I just happened to press Ctrl-Alt-Del on my Windows computer and look at the "Processes" tab of the task Manager that came up. It turns out that I'm running an application called CLI.exe and one of its operating parameters is 13,808K!

For fun I requested increases to 5 of my 6 Citibank credit cards (all five are zero balance). I have one CitiBusiness Card which is 91% utilized with a $28,000 credit line. I requested increases April 25, 2008 based on this link

My one 12 year personal account immediately told me to contact customer service.

The three 10-month personal accounts each had me fill out a form asking for the usual income and banking information.

My one 10-month business account provided a form but did NOT ask for banking information:

Citi® MasterCard® Div Plat Sel age=12yr 6mo Line =3000
Please contact Customer Service at 1-800-950-5114 to check on the status of your request.
Citi ProfessionalSM Card age= 0yr 10mo Line=23500
By submitting this form you authorize Citibank (South Dakota) to check your credit history.
We received your Credit Line Increase request and have forwarded it to our Credit Department for review.
Citi® Upromise® Platinum Select® age= 0yr 10mo Line=11000
By submitting this form you authorize Citibank (South Dakota) to check your credit history.
We received your Credit Line Increase request and have forwarded it to our Credit Department for review.
AT&T Universal Platinum Card age= 0yr 10mo Line =1000
By submitting this form you authorize the issuer of the AT&T Universal Card to check your credit history.
We received your Credit Line Increase request and have forwarded it to our Credit Department for review.
CitiBusiness PremierPassSM Card age= 0yr 10mo Line =2000
This form is to request purchase line increase only. If you are requesting an increase in the cash advance
limit, a credit line decrease, or an emergency increase, then you should contact Customer Service at 1-866-
    606-3382

Yes, and people wonder why I run Linux.

Recently called Citi (9.5k), Chase (~4.5k), Discover (~5.5k) and CrapOne (3k). All wanted a hard pull before offering a higher limit

edit: and I have 8 years with 1 neg for 30 days late (from CrapOne of all cards!) I pay in full, 11 accounts all paid as agree, fico scores 726-750.

I have a Barclay's (Juniper) Sinclair Mastercard which I have been using 2-3 times a month for gasoline for 5% Cash Back.

It's been 6 months since I opened the account, so I called and asked "if I qualify for an increase to my credit limit". They were able to bump it from $2500 to $3000 (kind of a crappy increase) but there was no hard pull.

I also had some luck with my Discover Gas card which has been open more then 1 year now, but I haven't been using it quite as much as my Sinclair card. The bump was from $4500 to $5500 - I asked the question the same way when I called, and no hard pull.

My FACO scores are 700+ on all 3 CBs.

I don't get it. Did the one negative late/'do i qualify' question really make that much of a difference, where Rob's CSRs told him 'hard pull' and flwsoldier's was a soft? Is something else happening here?

In many years of carrying Chase CCS I have never seen Chase increase a personal CL without a request until now.
The Biz cards, yes. But personal CLIs have always required a request (and a hard inquiry too)

But when my sister received her May Chase statement she saw this message:

Congratulations! Your credit line has been increased. Take advantage of your enhanced
spending power to make purchases and transfer balances today.

And they raised her line by 3K.

Nothing yet on our family's (collective) 8 personal Chase cards but I'm hoping that this indicates a new trend.

Anybody else receive new CLs from Chase?

And another CC that just raised a limit without a request--

Wells Fargo

NOW YOU HAVE MORE PURCHASING POWER. WE’VE
INCREASED YOUR CREDIT LINE. THANKS FOR
CHOOSING US AS YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY

IMO more CCS should do this.

If you log into your Penfed account and get a preapproved offer for a credit card. You can accept the offer and it gives you the option to add the approved credit line to an existing card. A member on there talked to a CR and confirmed there was no hard pull.

The website isn't working properly so you can't use the "accept" link under the credit card picture; the next page doesn't work. You have to use the "view all offers" link under the customize picture and select credit card offers.

Thanks for the heads up! I logged into my PenFed account and was also offered a new card or increasing the CL on my existing card with the CL offered ($10,400), so I opted for the increase in my existing CL. Went from $30,000 to $40,400.

By the way, the CSRs over the phone do not see the pre-approved offers on their screens/computers so it's a web-only feature on your account and they can't do it over the phone.

I got a preapproved offer a week or two back and bumped my CL from 6K to 44K. No hard pull.

pras.

How long were you a member before you got the offer?

Then the next important question is to pull from whom: many of us may have several already from one, but none or very few from an other.

It seems that recently Chase has been pretty good with CLIs.

Please: do not do this too often---repeated requests will likely result in FR.

Uso said:I got my AMEX simplycash in January. They give me a $3000 CL. Since then, I tried to increase my CL through online twice. both time, they said wait 5-7 days. Then I got denied letter. I think I put in the wrong info. Can someone tell me what I really should put in the income to make this CL go through?

On income, I put in 70,000. Should I include my wife's income in here? which will be 140,000 combined.

On business revenue, I put 25,000. That is my second job income for last year (real estate agent). Am I wrong entering that amount for the revenue? Should I put my revenue as 1.5 million, which is the sum of the house sold price.

Thanks in advance!

That is a near miracle: never heard USbank giving CLI within first 30 days. Super for you!

pisistratus said:Data point

Asked USBank for CLI from 10,400 to 11,100, 10k in AOR. With the first payment, this increase took me below 89% utilization.

Since it was a new card, and CLI within 30 days, they did not pull a hard.

So far, it's my largest credit limit.

Is there any merit to changing the summary to include information about not just whether a hard-pull was required for the CLI, but also whether one had to put in information about _individual_ income? There are a number of us AORers who are running off of parental HHI, so I've had to back off of asking for a CLI for issuers requesting personal income information - I believe BoA and Discover fell into this category? Citi asked for nothing, kindly enough.

Keep in mind though, I don't mind sifting through fools gold to find the real stuff (if that makes sense.

I modified the QS for Citi CLIs as they now appear to not be available online with the new webpage design (personal side - business cards can still request online CLI).

Huh, I got two CLIs online with Citi just last night... Anyone able to confirm disappearance of the functionality? (Or disconfirm?)

I don't see it on my personal cards either, maybe I'm just overlooking it.

Is there a strategy on getting CLI from AMEX? I received my first AMEX card, The Blue Cash about three months ago with a 7.5K limit. After setting up online, I clicked the CLI button...got a letter in the mail that they do not increase credit limits on new accounts for 60 days. Is that a standard AMEX policy? I haven't tried it again...any suggestions on what to do or expect? Many thanks in advance.
