Thanks OP, as I was able to easily convert my Platinum Select Card to the mtvU.
My question is, has anyone noticed anything besides the card-defined criteria (and Amazon) that qualifies for the 5 ThankYou points for every dollar spent? Or any places that did NOT qualify for the 5 TYP and you feel should have? I feel such feedback would be very helpful for others using the card. Perhaps we could update the quick summary with this info? |

so far it's worked perfectly for me.
I've used it at bars, restaurants, movie theaters, and book stores (barnes + noble). |

My campus bookstore is coded as "ORGANIZATION: COLLEGES,UNIVERSITIES,PROFESSIONAL" instead of "Bookstore." However, I think most campus bookstores are coded as bookstores. |

Is it confirmed that non-school related Amazon sales are good for 5%? Or does it remain assumption. |

If I added up my points correctly last month, I was only credited 1% for purchasing MS Money through Amazon.com. |

I get 5 points from Amazon, otherwise I wouldn't be getting as many bonus points as it list. The bulk of my purchases were from Amazon, followed by BN.com (which did not earn me bonus points, grr), and then fast food places. There are 2 types of Amazon payments,
AMZ*Amazon Payments AMZN.COM/BILLWA <-I think this is if you order from a 3rd party merchant on Amazon
AMZ*SUPERSTORE AMZN.COM/BILLWA <-This is direct from Amazon and nets the bonus points |

I think BarnesandNoble.com is available through Citi's ThankYou Network. +3 points/dollar according to the ThankYou Merchants page. |

You can get 7% back if you use the Discover card and their link in addition to their ordinary CashBack bonus. |

It's charged seperately. On the other hand, in my experience both charges counted as 5% Cash Back, though they were for "used" books (the charge is listed exactly the same though). |

The best thing about this card is that every bar I've been to so far counts as a 5pt/$1 purchase.
Just ordered my first $50 GC after 3 months of use. |

Items are charged as they ship so they would show up seperately... Either way Amazon stuff should show with the bonus points, I haven't bought a single book from them in the past 6 months. I made some purchases at BN.com that were actually all books, no bonus it seems for those though. (subtracted my non-bonus purchases and the BN.com purchase, ended up at the same number of bonus points and dollars)... |

Now my question is have any of you tried to buy Amazon gift certificates with your mtvU card and see if you get the 5 points per buck? If so you could use that loophole to get 5 points per buck on everything on Amazon.com.
The downside to doing this is that you won't get the A9 discount. So if you're redeeming your points for Amazon gift certificates it's more like 4.67% CashBack not 4.75%
Edit: A9 discount actually applies before gift certificates it seems... |
