My mistake, I missed that, so now there are absolutely no drawbacks to going with HSBC, the great thing is if you do the max 6 transactions, you can still do unlimited ATM withdrawals. |

Looks good but I won't open it until they offer a Sign-up bonus again. Even ED had run a $25 bonus recently. I can wait, |

If you have an HSBC Savings account then there is an advantage, because you can move the money instantly between the 2 accounts, there were times when I needed money and I would have to wait 2 days from money to be transfered from my ING account to my checking, you also get a free gift, no big deal, you can keep your current account open If you want to, and also open an HSBC checking account, there is no minimum, no fees, unless you have no activity for 3 months, and don't keep a checking account open just because you like it, once you get up and running with this checking account you'll like it, I kept a Citibank checking account open for a while just because I liked the website, the ease of bill pay, but once I opened this account, I saw they're basically all the same. |

With HSBC onlinesavings you can get money using an ATM card. There's a $1000 a day limit and a $1 fee for non HSBC ATM I think. |

There is no ATM service fee for non-HSBC banks. Yes, you will still have to pay the fee for the ATM you are using, but HSBC doesn't charge you anything.
I have had this account open for about 4 months now and love it! I always had a HSBC checking so this works out great! |

Yes, interest posted each month. I opened my account on the 22nd of April and get interest paid the 22nd of each month (tomorrow!)!
As for the bonus, they supposedly give the $25 on the 5th of every month for new accounts. I didn't get mine after a week and sent and email and was told this. |

here's a dumb question:
I created an acct. hsbc sent me a link to goto to type in the amount they deposited into the bank that i'm funding my hsbc acct with. i typed in my username/password and enter the amounts. everything went fine.
Now i goto us.hsbc.com to log in normally (via personal internet banking link on upper right side). but it's not accepting my username/password?! (yes, i know it's correct since it's the same as my other accts.)
How do i log into hsbc? |

Well, I don't have an account with HSBC, but it sounds a lot like the process I've been through with other online banks. That is, they give you a temporary username and password to set up the account and verify the deposits, then once that is done they snail mail you a new username or password to use to access the account. May not be the case with HSBC, but I strongly suspect it is. |

They deposited into the account from which you funded the account with? Thats odd, with me I just funded the account and that was it, but I funded with HSBC checking..... As far as logging in send an email to newrequest@us.hsbc.com or call 1-888-404-4050.

Nothing odd about that. If you funded through them why would they need to conduct test deposits with their own bank, right? |

I clicked on bank to bank transfers on the HSBC website and I see one of the institutions you can transfer to/from is Scottrade, I have a Scottrade account and the only way to withdraw money without being charged is to call and request a check, they charge $20 for a wire transfer, What if I linked Scottrade to HSBC and initiated a pull from HSBC, would their be a charge from Scottrade? Is one institution allowed to charge you a fee if you initiate a transfer from another institution? |

I'm trying to setup ACH transfers between HSBC and Scottrade, It's asking me for my account #, and the number that appears on Scottrade checks, I don't have any Scottrade checks, when I check the Scottrade website it shows a ABA # for wiring funds, can I use the ABA # to set up ACH transfers?
Thanks. |

basically ACH transfers are combination of ur account number and routing number. I think routing number is also called ABA number. just verify once with ur bank.
shhh.
