I got the 25 dollar bonus, and the 35 dollar bonus for two accounts, opened within a week of each other. Both posted on 10/17/05.
Thats $50 for the checking account bonus, and now $60 total for 2 savings accounts.. plus a pretty decent interest rate!
Wow, you got $25 and $35 bonus under the same name?

For whatever reason, when signing up for HSBC online savings account, it won't let me enter the routing number -- I enter the 9-digit value and it must not recognize it because it keeps asking me for a value. Any ideas anyone? |

Got my $35 savings bonus right away but not the $50 checking bonus. CSR claims I'll get it after 35 days from date account was opened.
I also couldn't link my Ing account to HSBC. HSBC did not recognize the routing number for ING. I was able to link all my other accounts including Emigrant direct. |

Yup - kinda weird. I called the CSR and was told the same thing. Oh well...my other checking account will have to do then. |

I am trying to create the Security Key, which is required before I can set up Bank to Bank Transfer. I used the correct ATM number but their website keeps saying 'Invalid ATM number', and therefore I was unable to create the Security Key. Anyone else have this problem? |

I don't know why so many people say the phrase "ATM Machine" or "PIN Number" or even "the reason is because."
These are all examples of improper English people! The acronym ATM stands for Automated Teller Machines and therefore already incorporates the word "machine" in it. So whenever you say "ATM machine," you are actually implying "Automated Teller Machine Machine" and that just sounds, well, uneducated in my (not so humble) opinion.
Same goes for "PIN Number." PIN stands for Personal Identification Number and if you say "PIN Number," you are saying "Personal Identification Number Number" (and that simply sounds stupid).
The phrase "the reason is because" is wrong in that when you say "the reason is," the structure of that phrase implies that you will state the reason after you say those three words (e.g. "The reason is [that I hate him]" as opposed to "The reason is [because I hate him]"). So the word "because" is simply redundant in this context, which is why you probably won't see "The reason is because" in a textbook or spoken by a hihgly educated person. The only times you would see it would be during some movie with some ignorant actor/actress in it and some layman who does not know proper English grammar.
I think i've said enough. |

In recent news, President Bush said "...Hispanically speaking....". This is "Finance Forum", not "English grammar" forum. Save your "strict" English rules for your classes, where you HAVE to get an A. We all come here for other purposes, including hot deals and sound "finance advices/tips". |
