I just did a CL increase on my Bofa CC. It was on the phone. The CSR did not mention anything about the credit history pull. Does it mean that it is soft?

While, for my FirstUSA bank CC, the CSR mentioned that they submit a request which will result in Credit history pull (a hard pull)

I just love AMEX! Only thing I've been doing is using the online CLI link and enter the four digit code on the card.

AMEX Blue with 0% APR on purchases for 15 months.
Initial limit was $3,400 late June 06. Typically charge about $500-$1,000 monthly. Currently carrying a balance of about $2,000ish.

Few Days later - $4,300 [$900 increase]
Late July 06 - $5,200 [$900 increase]
Late August 06 - $6,500 [$1,300 increase]
Just Today - $10,300 [$3,800 increase] (Largest jump)

$3,400 to $10,300 in about three months. Not bad. This is my first credit card with at least a $10,000 limit.

In comparsion, my two citicards and one chase card have limits ranging from $3,600 to $4,800. Held both the citicards for at least a year.

Converted my Citi Dividend to Diamond Preferred recently. Received the card today and called to activate. CL is $11500. The CSR said she could increase it to $13500 if I agree to do a BT at 3.99% with no other fees. I declined.

The Dividend card has been in-use for more than 2 years, but I have tried the auto CLI button a couple times recently. I got the long form every time.

Weird, its like a negotiation. I wonder what would have happened if you countered with 1.99% or something?

I won't even accept it even at 1.99%, as I have other cards that give 0% BT. In addition I found it very difficult to understand the Indian CSR anyway.

Well if it was a no-fee BT..

What if you BT'ed just to get it up to the new CL (13.5k), then paid it all off within the same billing cycle. Wouldn't pay much in interest I presume. That's only if you really wanted the CLI. Just a thought.

Good work. None of them caused a hard pull?

AMEX has been very good to me. Got AMEX Blue for $2400 (I only have 10 months of credit history). First statement closed today and I paid online. Hit CLI button and doubled my CL to $4800.

Something weird has happened. I checked my account the day after that conversation, and notice that my CL has increased from 11500 to 12100. How odd.

Anyone else here get the MBNA Quantum Card? My household brought in over $700K last year from casino revinue's and they only gave me a $150K Limit (MAX $250K Limit). I had called in to get a credit line increase on my other MBNA card and after the cards limit was raised from $25K to $35K, the CSR recommended I get the Quantum Card. Still disapointed. And! They even got my W-2 and a letter from our tribal office explaing what each tribal member recieves, and my tribal ID card.

I also called in to BofA to increase my Visa Signature Limit, which they did from $15K to 25K.

Info: 2 Year Credit History in good standing.

First let me begin by stating that I'd definitely be interested in becoming a member of the household, conditioned upon the income remaining steady.

Joking aside, I had the MBNA Quantum card and actually switched to a different product as MBNA was not overly generous with their limits. That said, with a two year credit history, you may see the line jump markedly over the next few years. Even with financials, MBNA seems to place an emphasis on length of dealings with them. At least that's what happened in my case. The longer I kept MBNA cards and paid them in full, the higher the credit limits became. Just be patient and ask every several, perhaps 4-8, months for a CLI. You'll probably qualify quickly for an increase. Keep in ind that at such a high line, automatic increases may or may not be made available as frequently. You may well have to ask in order to receive.

Good luck.

Wow. Started reading this thread and figured, what the hell, I'll log in to my USAA account and see what's up. USAA standard Mastercard, $2K limit. Entered my household income and now it's $30K. No inquiry, according to the language on the web page. Wow.

If you entered info generally its for a pull

I just clicked on the increase CL link with Citi and got this message:

We can not increase your limit at this time because "Your payments have been low on one or more of your accounts with us"

Anyone ever get that? I have some 0% money out, and alway pay more than the min.

AMEX - The online CLI link has not worked for me this month but I called in through the automated menu. Call in, punch in card number and password as prompted, say "Other Services." Next menu say "Credit Increase." Follow the prompts. I got my Costco TrueRewards AMEX bumped from 15k to 25k.
