I just applied for my 3rd today Hopefully I'll get more offers in the mail, but they seem to have dried up ...

I need to know fi the SECOND 20k miles were posted to the same account as your first. So after signing up with United the first time u get 20k miles posted after first purchase. Now, after this you signed up for the second with same name but I'm guessing different credit card number.

Does your online account show both cards and 40k miles alltogether + whatever milesage you accrue when you spend money?

Or do you have 2 seperate online accounts with 20k in each?

Thanks for the clarification.

The first 2 credit cards, and the 3rd CC application, are all tied to the same United MP account. So when I refer to a bonus 'posting to my account', I am referring to the miles showing up in my United MP account. Each credit card has a different credit card number.

Thanks not larry

My goal is to get 90k miles by hoepfully April or so to book a savers Businses class ticket to North/South Asia (Beijing or Hong Kong), so I guess I will wait 1 month and apply for a new card each time until I do get it then start cancelling my credit cards 6 months after the first and see how I can get away with that.

If your credit is taht great (and my CL is $25000) + AMEX gold....does it really hurt that much.

I mean, I am 21 and I hav emy life ahead of so to say adn graduating this year, I dont want to be disqualified form taking out any mortgages or anything. What do you think

Don't worry, apply several credit cards won't hurt you much. Your credit score will come back after 7 months.

Go and enjoy your life while you can

I wouldn't cancel all the cards.. There has been quite a bit posted here before in other threads to show that cancelling cards can hurt your credit score.

Once you've taken the hit of opening the cards, leave them open.. Just switch them to a no-fee card after 6 months (otherwise, potentially, United could take the miles back), and you'll be fine.

I belive the change is based on utilization (when you close an account, your utilization % goes up). So instead of just closing, fold the credit line into antoher card from the same provider. That way your total available credit stays the same. Since these are *new* accounts, we don't need them around on the report for credit history (length) purposes.

That ^ is what I plan on doing.

Is this deal still alive?

Yes, I just signed up last night.

The card I got is not the Visa Signature card on the website. It has different graphics (grey, blue, and purple ) and is actually a Visa Platinum. I didn't see the same benefits listed in the benefits guide either, such as up to $3000 lost luggage insurance, $1,000,000 travel accident insurance (now only $500,000), or the $300 trip delay insurance. What gives? Might have something to do with the buyout of BankOne by Chase.

Still 1 mile per dollar spent and free for the first year, $60/yr thereafter. The 20k bonus miles better post.

My 20k just posted recently after the 1st statement closed. Got the card around 11/15 about 10 days after I applied online. My card's silver like the picture.

My card has benefits similar to the Gold card seen here, except it claims 1 mile per dollar spent.

Can they issue me a card I didn't sign up for? Seems like a bait and switch to me. I want the Visa Signature benefits.

Found this in the terms and conditions:

We will review your credit history and income to determine if you qualify for one of two accounts, each with different benefits and credit availability. First we will review your credit history and income to determine if you qualify for a Signature card. If you do not, you will be considered for a Platinum card without the no pre-set spending limit feature. If you qualify for the Platinum card, we will also review your credit history and income to determine your credit line. Based on this review, you may receive a card with a credit line as low as $500.

I got the Signature version back in September. In a little over a week, I'm going to apply for at least 3 new cards (this one AGAIN, Skymiles biz, and AAdvantage biz), all with 20k bonuses. My logic is that, from what I've taken from the apporamas, doing them all at once makes it less likely that the other multiple apps will be counted for one another's approval. I'm pretty sure though that Chase is slower at pulling than the others and I seem to recall that Chase apps are usually the most denied during ramas. So I'm probably going to apply for this card (United #2 for me and will be my 4th Chase card) a full business day before the other two, which offer much faster approval times. Anyone think this is a bad strategy?

Can you cancel the card after you get the miles since the first year fee is waived?

Thanks.

You can cancel anytime you want, but they can remove the miles, from earlier in the thread "If your account is not open for at least 6 months, United and Chase reserve the right to deduct the bonus miles from your Mileage Plus Program account."

During the activation I was offered 1000 bonus miles if I try the credit protector program, and I if cancel, I will still get 1K miles.
