Citi currently has 2 offers on their web page (no special link required) for their Citi Premier Pass Elite cards. 1 for personal 1 for business.
15,000 pts after 1st purchase on each card.
No annual fee 1st year, for business card. $75 annual fee for personal card. 0% BT for 12 months, from day you do it. You have until 1/1/2007 to do the BT. This is especially useful as you can do the BT now, or much much later and get your 12 months.
Since the fee is waived on the business card, you don't have to worry about it.
You can avoid having to pay the fee on the personal card by getting your 15k bonus pts within 45 days, and converting the card to any non-annual fee Citi card has, and they will refund it to you. You will keep the 0% BT offer even when you convert.
Also, since the premier pass cards have annual fees, they are generally a lot easier to qualify for, and also get higher then usual starting CL.
Haggi, instead of giving me a neg you could have actually mentioned that the link didn't work initially? Wouldn't that have been more helpful?

Storme said: You will keep the 0% BT offer even when you convert. This part seems like a ymmv, at best.
But the offer sounds really attractive, if there are no additional fees attached to the BT. It might make me consolidate my citi cards, and jump back into the BT game again
Particularly now that citi offers automatic payment scheduling, the entire deal can be set up in a few minutes and left on auto-pilot until completion.
Thanks Storme. Nice find !
Addendum: No BT fees if performed as part of the offer (within 12 months of account opening; not sure about multiple BT's)

Hello,
Are you sure about the part :
<You will keep the 0% BT offer even when you convert. >. Also if you convert within 45 days, they refund the annual fee ?.
As mentioned in another thread concerning the premier cards, in case you actually intend to use it (and not only applying for the $150 gift card), in order to redeem flight points you have to use at least an equal amount of purchase points. So do not make plans on earning tens of thousands of points through flights if you do not intend to buy other goods of equal value with it...
PS: I am not sure about the higher CL you can get applying for the elite, I got only $2000 a few weeks ago... Also some people may be lucky to receive an mail offer for the premier (not elite) and with 15,000 points after the first purchase, which beats the hassles of applying for the elite, redeeming the points and changing back.

I didn't see it on the cite. Can you post the link? Thanks

hehe, the first time I saw it is when i received the card, so I make sure now other people notice it beforehand...

Thanks, OP. This is perfect for stretching my business line of credit. Will consolidate with my other Citi Business card after I get my GC...

If it's all right, I'd like to run my understanding of this deal past you guys and make sure that I've got it right: 1. apply for above mentioned card through above listed link (thanks tons!) 2. Use card immediately 3. Cash in 15000 points for 150 dollar GC 4. Cancel card to get 75.00 membership fee returned (is htere any doubt as to whether this step will work?)
I do have a question, what is required to qualify for the Business version of this card?

I'm interested in the business qualifications too.

On the application a Tax ID for the business is required. So, has to be a legal business. If business has no credit history, Citi will go by your credit history for a decision. They will check both credit reports regardless.

So, how sure are we about being able to get the fee waived when we transfer it to another citi card?
"15,000 bonus points after your first purchase is made within 60 days of account opening"
I'm interpreting that as the pts might not be there until 60 days. Has anyone done this particular card and how fast did you get the pts? I might be game to try $75 fee and all if I thought the pts would be there pretty quickly. Just got the Diamond Preferred Rewards card and that was pretty fast to get the pts.
Thanks.

Interesting. I interpreted that as saying that if you wait longer than 60 days to use the card you won't get your 15000 points.
I'd LOVE to do this. DH would think he'd died and gone to Heaven if I got him 150 dollar red lobster card. OTOH, he might think he'd died and gone to the other place if I get a credit card with a 75.00 annual fee and they won't waive it.
That did cross my mind as well, but since the worse would be not getting the points I had to consider the worse case scenario.
Ok, well how would DH think about this. Basically, if you can't get that $75 fee waived, you would be getting $150 card for $75. You would be doubling your money. Would that be worth it? Of course, not if you didn't have $75 to spend in the first place. Just something to consider.

I guess that's a good point. DH WOULD totally think it was worth it. It'd be like being able to buy Red Lobster GCs at half price. I guess I'M the money nazi in the family, so now I just have to ask myself if I would think it was worth it. Hmmm.

I called them and asked about a sole proprietership business, for which no tax ID is required. They said in that case you can simply use your SS number, and then your personal credit record will be checked to determine whether the card is issued.
I have no idea if they are correct, or if it will work, but I tried it this way and we'll see what happens.
I had used my SS for the AmexBlue before and that was accepted.

I'm reluctant to do the bizcard deal, largely because there aren't many great biz rewards cards from Citi to convert to. I don't know if a first-year-free promo will ever come along for the personal, but at least I'd be able to convert it to, say, Professional. Not worth risking the $75 when one can get $100+ free elsewhere w/o investment.

Why not just cancel the card?

Say for instance you have a Citibank e-Savings account. Could you get one of these credit cards and somehow balance transfer the money as a deposit into your e-Savings account? Also, even though it is 0% on the BT are there flat fees associated with it?

HAS ANY ONE DONE THAT?I think the ticket has to be cost a minimum of $349(?) during non-peak season, and $379 for peak season. And you have to order the ticket through Spirit Vacations, which tacks on several fees/taxes as well. At least, that's what I've read on flyertalk.
Oddly enough yesterday my wife received an offer to upgrade her Citibank Dividend Select Visa to a Citibank PremierPass (not Elite) and get 15,000 bonus points... so we signed up quick. No annual fee. Now we will have both the PremierPass and the PremierPass Elite and got 30,000 bonus points. We are keeping both, even though the elite has a $75 annually fee because of the 1 to 1 flight miles.

They told me on the phone that the 75$ is nonrefundable even within the first 45 days. I've got my 15k points, but it takes 2-3 billing cycles to be active on the Thankyou Site.
It turns out, they will not within the first 45 days, I spoke with a new CSR who was very friendly, named Ben. The 0% BT stays as well.

That is an extremely sweet offer. I guess I'll have to cross my fingers crossed for it. Then again, I'd have to find a way to cash out the $38 I have in rebate before I convert.

I got the same offer today for upgrading from dividend to permier pass. Oddly the offer letter says 15K bonus points but he accompanying brochure says 10K. Also it says some where my accrued dividend dollars will be lost once I upgrade - I have about $30 in there and cannot request a check until it goes over $50.
Were you able to get the dividend dollar?

Yeah, I noticed that too that the letter said 15,000 and the insert said 10,000. I PDF'd the letter so that I can be ready to e-mail it to any Citibank employee who wants to question if it should be 15k or 10k. We haven't used the old card in over a year and had already cashed out a check for all the dividend dollars, so I don't have an answer for you on the check, but remember... $150 > $30

Applied mid September, approved one week later with CL of 18K. After I transfer my other citi CL's to this card, I should have about 50K for a 12 month BT. I am only going to use 49% of the CL, but this is working out to be about a $1000 pre-tax gift for about 30 minutes of my time (fw postings not included).
However, the actual signup bonus you get for each of these varies with the offer that you signup with. So be on the look out for the variious FW threads that post some great offers for the above cards.

Are you kidding me?
You might want to actually read before you post something like this.
There is a Citi PremierPass Elite (personal) and there is a CitiBusiness PremierPass as well.
