Wow thanks!

At least all the ING diehards still have their pretty orange interface.

I would think that ING has lost a trememdous amoutn of business to ED and others as well.

Number of customers and amount on deposit up significantly in 2005.

actually I don't see that at ED or HSBC. ING does allow parents to open custodial accounts.

From the linked thread a few posts up:

You can look up or verify ACH routing numbers at Routingtool.com

It's free to look up one number at a time.

This is what they said when I search for ING Direct...

OK. I just opened a new account with EmigrantDirect. Y’all convinced me. The Fed just raised the interest rate earlier this week, so I expect interest rates will go up a little bit everywhere soon, but ING seems to be lagging behind for whatever reason. I refinanced my house with ING a couple of years ago. It was very painless compared to past experiences. I didn’t have to keep nagging them, and I only had to sign a few papers in the abstract office, and I was out of there in 30 minutes. On the other hand, I hate logging in to their site even though they claim they are the “industry-leader in privacy and security.” It won’t let my browser remember my account number or PIN, and so I keep it taped to my monitor. Think about it. Based on my account number, I can guess someone else’s. The PIN has to be a number between 0000 and 9999. Then the security question (zip code, SSN, year of birth, etc) has only so many number combinations as well. Statistically, I think it would be more secure with a regular username and password using letters and numbers and would definitely be more customer-friendly.

Yes I didn't think many other than ING allowed those. Or we would have moved the money in the name of our daughter to ED.

Vow !!! whopping .10 % increase. Here goes all my money out of it....

I took it back. I spoke to another rep and he said you can't do that. So I guess I will keep the custodial accounts at ING.

ED does not have referral bonus.

ED does have a referal bonus

OK good to know. I may go with HSBC anyway. They have $25 sign up bonus and they have a little bit more service than ED.

ditto.

well, enough is enough, 4.00% is the magic # for me, my cash is outta there.

I've been with ING Direct for almost 4 years, and I have been very happy with their service. I therefore couldn't bring myself to leave them for Emigrant Direct (although I've had a metlife money market open for a while) -- for the reason that it usually had approx. the same rate as ING plus the ATM Card / Check writing privleges

Well, I just opened the ED account, linking my ING and I will send all my money there. Being more than a half of percentage point was just too great to ignore anymore. This last 0.1% raise was insulting - as I expected them at a minimum to be at 3.5 (hoping for 3.75ish)

dagger007 said:How many FW people have an account with one dollar in it because they moved everything to ED? That distorts the numbers.

Heh. Two accounts with $0.01 each at ING.

alert mods

This is it for me. Been watching emigrant for a while expecting them to slow down. But compared to ING they get better and better.

alert mods

I just wrote ING Direct a long email explaining my loyalty to the bank in the past, but how I can no longer standby with Emigrant Direct outperforming them by so much ratewise

I'll let you know what i get back
