sweet, thanks for posting OP! This is yet another new Citi deal.

Too bad theres a $100 cap on the 10%. There are Citi cards discussed in this forum which give $100 GC just for signing up, so those may be more attractive to some...but combined with 15 months at 0% on BTs, this card has its uses as well.

Only $100 for 3 months. I hate to have more and more Credit Cards.

sigh.. only to new applications..

I have a platinum select, and in other deals like Citi ATT cash reward, or Citi dividend, people apply for multiple cards. So why not apply for a new card to get in on this deal?

too many hard pulls recently.. high CL exposure in citi cards.
plus, don't apply more than 2 citi cards in 60 days period. it is easy to get rejected for this reason.

Good find, OP. 10% is sweet. But the $100 limit make it just an ok deal. I'd rather apply for the sony card which pays $100 after the first purchase.

Besides, Citi is likely to reject application from people who have many recent inquiries.

I currently have one credit card, a secured Visa from Bank of America, which has been open and in good standing since February (have not had a hard inquiry since January)... do you think I would be able to get this card?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm... that depends on if the $100 earned under the 10% counts towards your annual limit of $300/yr or not. If it doesn't, technically you can earn $400 your first year. If it does, then that's not really giving you something "extra" unless you don't usually hit your $300/yr limit...

It's extra if you wouldn't otherwise spend enough to max out the rewards on both your Citi Platinum Select and AT&T Universal Cash Rewards cards.

Thanks OP. Got the card and confirmed with CSR that I'll get 10% Cash Back.

What don't they just give us $100 credit / bonus. That 10% is just for marketing.

they want you to actually use the card

I am surprised people did not jump on this one.

I got this applied to my existing AT&T card for the next three months. Here's how.

I called the 1-800 number above and asked him to apply the offer to my card. He said he cannot do that and gave me this number 1-800-950-5114 to call. I did so and the conversation went like this.

How may I help you?
I received a promotion in the mail which offers 10% Cash Back for the first 3 months with a $100 cap.

can you please hold on?
sure...

OK I found the offer and you will start receiving 10% from June 1 (I already have a 5% on all offer till May 31)

I am surprised it's so simple. How do I care!! It worked for me.

Good luck.

It's worth changing the title to "Hot! citi Platinum Select MasterCard 10% Cash Back for 3 months" so that it ends up in the mail box of more FWers using topic alerts.

I just applied for a Citi Platinum Select card about a week ago. Seems to be one of the better reward systems out there.

I figure if you're going to spend the money, you might as well get something in return.

applied for 2 CCs, a bank account, all got hard inq's on my CR.

I Confirmed !!! Just got my 10% applied to the citi platinum (old account)
Thanks!!

I called and could not get this applied to my existing Citi Dividend Platinum Select card. CSR said I would have to apply for another card to get this.

budster said: I called and could not get this applied to my existing Citi Dividend Platinum Select card. CSR said I would have to apply for another card to get this.
Anyone else have better luck getting this applied to a Citi Dividend Platinum Select card?

When does the 10% start? When you activate the card or when you applied or when you received the card? Anyone know? I want to hold off starting the 10% as long as possible.

statom said: When does the 10% start? When you activate the card or when you applied or when you received the card? Anyone know? I want to hold off starting the 10% as long as possible.
I would guess that it starts when your application is approved, don't think it matters when you activate it.
so the only way to hold off the 10% is to apply later

If I switch to this card...assuming they let me...does it revert back to the 5% and 1% that I currently get when the 10% promo is over ?

I bet it does!
But even if it does not, you can always ask them to add 5%/1% to your account or convert the card again to something that has 5%/1%

No luck whatsoever getting them to put the deal on my AT*T card.

According to two different CSRs, the 5%/1% is NOT available on this card after you reach the $100 cap. It will be necessary, as fotomaniak has pointed out, to call and request a conversion.

I want to eventually open a Citi Dividend card for the 5% ED for the long run, my plan is to apply for this card then use it purchase a plasma TV for $1400. Then switch over to the dividend card, will this work? Here's my questions.

-How soon can I expect to get the 10% Cash Back? Should I wait after I recivied the 10% before switching over? Is it easy and no hassle?
-My main concern is with the card's extended warranty benefit because I am planning to purchase the 3G plasma in hotdeal w/ this card.
-How good is MC's extended warranty comparing to Visa (currently charged w/ my Amazon visa)?
-Will I have any problem with the extended warranty if I switch over to divided card later on, I mean will they not consider the purchase qualify since it's a different card?

Thanks for giving me some pointers.

I want to know too!

i have no idea how the 1 guy on here got this on ATT but to tell you all the truth, none of you will get this on your existing accounts.

actually, i dont even believe that he got this on his ATT card.

Don't jump to conclusions. Outcomes vary widely depending on the knowledgeability
and willingness of the CSR you happen to speak to. I'm sure most CSR's couldn't care less about telling someone "no".

that offer is NOT available. it doesnt matter what csr you speak to. they cant make offers appear when theyre not already on the acct, and this one is not going to be on any existing account.

I want to apply for this card to get the 10% and then switch over to dividend card but the CSR told me that they dont switch but rather you can get the new card and cancel the old one? is that true? I guess in this case the warranty is out of the question since it will be a totally different account and card.

Anyone get this card and then not get the 10%? I have had this card for about a month now and when I checked online there was no mention of the 10%. I called and was told that the 10% did not exist and I could not have possibly thought I was going to get this etc. etc. They told me to fax in the flyer for proof and that the matter will take several weeks to resolve.

doesn't work on dividend card.
the CSR actually tried to find any offers associated with my current account, of course
she couldn't.

got $100 credit, thanks OP.
(i've applied for new card)

how did you apply, the online application doesn't seem to metion anything
about the bonus.

I've applied on line
on-line app didn't mention the bonus, but the flyer does, and the URL for application is in the flyer.

I am still fighting with Citi Cards over this 10% rebate. Has everyone else gotten this 10% Cash Back?

So this card only has a 0% for 12 (possibly 15) months? No 0% on purchases??? If it does have 0% on both I want to get it and use it for the 10% as mucha s possible AND transfer my 0% AMEX to it. But I wont if its not 0% on purchases. I may just skip this one and get the universal card that popped up today with no fee balance transfer and just get the cit dividend platinum card for my 5% and keep em separate. I'd like to just build myself up to about 10 to 20K across a couple cards running along at 0% all the time by useing 0% on purchasing cards and always useing the card and only paying the minimum. Then keep it moving around and getting the interest. I'd look at it as a free vacation or two a year off the interest. Oh well.

ALSO: Are universal and Citi the same? The universal deal that popped up today mentions citi on the link page. If they are the same I'll have to be careful about getting too many citi cards. I will deff ned the 5% in 3 months when my AMEX eclipses its first year. Right now its rolling in 5% and 0% int for a year. I just don't wanna mess that up and get declines on something I need.

Yeah, but are they on the same CR? I've applied recently for a Chase and a Citi, and got one hard inquiry each on Experian and Equifax (forget which was which). So effectively I only have 1 hard inq.
