Sweet. I was just recently contemplating closing this account too. Glad I waited. They can keep 10k of my money now

10k is 3.15%*

I just wanted to see how long it took for someone to say something.

I don't have literally 10k in there, but upwards of.

I was not happy with VB at all. I went back to ING. Their customer service didn't impress me and they did not pay me on referral fees that were earned.

Virtual currently paying 3.40% APY.

Edit: up to $50k, then 3.30% APY: VB Rates

ditto on the VB referrals, I made all 30 referrals and was credited for 6...

khorne55 said: ditto on the VB referrals, I made all 30 referrals and was credited for 6... Did you complain to them? I haven't had any trouble getting credit for VB referrals, though I've only done 8.

You really got 30 people to sign up for accounts, or did you just send emails to 30 people and only 6 signed up? They have to open the account for you to get the referral bonus of course. Just checking as 30 seems like a lot - you must have a lot of friends!

I roughly remember someone in FWF mention that the Virtual Bank this year start to do HARD credit pull for new customers, is this true?

Thanks.

Now 3.55% APY

Interest rate up from 3.4% APY to 3.55% APY

thanks for the update

Beware of the VirtualBank inactivity fee. They deduct $5.00 from your account each month if its been inactive for more than 12 months. See this link for more information.

good to know.

do they consider just leaving money there and getting the interest credit each month "inactivity"?

logically i would say no, but who knows what some banks think lol

Thanks for the reminder. I have $0 in that account for a few months now. I just sent an email to ask them to close it.

Does anyone have their routing number?

Thank you. I couldn't find it earlier because it's listed under "How do I make my initial deposit", which wan't what I wanted to do! I was looking for something more like "What is VirtualBank's routing number?"

its also under "How do I make regular deposits?"

It used to be right on the side of the My account page when you would login, but now they have a new layout and it doesnt show that anymore, it would also show your interest rate and balance. I dont like this new layout too much.

And it's soooo slow now since this weekend's "upgrade". And once in a while I just keep getting errors for no reason. (I just retry and then it's ok.) Is anyone else getting that too?

Yep, same here. And I can't seem to find my statements for the previous months online on their website anymore after this "upgrade"; now it said on their website that statements from Dec 2005 onwards would be imaged (whatever that means).

Virtual bank just soared from 3.55% APY to 4.5% (4.6% APY)

ewright1975 said: Virtual bank just soared from 3.55% APY to 4.5% (4.6% APY)Finally! But I still don't like their new interface.

i closed my account 2 weeks ago because of there very low rate of 3.55%, but now i would like to put my funs in there, can anybody tell me if i can reopen my account without any hassle ?

uh, maybe call them and ask?

There doesn't seem to be an explicity time limit. This may be a good choice when 4.75 at ing and 4.8 at HSBC return to a 3.8 and 4.25 respectively.

Although I have a feeling that they will let everybody move their money, then after a week go back to something more competitive (but lower than the promo-rates)

GMAC will be going up soon.

See that thread for further details.

I had long ago moved all my money out of virtual except a few cents. I guess its still open. Hope Im not incurring fees.

Not very smart to let everyone move their money out THEN go to something competitive.

At least for ING we know the "non-promo" rate. For HSBC we'll probably have to wait until the promo ends to know the new rate. I'll be searching for the new highest rates around April 1st so I have time to link up the new accounts to HSBC just incase HSBC's non-promo rate sucks.

whats the best way to move funds between these offers? I know that some of these accounts can't inititate the transfer of funds since they don't have ACH. I'm trying to decide on which online high yield account to go with, but can't really decide between the many available offers. Why have you all choosen the accounts that you have?

jabroni1 said: if i can reopen my account without any hassle ?

Now they have a limit of only two accounts.
I had opened 6 accounts but they did not let me open another after that.

Is there some reason that this bank does not get more attention? They are now at 4.6%. How is their transfer? More like ING and EmigrantDirect (quick) or more like HSBC (slow)? They appear to be good......

PastorMikeB said: Is there some reason that this bank does not get more attention? They are now at 4.6%. How is their transfer? More like ING and EmigrantDirect (quick) or more like HSBC (slow)? They appear to be good......

Was wondering the same when trying to figure out where to be ready to move to on May 1st

They also have the $20/$20 referrals IIRC. And the 4.6% is not a promo rate.

1. Can anyone confirm that Virtualbank checking or savings has free ACH pulls and pushes?
2. If so, how fast it is comparing to ED or other banks?

3. I am looking for nice online checking-savings combo with decent savings rate, possibly overdraft protection and business accounts - any good experience here?

ptngr said: ewright1975 said: Virtual bank just soared from 3.55% APY to 4.5% (4.6% APY)Finally! But I still don't like their new interface.

yeah, what's up with that new interface? it sucks big time.
are they trying to confuse people? isn't enough that many people are already scared of internet-only banks? simplify, vb!

I don't have an ED acct but from my experience, VB was the fastest to register deposits. Note: I always use the savings acct to PULL money from the same BofA checking acct.

Approximate times (haven't timed it recently). If I started on Monday morning:
* VB would register the deposit on Tue. Interest Starts on Wed.
* ING would register the deposit on Wed. Interest starts on Thur.
* HSBC would register the deposit on Thur. Interest starts accruing on ???

HSBC apprently uses a third party company to move the money (CashEdge) which probably accounts for the extra delay. I think I saw a link to a FAQ on here but off the transaction screen itself HSBC says they take "3 business days" to complete the xfer.

They are about as quick as Emigrant or ING. The cool thing about them is the funds are avalible as soon as they are in your account without a hold like Emigrant, ING, and HSBC.

I don't know about their other accounts, but the saving account I will probably move all of my money to.

I have a question on the ACH pulls and pushes
How do you set them up?
All I can see is the original that I funded with.

Thanks

Bump, coz HSBC rates are gonna fall to 4.5% soon. Nice bank, great features... I am gonna move my money there... glad I didn't close the account.

How does the tier thing work?

For example, is the 5% paid only on the amounts over $100,000 ? Or is it paid on the entire amount in the account, as long as a person has over $100,000 in the account?
