Also, I just got the diamond preferred card with 5k limit. Is it possible to get the CL increased if the account is new, or do I have to wait 6 month before asking for an increase?
1st "q" i do not think that this helps you because we are not to share with the other dept. but on the other hand the apple does not fall far from the tree so giving this info on a app mite help. but in the end i dont work in the dept that approves credit. 2nd "q" look through the other answers and you will find what you want |

Great thread!
Is it possible to switch from the Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards card to the Dividend Platinum Select (5%/1%) while keeping the same account # and without having to cancel/reapply? yes, it is possible to switch from the Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards card to the Dividend Platinum Select (5%/1%). but as far as the card # goes as long as it is a master card and begins with 5424 it will stay the same. o and make sure that you cash out any reward points befor you switch, and wait untill the points are remove from the acct to do the switch. |

Another CSR told me that when you request a Virtual Account Number you can specify the length of time it will be active (even as short as one day) or the dollar limit that it can be used for. This provides additional protection: if you want to make an online purchase, you can set up a VAN for just the amount of that purchase. That way even if someone were able to hack the number, it wouldn't do them any good. She told me you can apply for a VAN as often as you like.
But I didn't ask whether you can have more than one VAN at a time -- what if you're shopping online and you set up a VAN for one purchase, then later that day you want to set up another one to buy something else? How many can you have at once?
And another question, about the Driver's Edge card -- the offer I responded to was for 5% rebates for 9 months -- the account was opened in May, so I should have 5% rebates till February, but they keep telling me the 9 months started last fall and will stop July 1. What's the deal with that? If I offer you something for 9 months, how would you feel if I later tell you the 9 months started 6 or 8 months ago?

how often can you apply for a Citi card? (after acceptance, not rejection)?
Is it easy to reallocate credit limits?
Minimum amount of time needed to have cards prior to asking for reallocation?
TIA |

Citi bank closed one of my accounts due to their mistake by sending my new card to someone else, and this "nice" guy called in to report the mistake.
After I called , they told me they would send me a new card in a few days, but they never did. I called again, and they told me after their review of my history, they decided to keep it close. I have no late paid or any other violation to any of my credit cards before, except one of my citi card's CL is $23k (I dont think it is too high) .
I really want to keep that card since it has longest length of time. Do you think I have any change to re-activate this account? |

mdrollas said:Is it true that Citi can only increase your credit limit every 6 month without a hard inq? It's been stated in this thread that its true, but its not. Many of us from over at Creditboards know that you can click on the "credit line increase request" tab every 3 months and often get an increase. It HAS to be at least 3 months though and DW usually waits 3 months and a day or two just to make sure. She's gotten many increases like this in the last year and a half. She went from $1800-->$2600-->$3800-->$4800-->$5800-->$6800...all since Nov '03. No hard pulls on her credit for any of these.
DPG said: Anyway, I can confirm that the multiple applications at the same time will work.Me too. I got the PremierPass and Diamond Rewards Preferred cards on the same day...within minutes of each other.
griffinlaw said:If your application is denied because of "past or present" delinquent credit obligations noted on your credit report, is reconsideration an option? The request would be based on age of the delinquent obligations and the existence of other citi accounts, including cd's, savings and checking products? Also, does citi respond to planet feedback requests for reconsideration?I personally think PFB is the best way to go about this. I've seen many people approved after reconsideration. |

We have a citi bank card with my wife as the primary to take advantage of the 5% back on gas/grocery etc... offer.
Is there a limit (max) one could earn on the rebates in one year's time?
If so, could I apply for another card (since we still get many citibank card applications in the mail) but using me as the primary - in essence - to double our rebate limit?
TIA |

i have 3 cards that i've had for about 4-5 years. no balance and total ~34K credit. These give no rewards, except for the AAA 5% gas rebate. I'm planning on getting 0% BT's. should i close my old cards, leave them open, lower the limit, keep raising it? How do i get a high CL on a 0% BT card? |

In your eyes, what is the best deal that citi has going on right now? I'm looking for a card that gives me great Cash Back rewards (had the mbna card with 10% Cash Back and looking for a replacement since that promotion has expired). |
