I am sure it might be dumb question. But please clarify me for the sake of my confidance !!

1. Are these on line accounts are safe to save money? There is huge difference in APY when compared to regular B&M banks.

2. Can we tranfer money between two online accounts? i.e between ING Direct & Emigrant?

You do not need the software, just the code (look here )and the code is 58978755 (enter in the bottom box). Stop talking about a $25 bonus! It is actually $50!!!

This does me little good since Ive had the accout for over a year Man.

Ill call and see if I can get it nonetheless. Thanks for the code.

FYI - I just tried. Since I am already an account holder I was unable to proceed and get the $50. So for now its referrals and other sign up bonuses only

I opened the ING account, got the $50 then moved to ED when they jumped up to 3.25.

dont worry, e-d will soon follow. i just noticed that etrade bumped the 1 yr cd rates to 3.68 today.

Can you link Emigrant Direct with ING so one can transfer money back and forth without having to go through your linked checking account? Thus, it would be faster to move our money with whoever has the higher rate.

cool they are catching up slowly

I do remember reading about ING having routing and account numbers, and that you can transfer from ING using these. Not sure if Emigrant has it, you can always call them and ask or read through past threads, put some effort into it.

You have two options:

1. Your friend refers you, you receive $25, your friend receives $10
2. You use the TaxCut or Quicken process and receive $50.

Pick one.

Emigrant Rounting Number -- 226070319

ING Direct Routing Number -- 031176110

When you sign up for Emigrant, you can link ING if you specify ING as your "external checking" when you sign up online. YOU must do this First, as your primary checking account. Then you can link your second "real" checking account by sending EDB a check from your bank.

To add a second checking account you must mail in a check made out to EmigrantDirect for at least one dollar with your EmigrantDirect account number and the words “additional external account” on the Memo line. The name on the accounts must be the same. We can only accept your personal check as a second linked checking account. For your protection, EmigrantDirect places a temporary restriction on transfers to new linked accounts for up to 8 business days

Ha! Just on time!!! I took out my sucky 12 months 1.45% CD matured yesterday and place it to ING.

I tried to fund it from a credit union savings account (no free checking there). Two small deposits went through (and I confirmed them), but then the pull failed. ING closed the account!

I called and they opened a new Orange Savings and credited the bonus. The same CU account is still linked. They said they'll try to pull via ACH again, but I am pretty sure it will fail.

In my account information for my American Dream Emigrant Direct savings account it is showing

Interest Rate: 3.200000%
Last Statement APY: 3.300000%

are you sure it is 3.25% and not 3.20%?

alert mods

ED is currently advertising 3.25% APY, which it has been for a little while now. There are rumors that they are in the process of going to 3.3% APY, but I haven't seen any changes in my account or on their website yet. Your account data is a bit confusing, because your current rate of 3.2 amounts to an APY of 3.25, which is what I see in my account, but it doesn't make sense that your last statement APY was higher than it is now.

So, since I already have ING and Emigrant accounts, can I later link the two?

I think you need to open up a new account at EDB with ING as the initial funding account. I have multiple accounts there, so this can be done.

You can link a second account by sending them a check ... dont think you can write a check off your ING...

When you ACH in and out from ING do they still do that 10 day hold?

This isn't completely on topic but does anyone put money in ING's mutual funds. I havn't yet graduated college and don't have a ton of money but I was thinking about putting 1k-2k in an ING mutual fund partly to earn a little more interest and partly to get some experience with funds.

What are the chances the ing bond fund would earn more than the savings account in the next year or so. I'm thinking bond becuase of the lower risk and ING becuase they allow as little as 1000 investment.

Is it possible to open a saving account (ING) for my children (age 7, and 10),
then link their account to my checking (for accessability)?

Thanks
