Seems like Chase will give CLI via phone when you call n talk to their credit dept. I was denied online with a hard pull. So I called n spoke to an Indian CSR n told her that I've not gotten a CLI in forever...she put me on hold for a few minutes and came back n approved the CLI instantly. No new pulls were done. What surprised me was that the info they used to deny the CLI online was using an old version of my credit report. I mentioned about mortgage and she did not see it on the report that they had. Then she retrieved the version that was pulled during online CLI request and she noticed the mortgage. Why does Chase cache credit reports? Is it allowed to do so??

How long does AMEX take to report CLIs to the credit bureaus ?

I got a CLI from them on 1/11 and it is still not showing up on my report 18 days later.

Probably a few days after your "statement close" date.

Could you define "forever?" 6 months , 1 year, etc.

AMEX is normally 1 statement behind. If your statement closes on 1/31, the CLI probably won't show until the end of February.

I've had the account for 6 years. It was the Citi Sony card that got sold to BankOne which was bought over by Chase. In all that time, I did not get a single CLI from BankOne/Chase. The only CLI came from consolidating another Chase card with this about 2 years ago.

Inspired by all the excellent info I decided to go ahead and do a CLI !

Filled up the form on AMEX Blue Cash and changed my CL from 2900% to 9900$
(before reading this thread I was totally unaware about and had a preconceived notion that for every CLI there is a hard inquiry)

Thought of doing the same for my Chase Rewards.
Filled up the form and got the following response.
Thank you. We will respond to your request within one business day.

Would they pull my credit report ?
I am planning to do a mini-AOR sometime soon and hence was concerned.

Chase usually pulls credit reports for CLI. I believe some people have reported luck when calling the CSRs and asking over the phone.

I wouldn't worry about it. Inquries hit your credit report instantly (or at least as soon as the CC issuer gets around to pulling your report). So during your AOR the cards you apply for last will have to deal with inquries left from the first cards you applied for. Thus you apply for the cards you really want first.

I'm a law student. I've increased my Citi Dividend from 6200 to 22500 in about a year, and my BoA motley fool from 5000 to 17500 in the same period. With BoA, I've just been using the online form since the form states that your report will not be pulled. I'm assuming its a soft inquiry.

It would be most helpful if you specified how you raised your credit lines from 6200->22500 and 5000->17500.

I think cardinalandgoldfan said he got the 5000->17500 from BoA using online form. I will be curious to know the Citi part too. Citi has been really mean with my credit limits.

BusterBaxter was right, for my BoA, I just used the online form.

For Citibank, I used the online form as well, unfortunately, I finally read the small print a month ago and realized that Citi, unlike BoA reserves the right to do a hard pull, so Citi might or might not have done a hard pull (I haven't checked my credit report in a couple of months).

I'd just close the card, its no big deal... Worth the risk in my opinion.

Do check your state's CRIMINAL code - in some states lying on the credit card application is a felony. Still worth the risk?

Here's an excerpt from AZ Revised statutes:

13-2107. False statement as to financial condition or identity; classification

A. A person commits false statement as to financial condition or identity if the person makes or causes to be made, either directly or indirectly, any false statement in writing as to a material fact, knowing it to be false, with the intent that it be relied on respecting the identity of that person or of any other person, firm or corporation or the financial condition of that person or of any other person, firm or corporation, for the purpose of procuring the issuance of a credit card.

B. False statement as to financial condition or identity is a class 5 felony

regarding Chase - i did request CLI online from about 10K to 15K for both my personal and my business card. I found they did a hard pull in Experian for both accounts the same day.

Since my Chase Freedom Card (converted from Flexible Rewards) only had a limit of $3,600 since I opened it July 2006 which is $2,600 below my lowest and $11,400 below my highest and was close to 50% usage of the limit, I did a CLI this morning using the online form. Asked for $10,200 with annual income $110,000. (It is not explicit whether it's household or personal so I used household) I get a e-mail message from Chase a few hours later saying they have raised my limit to $15,200, greater than my request of $10,200 because of my positive credit history (about 1 and 3/4ths years old). I was greatly pleased. Don't know yet which report Chase pulled but it was worth it. Now my Chase card is the highest by $200...lol

Chase did do a hard pull for CLI and unfortunately even rejected my CLI request. Waiting for the letter.

On what should/does it depend how much CLI we should ask ?
I had a CL of 2100$ and I asked for 5000 since all my other cards have a avg. CL of approx. 8000 $

Got a question regarding Citi CLI on their website. I haven't gotten an auto CLI screen in quite sometime (9-10 months). It keeps going to the page where you input a bunch of information and then they run a hard inquiry. I have 4 credit lines with them (Citi Shell 11,700; Citi Diamond 22,300; Citi Dividend 1k (just moved 18k line over to diamond); and Citi PremierPass 2k (moved 3k over to Diamond).

Have I reached some limit with Citi based on the credit info they have on me before they have to do a hard inquiry? Has anyone else experienced this? Please let me know.

Thanks
