I got the invitation and it claims that Earn 5% Cash Back at the grocery store, gas station or drug store and 1% on everywhere else. Sounds like similar to Citi dividend. But I checked Chase.com and didn't find this card. any suggestion? Since I got denied on citi dividend, and this one seems good.

is it really 5% and 1% straight up? I'm really pissed off w/ Chase and the whole experience.
I applied for a chase ultimate rewards which claimed 5% at supermarket, drug store, gas station and home improvement and 1% everywhere else similar to your cash plus platinum "wording". It had no annual rewards car (unlike my current citi's $300/yr per card) so I applied since I max out the reward and have to move onto another citicard every couple months... the ad was vague so I called and asked the CSR before applying...
I specifically asked the outsourved Indian CSR ( I called in broad daylight) who had a really thick accent if there were any tier levels or if you start earning 5% at supermarket, drug store, gas station and home improvement and 1% everywhere else on the first dollar you spend. I don't know how much more specific my question could have been..
she said you get it on the first dollar.. so I submitted my info, got my card and read the terms and guess what? its tiered like my POS AMEX blue cash which I never use because of the tiers... your max is 3% UNLESS you carry a balance.. then you get an extra 2%.. which brings you to the "claimed" 5% back...
you should call and ask them to send the card terms before applying as the CSR's word is crap.. she said I get 5% for the "everyday purchases" on the first dollar.. yet the written card terms that came w/ the card said otherwise..
back to using and maxing the rewards then rolling to the next card w/ my citi dividend, at&t universal cash rewards and drivers edge cards...

Hmmmmmmmm... I actually like them more than Citibank. I think THEY are the worst!
EDIT: If you want to know my experiences with Citi/AT&T, just read this archived thread. In short, anytime your card is fraudulently charged, Citi/AT&T won't believe you and will accuse you of making the whole thing up. Then they will INSIST your mom's name is "James Brown" (as is signed on the receipt), and refuse to take off the charge because the shop is a "preferred merchant" and they will take the shop's word over the consumer. Then IF you manage to get a lawyer to draft a letter to get the charges reversed, they will NOT apologize for anything. And this all happened to two 7+ year customers. Imagine what happens to customers with less of a track record! I would HOPE they have improved their service in the last couple of years!
EDIT2: Hopefully all those stories about Citibank rewards being "miscalculated" and the trouble it takes to get them to correct it isn't representative of the company. It sounds like a pain to have to write/call the company several times a month just to get the right purchases to count 5% instead of 1%. (If you don't believe me, just read the reviews on the Citi Dividend Card.)
EDIT3: The worst things that I've ever experienced from Chase was getting some not-too-knowledgeable CSR's (happens to every CC company), having to wait for a credit limit increase (over $10,000, so that's probably why), and them limiting the rebate-qualified gas purchases to $500/mo on the Freedom Platinum (not too happy, but I rarely spend over $500/mo on gas, and it was bound to happen if they were losing money on the program). I've never had ANYONE from Chase accuse me of defrauding them or insisting that my mom's name is "James Brown", even when cards are fraudulently used!

Just talked with chase CSR. They said it's actually a Bankone/FirstUSA card product. Since chase hasn't finished merging with bank one yet, they can not do the switch from current chase card to that one, which I am asking for. They probably can do so in couple of months. But I am wondering why First USA hasn't such a card before the merging. Any inputs?

I got an offer of 15 mths on chase for BT & Purchases 0%, visa platinum and then fixed 7.99%, but nothing about Cash Back or rewards.
I recently was approved for jp morgan chase heloc and closed this week.
Gosh, these offers are crazy. Today an offer also came for citi diamond preferred card with 0% BT & Pur until 6/06 and then 8.49%--kicker here is it's 8.49% and has 20 day grace and avg daily balance on purchases. Seems like one of best offers I've seen--especially if I pay it in full every month. They do not issue many like this one anymore execept for AMEX etc.
I already have the citi dividend card with the 5%--1% cash up to $300. I do not have a chase card at present. What would you do?? take another citi??
got the card today CL - measly 3500 0% APR till Oct 2006 - yay! Cash Back - $300/per year
no tier - 5% everyday, 1% everywhere

Just convert my old Chase plat. MasterCard to this Cash Plus Rewards card, the CSR said I may not get a new card, but I can use this card and get the cash rewards. Can check rewards on the statement
rewards is 5%/1% and 300 annual cap, expired after 36 months.
sweet, I will report back when I get more info in mail.
After seeing CornHusker's sucess, I called and a first level CSR was able to do the following:
-Convert my Cashbuilder Platium MC to Cash Plus Visa ; -Convert my BankOne Free Cash Rewards MC to Cash Plus Visa ; -Confirm that the cards would show original opening date rather than be opened and closed (though accounts numbers would change since Visa and MC #s are different) ; -Add spouse as AU on both accounts -Reallocate $8,000 from one of these cards to the other ; -Confirm that I could re-convert later to other cards which they may be introducing after the merger.
It took here awhile to figure out that she could do the conversions, but after I persisted, she checked another screen and confirmed this could be done after all.

Just wanted to know what phone number you called to convert the Chase Cash Builder card to the Chase cash rewards plus card. When I called Chase they said it cannot be converted.

Congrats on the success. I may try to convert my former Profit/now Ultimate card to a universal. Did they have to pull a hard copy of your credit report for these requests?

Not sure if you're talking to me or someone else, but I simply called the customer service number on the back of my Chase card.
Again, she didn't think she could do it at first, so it might take a couple of tries to find someone who can handle pulling it off.

When converting to another card, do they ask questions like "What is your current income?", etc.?

Is this any better than the Chase Freedom Card? I know that it only offers 3% on gas compared to 5%, but the Cash Back is automatically figured into your remaining balance. And also, I don't believe there is a $300 cap? I could be wrong on the cap for the Freedom card. Not sure.

I know for the citbank dividend card, you have to wait until you reach 50 dollars before the send you a check. Is this card the same? thanks

I had the same question in the last page of this thread. There was a user who said the terms and conditions of the card stated redemption at $50, but another independant review of the card said redemption started at $25. I'd be inclined to agree with the $50 level, but awaiting confirmation. Anyone know the answer to this?

Applied for this yesterday, 2 different CSRs confirmed redemption starts at $50.

I firmly believe in "a bird in your hand is always better than 2 in the bushes". Therefore, I pick Freedom card. If Chase decides to #%%%#% its rebate program, I already minimize my lost.

Chase Platinum MC has CSS which allows LPG. Does this new Cash Plus Visa have CSS?

I really envy some of you folks here who are able to go above and beyond that amount For me though, I wonder if I can even charge $10,000...gotta work hard so to charging $30,000 will be no problem To get $300 cash rebate you only need to spend $6000 at Gas/Supermarkets/Pharmacy earning 5% Cash Back.
