Has anyone applied yet not heard anything back on approval due to the merger finalization? It seems Chase is delayed this week.

I applied on July 10th and haven't heard anything concrete. You can call the number listed in the OP and select option 2 to get a status update. My status says they are processing and I will get a response in the mail within 30 days.

Check this out everyone, I just found this out from a credit card review.
With this credit card, there is a 60,000 point yearly limit. When you reach 2,500 points, you can redeem your points for a $25 check from Chase. For 5,000 points, it is a $50 check. Of course, you earn 5 points for purchases at gas stations, grocery stores, and drug stores, and 1 point everywhere else. But remember I said there was a 60,000 point limit? This is important, because it means that a card user can earn as much as $600 in Cash Back yearly. I am a Citi Dividend Platinum Select cardholder, and while this card has been great, a $600 yearly limit is better than my current yearly limit on the Citi Dividend Platinum Select of $300.

Has anyone had success with converting an Ultimate Cash Award to the Cash Plus Rewards Visa? The CSR I spoke to today said she couldn't trade it for me.

They likely won't 'trade' a mastercard for a visa.

Called Chase and attempted to confirm a flat 5%/1% rebate structure. They read the same vague words as on the application link and could not confirm any specific rebate terms in print for me. They suggested the card is so new and the website is under some transitions so to wait for a couple weeks. I will let the forum know if I find printed terms for the rebates as this would be a nice upgrade from my Chase Free Cash Rewards flat 1%.

I called after 10pm, wanting to know if it's possible to upgrade my 1% CashBack firstusa/bankone cash rewards card. Probably got routed overseas. There's no phone menu. It went to a live person directly. The rep said I had to cancel and then apply. Told him what I read here, then he told me to call 800-984-3642 for more information.

Does anyone know if Sony Visa Card can be converted to the Chase/Bank One Platinum Visa (the 5% Gas/Drug/Supermarket, 1% everything else) card? Thanks.

Thanks, I also tried this a couple of days back and the CSR told me the same thing and she didn't sound foreign. I thought I had gotten an unknowledgeable CSR or that I had to wait until 7/25.

If it is possible to convert it would be great, it would be greater if I could transfer my current points.

I just called again to the number in the back of the credit card:800-436-7927 and the CSR said it was possible to convert my formerly Bank one rewards card to the Chase cash plus reward card but that I needed to cash my points first as they would not transfer over

I just called regarding changing the perfectcard to a cash plus card and was told that they are treating cash plus rewards as a rewards marketing program more than a type of account. Rewards supposedly won't transfer between the programs but that's not a problem with the PerfectCard if you don't have much racked up in rewards this month. To switch you have to call in and have them first drop the rewards program currently attached to the account (IE -- The PerfectCard 3% program) and then attach the new Cash Plus rewards program. According to the rep I talked to it takes about three days for the request for the PerfectCard program to be dropped to take effect. The nice thing about this is that there shouldn't be a need to reapply for the card, and both the original card number, account length, and card should be usable following the switch. The card design will change when the next card is sent out however.

Also, it appears that the merger isn't quite final yet. All of Chase's cardholders are being transitioned to BankOne's software/servers. The current date for everything to be finished is July 31st.

I called today, the CSR can do it for my FirstUSA visa (my first card, 5-year old) but will need to change account/card number. I asked whether it will show up in Credit Report as a new credit account opened and the old account as closed. She had no idea about that. So I didn't proceed.
Any one with experience of converting card can share how it will show up in Credit Repot?
Thanks!

None of these CSRs will ever be able to answer it because, like one of the times I asked them, they aren't "credit specialists." I wonder the same thing about lost/stolen accounts so I would assume it should be safe, but who knows...

I converted a card in 1999, when it was under First USA. The conversion changed my account number. The old card number still appears on my credit reports as closed by consumer. The second card number is listed as well, with the same open date as the closed account. By the way, after I converted, MBNA just replaced my old account number with the new one on my credit reports.

To add to Professor's post, I just called a CSR for redeeming my Rewards points and asked her about converting & merging cards and she also said, the account would be "Closed by consumer" so I guess we wouldn't get hit if the new account shows all the past history of payments with the old account's opening date.

Does Chase consider Super WalMart as a grocery store? Citibank used to consider them as a grocery store until they found out how much money they were losing.

I doubt it. I'm pretty sure it's restricted to stand alone grocery stores.

when i called, the guy told me this is a tiered rewards program. after you spend 6000, you get 3% plus and additional 2% if you carry a balance to make it 5% Cash Back on those 3 types of purchases

I think either the guy or you may have this card confused with the Chase Ultimate cash reward card which outlines that exact tier structure.

It's my understanding that the Cash rewards plus card does not have tiers. However I have not yet received my card and terms to confirm in writing.
