phlylilazn said:when i called, the guy told me this is a tiered rewards program. after you spend 6000, you get 3% plus and additional 2% if you carry a balance to make it 5% Cash Back on those 3 types of purchases

I just received my card with the terms and conditions. Here goes...

Points based system (no mention of tiers anywhere):

5 points for every net $1 spent at merchants that classify themselves as gas station, grocery store, or drugtstore.

1 point for every net $1 spent elsewhere.

Points can be redeemed starting at 5000 points. You can choose either a $50 check or $50 gift certificate to a variety of establishments.

30,000 point maximum per calender year.

Points expire 36 months after they were earned, points are redeemed on a first in first out basis via the choosemyrewards.com website or by calling customer service.

Hope they actually keep this Chase program around for a while.

I did the same (asking the rep to convert my Chase Plat. MC to this Cash Plus Rewards card). The CSR told me cash plus rewards is more of a rewards program and enrolled my MasterCard in. No card conversion is needed.

CornHusker said:Just convert my old Chase plat. MasterCard to this Cash Plus Rewards card, the CSR said I may not get a new card, but I can use this card and get the cash rewards. Can check rewards on the statement

rewards is 5%/1% and 300 annual cap, expired after 36 months.

sweet, I will report back when I get more info in mail.

I did not ask about $50 bonus or 0apr, I don't care

Actually, I think it will be considered as a grocery store for as long as you purchase the item from Super WalMart, Super Target, etc. This is how it's still working on my Citi card.

By the way, I just applied the Chase Cash Plus Reward Visa card tonight. The sales rep is definitely an American, as she had to read the whole terms and agreement disclosure to me. She confirmed that this card pays a full 5% on qualified grocery, gas, Drugstore purchases and a full 1% on everything else subject to $300/yearly, as Mdee stated on the top. I did mention the promotion code and am eligible for $50 after the first purchase. I will be notified in 30 days for approval b/c they have to run a credit report on applicant.

How long ago that you checked the reward calculation on your citi card? Mine stopped giving the 5% reward to Super WalMart a couple months ago. This has been confirmed by many FWers in different threads. I doubt that Citi would do anything different for you in their computer.

Comparing this card to the Citibank Dividend Platinum Select card, they both seem fairly similar.
5% Cash Back on gas/Drugstore/groceries, 1% back on everything else, $300 annual rewards limit, redeem awards beginning at $50, no annual fee

EDIT: According to bp1169 the points earned with this card expire after 36 months. Is this 36 months of non-use, or a definite expiry date? This seems to be the only difference (and major drawback) of this card compared to the Citi card. I looked through the terms and couldn't find any mention of dividend dollars expiring at any time. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

But I suppose we can also compare the signup bonuses - $50 for this card, or $10 for the Citicard through cardoffers.com. Still, the point expiration seems like a pretty big drawback.

I received the T&C's and wrote about it in a post above.

As a matter of fact, my last statement (June 15 to July 15) still shows that purchases from Super WalMart and Super Target earn 5%. I'm able to confirm these rebate amount by reconciling them on Excel. I'm not kidding!

Is 36 month expiration really a problem? I know I can cash out $50 increments quite quickly getting 5% from gas and groceries and would never have points older than 12 months.

After two phone reps (see my July 11 post) said I couldn't change my rewards program from the Free Cash rewards program to the Cash Plus rewards program, I sent the request via Chase's online messaging system:

July 15 - A rep replied, "This account is not eligible to trade to the Cash Plus account at this time."

July 27 - I replied, "Please tell me why my account is not eligible to trade to the Cash Plus rewards program."

August 02 - A different rep replied, "We apologize for the previous email that was sent to you. Your account is eligible to add the Cash Plus rewards program to it. Please be advised that you would forfeit your current rewards program on the account." I hadn't accumulated any Free Cash rewards so I asked her to switch my rewards program.

August 03 - She replied, "Please be advised we have changed your rewards program to the Chase Cash Plus rewards program. The previous rewards you were earning have been forfeited. You may continue using this credit card and all your purchases will apply towards the new program. Information outlining Cash Plus have been sent to the address on file."

Probably not, I just wanted to make people aware as a difference between this card and the Citibank card.

bozo007 as well as bp1169 have both confirmed that the reward redemption starts at $50. See this thread

BTW, I applied for this card yesterday - will update when I receive it (hopefully)

I'll be surprised if they don't make you actually call to convert.

I got my Cash Plus Rewards card, no tiers. I also combined the majority of my Profitcard credit line into this new one.

I figured it's worth a shot, based on ProfessorB's post. ProfessorB called and they wouldn't do it, but finally got somewhere using online messaging.

Is this phone number and offer legit? It's not some sort of scam is it?

darkhaven said:I just called regarding changing the perfectcard to a cash plus card and was told that they are treating cash plus rewards as a rewards marketing program more than a type of account. Rewards supposedly won't transfer between the programs but that's not a problem with the PerfectCard if you don't have much racked up in rewards this month. To switch you have to call in and have them first drop the rewards program currently attached to the account (IE -- The PerfectCard 3% program) and then attach the new Cash Plus rewards program. According to the rep I talked to it takes about three days for the request for the PerfectCard program to be dropped to take effect. The nice thing about this is that there shouldn't be a need to reapply for the card, and both the original card number, account length, and card should be usable following the switch. The card design will change when the next card is sent out however.

I called and tried to convert my perfectcard and was told by 3 csr's it was not possible to do anything unless I had a credit limit of $5000. I threatened to cancel my perfectcard and they gave me $10 credit on my next statement. I guess there is some justice in this world.

Same deal, same phone number, but offer code Q5S is good until 9/30/2005. This code is from an ad in a CA newspaper. Just in case someone procrastinates too long.

Thanks guys, I was planning to get this card anyway, I now I've got an extra $50. The Citibank card similar to this is offering $50 at cardoffers.com so I am going there to sign up also. Again, thanks.

Ok, the email reply from Chase said I needed to call in order to change my rewards program to Cash Plus.

I did that last night and was on the phone with a rep for maybe 45 sec total to make the change.

I have the Flexible Rewards Visa Signature. Confirmed the card will stay the same, as well as all other terms. Since my rewards program is no longer "Flexible Rewards", I guess a more appropriate title for my card would now be "Cash Plus Visa Signature".
