This new offer: 1. gives you $100 (in "Citi thankyou points" gift cards like Exxon/Mobile, etc) 2. only requires 1 purchase of any size with cc.
I received my offer by mail but it doesn't have a special offer code, just a special phone number to apply.
call 1-888-292-1942
Get $100 Gift Card (10,000 bonus points from thankyou points network) after your 1st purchase.
Get 3 points/$ for "business-related" expenses like gas, restaurants, car rentals, office supplies. Get 1 point /$ for others.
Redeem for thankyou points catalog gift certs (like exxon/mobile or shell gas cards, HomeDepot, etc) or Air Travel with no black-out dates.
No annual fee, 0% no-fee balance transfers until 1-1-2006.
I didn't do the other ipod offer but I doubt that you can do both since it is for the same business card. I always prefer the flexibility of cash/cash equivalents over a single choice "gift" .
Professional/business cards may have less consumer protections....make sure one checks the T&Cs...
from the first line of fine print:
" Citi Professional Card is considered a business purpose credit card and not a consumer credit card. Please note that certain consumer rights do not apply to this account."
just to let everyone know that this offer is still active through the website.
i tried the phone number listed in the OP, but the number is busy (disconnected?)
applied over internet and was given instant approval.
Anyways... 10000 points after first purchase. 3 points at office stores and restaurants.
EDIT: btw, I feel this is HOTTER than Ipod deal since the value of the 512mb is approx 100$, but I prefer a gift card. And Muvos are better than ipods shuffles anyways.
One note of caution... Citibank is have huge problems getting Professional cards activated in the Thank You network. You can check your point balance by logging onto citicards.com but you can't access the Thank You network website.
This has been going on for over a month with no resolution. I've had several conference calls between a Citibank cust care rep and a Thank You rep (yes, they are different people).
There is another type of card also impacted (can't remember which one), but this isn't the greatest deal if you're in a hurry.

thanks for the warning..... i'm personally not in a hurry... I was really more interested in the 3% (or points) at restaurants, and the 10000 bonus points was just a big plus.
I assume they will fix it eventually, but I am disappointed that they are still having this issue even after 1 month (last post prior to mine was 5/1/05).
I think they fix the problem now. I can login the website after 5 weeks after my account open.
Did any one have the offer code for the $100 offer?
Thank you a lot, Kelvin

Yeah, this is a good deal, I think. I signed up for a Citibank Platinum Select card at Cardoffers.com and when they called me to check me out, they also offered me the Professional Card with the 10,000 reward points. I was looking for a restaurant card - I got the Discover 5% card, but the cafeteria at work doesn't take Discover and I eat there probably 4 times a week. Now I can get 3% on those meals. And the upfront bonuse is very nice.
Citi gave me a $1K credit line hehe. They said I have too high of credit line with them on other cards.
Question, I'm confused. I have an exisint online account for another citi card, I added this Professional into the account. Does the ThankYou points show up in the original ThankYou account or should it have it's own login?
The initial purchase could be for any purchase, right? I wasn't being "professional" when I paid for something on eBay Oh and how long does it normally take for the TY points to show up?
I haven't received my 1k points yet. Am I the only one??
Just spoke with them for the third time trying to get a status on my points, and they refuse to give me the points because they have no record of my signing up with that promo! They want PROOF that I got the offer. what the heck?
I'm also waiting for my 10K points that's why I was wondering about the kind of purchases I can make with this card. I made my first purchase 9/21 and have not received a statement yet.
I recently applied for the Diamond Rewards card and got a call about the Professional card as well. When I spoke to the guy it sounded better, since they were giving a higher credit limit, upt to $600 in points/cash per year. He also mentioned that the 5% Diamond Rewards were only good for a year, after that they go back to 1%. Said on the professional card that the 3% was good forever. So far so good.
Then it gets better (not): I then asked him if application for this card is available through their website. Said "no this isn't generally available". Turns out it is, never mentioned that the 3% is on office supply stores, restaurants and gas, versus gas, convenience and grocery stores (which I use a lot more than office supplies!). I then noticed a comment on FW about the consumer protection. Guess what's missing from the professional card -
"$0 Liability on Unauthorized Purchases You won't lose a penny when you use your Citi card online or anywhere. With $0 Liability, you can have peace of mind knowing that you won't be held responsible for any unauthorized charges to your account."
Needless to say I'm po'd that they misrepresented this card.
