I know that billpay funtion is limited for this schwab card that you cannot pay other CC's bill if this is your only MBNA card. Unfortunately, I only have this MBNA card. I wonder if anyone has successfully converted this card to other MBNA card after getting the gift card. Someone said that it was unable to convert this card, so I just need some confirmation about this issue
Try to convert if possible ? Call a few times if they say impossible. You can definitely apply for a different MBNA CC and then move the Schwab CL over to it, and then close the Schwab.

I called and asked MBNA to add billpay option for my schwab card. Got "NO" answer. Probably, if many of us call and ask, they may change their policy.

Actually, I've been successful. I have my new card in hand so I know MBNA will allow this change.
I was able to convert my MBNA Schwab-branded Preferred Platinum Visa into an MBNA Stockback-branded Preferred Platinum Visa. The CSR originally gave me some BS about not being able to convert the Schwab card but after pointing out that both Citibank and AMEX allow for a conversion, she finally relented and gave me the following phone number to call.
Once I got the phone number to call, the conversion was quick and painless. All the CSR needed was a) the affiliate PRIORITY CODE (HV67 for Stockback) which he found himself by going to the brand-affiliate's application page on the internet and b) (in the case of Stockback) my Stockback MemberID number. The CSR was able to pull off everything else he needed from my existing account.
The MBNA Product Change Unit may be reached @ 866-865-7841 from 8-5PM EST.

thanks.
See the bolded text above.
The old card is listed online as being 'closed' and the new card has the same credit line. BTW, the conversion took <10 days from call to new card receipt.

hmmm, MBNA allows me to use Billpay with my Schwab Visa (I had the eBay card before, but transferred my cl to the schwab - maybe that is why...).

Yes, but the new card DOES NOT have the opening date that the old card had. It reports as opened on the date you converted.

The phone number above works fine for my AAA cc as well. The conversation took less than 5 minutes.

Charles Schwab card has no Bill-pay feature and only 1% Cash Back. Any better MBNA card out there that is worth to CHANGE it to?
TIA.

You could try to change it to a Merrill+ card which features tiered spending benefits. I don't know if they allow you to convert your points into cash at the $25 level like Schwab does, though. Does anyone here know?

TIA. I'm a fan of the Stockback.com CC. It's a tiered CashBack card but instead of calculating marginal tiers, your CashBack % varies monthly based on how much you charged in total that month -- up to 2%. Everytime you earn >$25 in CashBack, it gets transferred to stockback.com. Stockback.com will then based on your choice either cut you a check or invest it in the stock of your choice... or something like that.
To illustrate: Instead of paying .5% on the first $1500 in charges, 1% on the next 1.5K, 1.5% on the next 2K, and 2% on the final 1K of eligible charges, Stockback gives you a flat percentage for depending on how MUCH you spend per billing period.
The only downside I can see is that I hear it takes a couple of months for MBNA to pay Stockback and for Stockback to mail you a check.

Schwab card can have Billpay feature if you have other MBNA cards that offer Billpay. Both my Schwab and Merrill cards have Billpay because my Plat. Plus card has it.

I just attempted to do this (using the number that FWgunn provided) and was told by the (very polite) credit analyst that due to contractual obligations with Schwab, MBNA could no longer convert Schwab cards to other affinity cards.
I just combined my dormant Schwab card with another MBNA card to bump up my CL using the 866-865-7841 number. Very easy--call took less than 2 minutes.
