I know you said that gas cards issued by Citibank cannot be converted into a "regular" Citi card. What about cards issued by Citibank that are not under the "Citi" brand, such as AT&T Universal, Sears Gold Mastercard, and Keybank? My guess is yes to AT&T Universal and no to the others. I called once with some question about my Citi card, and the CSR saw my AT&T card listed under my name but not my Sears MasterCard (I don't have a card with Keybank yet). And AT&T Universal cards are basically the same as Citi cards (Platinum Select, Dividend, and Diamond), except with the additional calling benefits.

Great thread by the way, thanks for helping all of us out!

Well I hope it is not too late for someone to answer my question. I received a Citi Platinum Dividend Card a little over six months ago and recently requested a credit line increase. However, when I clicked on the button "credit line increase request," they immediately declined my request, citing "high cash usage." They didn't even send me to a form. I have a 2500 dollar limit, which I have used quite a bit of, but I have paid every month, on time, and well above the minimum. My questions are, how below my credit line does my balance have to be in order to receive a higher credit line? Has this request affected my credit, as I didn't realize that by just clicking on the button they would automatically review my account. And will I be able to pay some of it off and try again, or should I wait before requesting again? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi citicardman, I just moved out of state for about a month. Is it a factor being considered when I apply credit cards? Thanks.

Hi citicardman,

I am a 19 year old freshman in college with no credit. I want to apply to the Citi Platinum Dividend for students as my first card. Will I qualify or do I need to start with that "crap" card with no benefits?
