Thanks, JayK, and I guess I still find "newest first" the best use of my time. -Zer

More than 10 years ago, I read a WSJ article about how a guy in jail would sue companies in small claims court claiming investment losses on their stock. The companies would sometimes pay him off instead of going to small claims court.

I would like to see a thread about how to take a company into small claims court and make some money.

I'd like to see a "So, you're going off to college are you?" thread.
A complete guide for anyone entering college for the first (or second or third, etc.) time. Updated weekly on everything from finance (Pell Grants, Student Loans, credit cards, banking, etc.), study skills, how to find the best deals, housing (apartments, dorms, townhomes, etc.), dating (three letters go here tips & advice, and other useful info.

If a parent is spending $50,000+/yr to send their kid to college, there should be a good resource for atleast one of them. One of the worst sites IMHO, filled with marketing and mostly useless crap, is CollegeClub.

i tried starting a thread on accounts from which one can initiate ach in/out. i found the info scattered across other threads and tried to consolidate some info. if there are any updates, let me know.

i'd like to see a thread that helps those new in the workforce consider 401(k) options.

I am wondering if there is/would be a thread listing the stores that qualify as grocery store with extra Cash Back or reward points for such credit cards as Citi Divident Platinum, Chase Cash Plus Reward, AMEX Cash etc.

Somthing like this:
Bank Name/ Issuer Credit cards (% reward in dallar value)
List of stores

Would someone start this thread?

Theres a thread about it on ibankdesign forum.
FIs with free on-demand ACH transfers for personal accounts

If you have any updates you can ask Markber and he'll be happy to update the thread.

I second that. It will be a real help to those who are students now or those who have kids in college.

Free* Electrical Engineering Graduate School at Texas Tech University. I got paid living expenses and tuition (without having to teach classes) at Texas Tech for Electrical Engineering.

PM me if interested. You should probably have a background in EE or some other scientific discipline. If you're a female they are especially interested.

*Free if you are willing to deal with Lubbock, Texas. In other words, what it costs you is not monetary, but almost spiritual.

I would like a how to invest in stock market thread. Something showing the progressive steps. Roth IRA, IRA, Investing accounts and trading accounts. I am trying to compile information on how to begin investing in the stock market, but I have recieved mixed advice. I love the threads about trading services, but I need help allocating money in the before mentioned tax shelters and then differentiating between long term retirement and profit making "gambling type accounts.

I'd like to see a separate thread for retailer charge card offers. 99% of the posts in the cc threads seem to relate to major cards like Visa and Mastercard. But I keep running across retailer offers that are admittedly small, but could add up. Example, apply for an Amazon card and get $30 off first purchase. Buy.com has a similar thing, $25-$30. Someone here mentioned Sunoco and Marathon gas cards, and Best Buy. I'd include reward programs as well as sign-on gifts, such as earning a credit on your next bill. It would be nice to have all those bits and pieces in one thread. Or, since gas prices are such an issue, even a separate one just for gas cards.

In addition to making these deals easier to find, in a separate thread where people know the amounts are small, there's less chance of people being flamed for posting such an offer. I know after I posted the Lukoil gas card offer and someone said it wasn't that great, I've been reluctant to post other small deals I've seen. The thing is, even if a specific offer doesn't seem that great to one persion, it might be ok for someone else. For example, the Marathon deal might be better than Lukoil's, but since there aren't any Marathon stations near me it doesn't do me any good. It would be nice to be able to compare all the retailer offers, good and bad, so people can make the best choice.

I'd love to see a thread "Hot deals" -> "Location" discussing local deals (by State/ Major cities). Many times I have posted local deals (Atlanta, GA) and some, not being from GA, rate the deal negatively due to their inability to profit from the deal, or even mark it dead...I'm sure HotDeals forum has some space for improvement and most FWers have more info on local events/deals/hot markdowns from the local store...and are willing to share, but posting in the HotDeals forum is somehow disorganized and the valuable local info doesn't get to whom it should.

This thread has been sticky for a while. Have there been any major results coming out of it? There seems to be only requests and few promised knowledge threads. Is it time to unstick this?

alert mods

I agree that there have not been as many folks offering their own "legwork" here as I'd hoped for so far.

Moreover, despite many interesting suggestions, those posting requests are generally not bothering to follow the instructions of the OP and edit the quicklink post.

Perhaps there is a chicken-and-the-egg problem as well. Once folks take the time to put together answers to questions, then other folks will be more likely to ask and answer questions. But so far, there hasn't been nearly enough to make for a critical mass.

I think the thread is somewhat useful even as it is, since it can be helpful to hear what FW members are interested in reading about. Perhaps too there have been somewhat fewer requests for legwork-type threads thrown out in their own new threads (at the very least, those requests can be directed here). But, the thread certainly hasn't done what it could do so far.

I'm very open to suggestions on edits to the OP, etc. to make this thread more useful, so that it can attain critical mass.

Ill be happy to tackle some credit/mortgage/lending topics if readers post them in the "quick Summary" as instructed by the OP

alert mods

Thanks didYOUsearch.

Hear that, question askers? Let's get the quick summary edited please!

alert mods

I'd like to see a summary frequency hard free of CLI from the different major banks. For example, for some you must wait 9months from opening account then every 6 months after that. What is the maxium hard free level you can reach? etc.

I've heard AMEX has button for CLI that works once a month? but after 20K you may get a finaical review. Discover has no CLI button in its web page, but you can call every 6 months, no hard free CLI above 15K.
Capital One, you cannot even request a CLI with a hard inquiry the computer determines you if/when you get a CLI.

Also which banks allow reallocating CL and/or 2 into 1 merges.

I'd be willing to keep the OP updated if poeople could post the data from the various banks.

I'm also willing to keep a "Current CC signup deals" page updated. Do I make an OP and link on the Quick Summary or do I need to be approved?

I haven't been on FW very long, but I've been reading creditboards fourm for while.

Some of these threads already exist. Add your data points within the Quick Summaries below the OP

The CLI thread.

Combining/Merging / Reallocation of CL

alert mods

not directly the same as the previous post, but many CC issuers allow you to switch a non rewards card to a rewards card, with no new inquiry plus all the usual goodies that you get with a new account. probably doesn't warant its own thread, but if for example, you have a bank of america keychain card, you can switch it to another bofa card that does offer points, etc.

just choose a good format for displaying the info, then start the thread and keep it updated.
The ratings will show weather the page is "approved" or not
as long the info in the OP is constantly updated it will be useful.
