When my wife got her old (non-5% card) card changed over to the 5% on everyday, the letter said "We have changed your AT&T Universal Cash Rewards Card to the AT&T Universal Cash Rewards Card".

bump

The wife and I both applied online and both have to play the waiting game. Anyone get immediate approval?

Edit:
Actually, I just got a phone call from CSR. I had to close an older ATT Universal account to be approved for this one. They took that CL and added it to the minimum $500 CL for a new card. BTW, I had three cards (2 ATT, 1 Upromise).

Thanks OP for posting this.

Applied online and like the vast majority I have to play the waiting game! Will update once I hear anything.

I have a question: with the above referenced offer, is there a balance transfer fee (max $75) on the promotional 0% until 5/1/06 (for those that spoke to a CSR?), as it appears to me there is?

Because at www.universalcard.com, the terms and conditions for its offer (no 5% on everything, just 5% grocery, gas, supermarket, and 1% everything else) says: "Transaction fee for balance transfers: 3% of the amount of each balance transfer, $5 minimum, $75 maximum. However, there is no fee with the 0.00% APR balance transfer offer described above." In addition, you get 0% for 12 months, but the 12 months doesn't start until you initiate the BT (which can be anytime within the first 12 months the card is open).

I'm just trying to decide which route to go....and want to make sure I'm reading this all correctly --

I believe you have to pay the transaction fee (3% or $75). In previous offers, no BT fee printed on the ad.
0% apr on BT until May 1, 2006.

"To receive a AT&T Universal Cash Rewards Card, you must have an annual income of at least $12000 and you must meet our credit qualification criteria for the AT&T Universal Cash Rewards Card. Otherwise, you may receive a AT&T Universal Cash Rewards Card, provided you meet our credit qualification criteria for the AT&T Universal Cash Rewards Card. The AT&T Universal Cash Rewards Card does not have as many benefits as the AT&T Universal Cash Rewards Card."

i don't make that much money a year (you must have an annual income of at least $12000) since i'm a student and i work part-time. If i apply for it i might not get those benefits?'

Thanks

can anyone answer my question?

thanks, op! I already had 3 citi cards, but the benifits of this one was so tempting. So why not? I scored one by reducing the limits of two other cards as the CSR wanted to limit their exposure to an individual. Going to pay tuition then withdraw. My university always refund by check! easy money! 100 times better than those outrageous D3ll deals in my humble opinion.

I noticed on the application webpage there is a "short cut" link for folks that are already an AT&T cardmember, which I read as they don't mind giving out more than one card per household as it were. Since I just maxed out mine for this year I was thinking of opening another and this moght be the opportunity. Does anyone else actually have more than one Universal card in their name? This seems really strange for the company to offer this. I could see if you and your spouse were separate primary card holders but two cards for the same primary card holder is hard to understand from their end.

I guess I will apply online and see what happens, but I just thought I could ask. This card is great for getting 5% off at WalMart and Sams club (as previously posted- buy WalMart/Sams giftcards at WalMart Supercenters since the transaction is treated as a grocery store purchase.) all year long.

All that seems to do is prefill in some information for you.

Does anyone else actually have more than two Universal cards? (Plus one more Citi)

at one point I had two Universal Cards and one Driver'S edge and my wife had two universal cards, one dividend and one driver's edge.

In my experience they are more likely to approve you for universal card if you do not have a universal card at the moment. So if you've maxed out Cash Back on your old universal card, you can consolidate it in to some other citi card that you have and then apply for new universal card. Also, if you don't have a universal card they are more likely to give you a higher CL on your new universal card. YMMV.

I got this ad from my sunday paper also. I just applied online and got approved at once. This is my first AT&T card.

Anyone has a scan for the ad?

Thanks,

I still think there should be more validation on offer specifics.

I again maintain what I posted earlier that I was told (pretty definitively) that it's 5% on Grocery/Drug/Gas only, & only for 3 mos. A radical departure from prior deals if this is the case.

Can someone who already has the card name a few supermarkets and drugstores which qualify for the 5% rewards (after the 3m promotion period)?

I wonder if any of the following stores in our area would qualify:

Safeway, QFC, Albertson, Fred Meyer, TOP, 99 Ranch, Walgreen, Safeway Gas

Validation for this offer comes in two forms:

First, the offer in the newspaper says 5% Cash Back on Purchases for 3 months, not eligible purchases.

Second, call the number 800-462-4031 and confirm the offer details. I was asked where I live and I said upstate NY and she said it is 5% on ALL purchases.

If it was any different I wouldn't have posted.

Walgreen does count. Sorry not sure about the rest.
