i never ordered from page computers before and a charge of 26.99 showed up from them today on my AMEX.

I just checked my account online at AMEX.I have a AMEX/Costco card. I've been hit for $8.99 yesterday on 9/20. I'm on hold with AMEX now. They are creating a fraud investigation, more important to me, I have been told the charge would be reversed within 24 hours and they would continue to investigate. I have been promised a letter detailing the results of AMEX's investigation. At there suggestion, I cancelled my card and will receive a new card within 7 days. AMEX rep was amazed (said it was the first he's heard of this company) that while on hold I told me I found many others (FW'ers)who have been hit by ESTORESONLINE.

I have never bought anything from Page computers or estore. I don't know who they are?!

Nothing from ESTOREONLINE, but I did have an odd charge 7/9 for $37.48 with "Internet Stores" in INDIANAPOLIS IN on my AMEX Blue.

I didn't think much of it at the time - I buy so much stuff online - but I just sent a request to AMEX to look into it.

Curious if anyone else has had this - or knows what "internet stores" is.

degeester,

I'd be curious to see what this AMEX letter reveals...you'll have to keep us updated. You'd think after TWO of the same fraudulent charges they'd somehow flag the vendor and inform their reps. In our case, since it's a corporate purchasing card, I was able to get a replacement overnighted free of charge. (I'm sure this is only because it's a corporate card, but it's worth a shot if anyone else is in the same boat we are).

I have an AMEX platinum/Costco corporate card which was charged $8.99 on 8/20/05 and $15.99 on 9/16/05, both from estoreonline. Just got off the phone with AMEX supervisor who advises they have no knowledge of this being a bogus/fraudulent vendor. Told her I was concerned about AMEX being unaware, and about this entity having my account information, and should AMEX shut them down, they might open up tomorrow as fstoreonline, then gstoreonline, whatever. I had the card number permanently retired; AMEX is overnighting me a 30 day temporary card, and the permanent one will arrive in 7-10 days. Of course, the two charges were reversed. No connection to Page Computer that I know of. I did purchase an HP laptop from Costco online around August 10.

I checked my AMEX, and there was a charge of $8.99 there. Called AMEX, and was told charge would be removed. Also, account alert was set up to prevent this store from charging any charges again to my AMEX. I asked her if this store keeps doing this to many people, can AMEX do anything? She said she would send a note to supervisor, and she mentioned this is kind of ongoing thing, one of her friends got a charge a few years ago to her VISA or MC by the same merchant.

Wonder if we should alll file a complaint to CA attorney general's office.

I was hit on 8/23 for 9.95 by a different vendor:

KC SOFTWARECOM LLC 509-4611556 NY Standard Purch 9.95

I'm wondering if this is a SuperMediaStore purchase issue thru Yahoo, actually.

Those talking about charges they think are related to this merchant but are unsure, look at the trend from those saying they are from this place:
They all are x.99 8.99, 15.99 etc etc.

Its scary, but someone somewhere got compromised. Hope everyone gets their money back w/o issue, and someone finds the true identity of this place. Do the math, we got 15-18 people * 9 bucks, thats $140 minimum from just FW.

Think if there are what, 1-2 million AMEX holders with this charge. Easy money, small charge, goes under the radar, and someone makes bank. Most people would look at a $9 charge and go, huh, musta did that, since its not a "major purchase" I probably forgot all about it.

I didn't get hit with ESTOREONLINE, but over the weekend my card was charged by Franklin Covey Catalog Sales for $18XX. Like the OP, the card they charged is one I never use. I called AMEX and they couldn't open an investigation on it yet because it hadn't officially posted to my account.

I would urge EVERYONE to go request their credit reports immediately from the appropriate (legal) web site (since it is now free to everyone in the US).

Since something obviously got hacked, they probably don't just have your AMEX number they may very likely have enough information to create fraudulent credit under your name.

Request your reports NOW. Either all 3 at once, or at the very least request the first one, then wait a few months and request the next one from the next company, since you are limited to 1 a year per company.

FBI notified yet? I'm interested in seeing who the hacker is.

ROTFLOL. If only....

All of you who have a bogus charge on your card need to request a new card number from American Express! it's not enough for AMEX to simply reverse the charge or "block" that specific vendor from charging your account again. Your card number was probably stolen, maybe even in the April CardSystems breach, and could easily get exploited in other ways until canceled.

My card (AMEX) had the same place; random $8 charge.

I'm not understanding what good it would do us to get our credit reports. I personally monitor my report through freecredit report.com. I get my new report every few days. It only monitors experian. I guess I'm wondering, would I be able to tell whats going on from that information without having the other reports. And also, I'm wondering, lets say something is there, Even if I protest the item and get it removed, whats to prevent there from being another inquiry. And another after that and so on just as fast as I protest them if not faster. I fully agree that I will probably need to call in and get a new CC number. I'm personally thinking that our issue here is someone stole some credit card numbers (as we know AMEX was breached a bit ago, as was previously posted) and with those they can make purchases. However I am doubting they have our ssn's and such to open new accounts. Otherwise would it not have made more sense for them to open accounts that we have no knowledge of and make purchases, rather than charging purchases onto our cards that we do know of and do look at the statements for. Does my logic make any sense. if not, please tell me what I'm missing here. thanks

Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and just use one of the reports (allows you 3 a year Transunuion, Experian and Equifax - Don't do them all at once!)
FYI Experian showed AMEX first (alphabetical order) and mine is closed, as it should be .

alert mods

Are all those with the charges using AMEX Blue card or some other AMEX branded card? I only saw one post for AMEX Gold Business Card. Any others?

For those who made a purchase at a yahoo store and were affected, did you happen to fill out the survey thing at the end of your payment from the yahoo store in question? I've heard bad bad things about that particular item, although I can't remember the exact wording now.
