I opened in March? Guess I'll have to give'em a call.... |

Does anyone know whether you can make deposits into the online savings account by using the ATM card at an HSBC ATM? I have to spend a lot of time in upstate NY. My primary bank doesn't have locations up there, but HSBC has a major presence. It would be a nice way to deposit checks I receive and start getting decent interest straight away. Otherwise, my only motivation is the $25 bonus. ING and Emigrant are both paying higher rates, as others have pointed out here. |

Hey does anyone know whether there is a 5 day hold period on the amount you deposit into the HSBC Online Savings Account as the others? It doesn't seem like it though I have not tried it yet. The reason why I don't think so is because my available balance is the same as my bank balance even as soon as I transferred some money into it (even the $25 bonus, which takes a month for ING to clear). So here is another big bonus over the other competitors! I successfully linked my current HSBC Debit card to the online savings account. I did this over the phone without a hitch. Honestly I think this behaves the same way as a regular savings except for the fact that you can not open one at a branch. I do not see why you would not be able to deposit a check by using the ATM card at an ATM. Of course someone should really call and verify all this.... |

Oh I found the answer in the FAQ section on their website:
How can I deposit money into my account?
You can deposit money into your OnlineSavings Account through an HSBC ATM, by transferring funds from another account (either HSBC or non-HSBC account), or through the 'deposit by mail' feature available through Personal Internet Banking.

Thanks for that tidbit. I'm embarrassed that I didn't find the info myself. I find the HSBC website(s) kind of confusing, from the moment you go to hsbc.com and have to navigate to find the right country site. |

That explains it. You should be using the US site... http://www.us.hsbc.com

Just a question. I had signed up when it was 2.75% and now I see it's 2.88%. I was wondering which APR rate I will get? |

Your APR changes to whatever the current rate is. So if you opened your account when it was 2.75% and it changed to 2.88%, then your APR will also change to 2.88%. Doesn't matter what it was when you opened - your APR on your account will be whatever the current APR being offered for that type of account is.

Has anybody transfered funds online from savings to checking account? How many days does it take? It took them 3 business days to transfer money from checking account to credit card in my case. |

I have transfered money from my savings to checking and vice versa and it was always done instantly. Your available balance changes instantly online and by phone for both accounts. Its great! |

I didn't know that they still had a cash bonus when I opened an account last month. Nice surprise to find $25 deposited today. |

Does any one ever use a US HSBC ATM card to withdrawal from a Hong Kong HSBC ATM machine? Is there a surcharge? |

MBNA has deleted this account from my sourse banks on their bill payment without any trace. A last month payment was successful. |

Now thats what I need, so many times I've needed money fast, but would have to wait 2 days with ING, this instant thing sounds great.
and also, I did not see anything there about a $25 bonus, but the promo box was already filled in for me with "save5" lets see if that gets me anything, maybe a $5 bonus? |

Bump because the APY is now the same as Emigrant, but you also get an ATM card and a $25 bonus with HSBC. |
