This is the best United Mileage Plus card offer I've seen so far. The others I've applied
to in the last year or so - via links found at Fatwallet & Flyertalk were for 15k.

Visa Signature Card, with 20k bonus miles: link

The first year's annual fee is waived. After which, the best strategy is probably to
change the card to a different Chase product, with no fee.

Remember that you can apply for a new United card (and get miles!) every 90 days. Thus, if your credit
score can deal with it, thats 4 cards per year = 80k miles = one free economy ticket to europe + one
free domestic economy ticket.

Other United CC deals worth mentioning:

They will often give you 5k miles for upgrading you to gold, and pro-rate the fee (which would normally be $20),
depending on how much longer till your card renewal date is. Thus, if you upgrade to gold a month or
two before the annual fee kicks in, you could get yourself 5k miles for less than 5 dollars. Just ask about the offer
on the phone.. be persistant.

I recently did a 20k balance transfer (0% for 6 months), fee-waived (after asking retention), and got 1 mile
per every 2 dollars (with a 10k mile cap).

Also, if you're in College, don't forget about United College Plus. 10k
miles for each degree you get.

"The 20,000 bonus Choices or miles, One-way, 1,000 mile, One-class Upgrade Certificate, and United Discount Travel Certificate are only available to first time United Mileage Plus cardmembers."

21000 now (go to united.com)

very tempting, thanks OP!

Earlier this year, I cancelled before the end of the first year free period. Within six weeks of my cancellation, they sent me another email invitation for a new card with 15k miles and another fee free year.

I'm in. Hopefully I get it, got 2 different cards earlier this month. 20,000 miles is an awesome deal, pretty much a free round trip (25,000 needed for a saver RT).

And no annual fee to boot!

Green from me.

Heh, what about green for me for transferring this post over to the Finance forum instead of the Travel forum? But nooooo, that's too much to ask - instead I get red!

I appreciate that, my friend! Yes, there is a long-time Travel forum here (you have to click on forums to see the complete list of all forums).

I recently applied for a similar card - there was a "fine print" note saying that if you cancel the card within six months they reserve the right to remove the miles (or somehting similar). I dont have the paper anymore to quote the exact language.
Definately a great deal.

I tend to disagree. I signed up for two united credit cards within the same month (two months ago) and both were eligible for the extra miles. Additionally, if you upgrade to the Gold visa straight away, you can get the 2,500 bonus anniversary miles for the first year as well. Total 27,500 bonus miles.

signed up. Basically a free ticket. They gave me a "response within 30 days" answer though. Anyone getting approved on the spot?

Check this out united is giving 2X points out school tuition:

Parents shelling out dollars to their kid's school can rack up some serious miles this fall. The "United Mileage Plus VISA" is offering two miles for every dollar spent that exceeds $1,000 and is paid directly to schools through the end of this year. This includes tuition for colleges and universities, as well as public and private elementary and secondary schools, school bookstore purchases, season football tickets, school donations and more. For example, parents of college students can earn 25,000 United miles for $12,500 in purchases, enough for a free round trip domestic ticket. The "United Mileage Plus VISA," issued by Chase, is also offering extra bonus miles though September 30th for back-to-school purchases from Office Max, Banana Republic/Gap/Old Navy, IKEA and Borders. I got the same note... anyone get instant approval?

Same here. 30 Days. I don't think they do instant approval.

Thanks OP.

I just got one approved a month ago for 25k. I've received several offers for 20k since. How long do I need to wait to apply for a second or third card? Do I have to cancel the 1st card? Thanks.
