Never hurts to try. Just remember to apply for student and non-student ones on the same day Apply for student ones first, since you'll have easier time qualifying. Also see if one of your parents wants it - never hurts to spread the wealth. These are all good cards, except for Sony probably, as they have other redeeming qualities past the initial cash/giftcard bonus.
Speaking of bonuses, just got my $150 gift card - thanks OP! Now my mini-apporama is done! 6 month to wait for the next deal

Hey, I'm a freshly minted 18 year old and I was wondering what is meant when a card (say for example the sony card with the $100 credit) says that they'll give you the $100 credit after the first. Do they give you Cash Back or is it just like 100 bucks off your first purchase. Thanks for your help. |

I'm on my second $100 Sony promotion, and this time they're making me wait a full 12 weeks. First time around I received the a $100 credit in less than a month though. YMMV. |

As mentioned in the Citi Retention thread here, you can possibly get up to 5k bonus rewards points if you try to cancel your Diamond Preferred Rewards card after cashing in the initial 10k points. Just ask to be transferred to retention when you cancel, and then ask for the 5k bonus. You have to make $300 in new purchases on the card to get the new points, but apparently you can try the trick again after cashing in the 5k. I was able to get 3k when cancelling and didn't even know anything about this before now. |

This page has a link to get a $75 Best Buy Gift Card with the MERRILL+ card, issued by MBNA. However, when you clink on the link, it doesn't give you any more information about the gift card.

Citibank is still offering a $50 gift card with the AT&T Universal Rewards Card. Not as good as the $100 gift card with the Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card though. Plus they're basically the same card.

The Schwab online app doesn't work anymore, but I just called 1-866-724-9223 and gave the code GG57 and the CSR confirmed that the $100 GC offer is still valid. Approval on the spot. $13,000 CL. Stingy Citi only gave me $4,900 earlier today. And the Sony app didn't give instant answer. I guess this is my mini app-o-rama day. I have 795-813 FICO so hopefully not a big ding. Thanks for the update summary, didYOUsearch. |
