Update 9/10/08: Confirmed that Discover pulled Experian, per PM123's alert this morning: A new inquiry has appeared on your credit report. Here are the details of this inquiry: Alert type: Bank/Credit Card Inquiry Creditor type: Bank Credit Cards Date of alert: 09/09/2008 Creditor name: DISCOVER FINANCIAL SERVICES Creditor address: PO BOX 15316WILMINGTON, DE 19850 Creditor phone number: 800- 3472683 Bureau: Experian I decided to call Discover's customer service to find out what their reasoning was for the low CLI and they transferred me to the credit manager (a very pleasant and friendly one too!). She told me that the reason why it was only a $4K increase was because I did not specify the amount of the CLI requested. So, I asked her, "How about $25K?" She then said that for a $25K CL, they'd need me to fax in W2's, tax returns, etc. I then asked her what the threshold is, and she said, $24.5K. So, she submitted it for $24.5K while reviewing my Experian report that she had on her desk, and within moments, it came back approved for $24.5K. And no additional hard pull. That said, it looks like $24,500 is the amount that you can ask for (based on a hard pull) without having to need to submit or fax in additional documentation. Hope this helps those who are trying to get higher CLs with Discover. |
