I am thinking about moving over to ED. What do you guys recommend putting the money into just a normal savings? What about a money market account or the bonus market account? |

Minoritydan said:I pick up pennies when I see them on the ground. I recently cashed in $350 worth of pennies (Yes, only pennies!) at my Credit Union here at work (it took several trips, and was very heavy).
And the $45 difference could mean a "free" month of cell phone use. ($325 - $280)
Actually your bending and lifting of those heavy pennies will cost your spine alot more in the coming years. That's why i say pay the heavy lifters and movers...or you can pay me later for treating your low back pain.

Does ING still have its $25 bonus if you sign up/ referred by somebody? If so is there a minimum amount of $ to put in the account and/or min. days to keep it in the account? |

You can get $50 if you open an account and have MS Money (need serial number) or Taxcut (need code but see thread below).
Oh, and you can open an account with just $1. MS Money thread

FWbroke said:on $10k interest would be ED $325 and ING $280 (just straight not conpounded) that is not enough of a difference for me to move my money away from ING.
Considering the small amount of effort it took to move my money out of ING and into ED, I made the switch. A few extra mouse clicks for ~$50 extra in interest this year is a no brainer IMO. |

boden11 said:That's the best part of ING is that since the money compounds annually and they give you day by day cumulative interest amounts, it's just so easy to figure out if it's worth breaking the CD. And again, the reason why it's always best to just ladder and forget about it. I'm not really concerned if ING is lagging by even 50bps to another bank. If I was I'd just throw it into the stock market and blend it into my portfolio. Cash will almost always generate poor returns at the banks (and when it doesn't it's because inflation is on a tear, and so you really aren't making much in real terms).
Actually on INGDirect.com, it states this How do you calculate the interest on my account? Interest on your savings account is accrued daily, compounded monthly and credited to your available balance at the end of each month. |

Also since i am in high school, I will be putting in about 1200 dollars a year, that is only $5 more in interest if i signed up with Emigrant. Since I knew i would get a $50 bonus if i signed up with ING, i choose them. Maybe in a couple years, i will transfer over. |

you guys with just 10k in the bank won't care to move.
but the people with over 50k will be earning at least an extra $225 per year.
I could use $225 on more artery-cloggin quarterpounder burgers heheh. I noticed the interest counter at the bottom of ING's website is running a little bit slower. |

Does anyone have a Citibank checkings linked to an ING Savings Acct? By looking at the Terms on Citibank's site, it sounds like they charge fees to move funds out of a Citi acct and into a non-Citi acct. Anyone have experiences to share?
I have a Bank of New York checkings right now and they say an ACH to ING savings is free otherwise to transfer funds is a "wire" transfer and costs $30 each time. |

I know this is not the correct forum for this discussion, but you shouldn't settle for $25, look here to get $50 for opening an account - read the whole thread. |

According to my bank, it is just a direct desposit, so there would be no charge. |

Can my wife and I each add a joint account to the individual account's profile? That is, would a joint account be available to both of us for instant transfers and not count toward the limit of 3 linked EXTERNAL accounts? TIA |

I have Citi connected to ING. As long as you are iniitating your transactions from ING, you are fine. The T&Cs are for transactions initiated from Citibank. |
