There is a once-in-a-lifetime rule for the DeltaAMEX sign-up bonus. So if you have ever participated in ANY one of these, you won't get another bonus (but you will get another card!)
Of course, you significant other can do this if they never did one before.
good info, do you know how far back they check whjen you say "lifetime"? i think my mom did this 8-9 years ago id be surprised if they still have that on record

I've been able to get bonuses for the initial personal card, upgrades to gold and then platinum. Also got a full sign-up bonus for opening a separate business card last year. With Delta now in bankruptcy and the card less attractive, don't be so sure the "old" rules still apply.

What will the fees be for the "free" ticket?
i've booked a few free tickets <edit>ONLINE - add'l fees for phone bookings</edit> recently... all from just airline (not cc) miles. i assume the same as you about combining...
united $25 (9/11 + stick it to you fee) Delta & northwest $10 (9/11 fee)
Is it correct that you need at least 25,000 miles to get a free ticket to fly within the US? How can you get an additional 5,000 miles? It looks like you have to spend $5 on this card in order to get it...

25k miles within the continental US and to Canada, 35k miles to Hawaii. Delta gives you 1k miles as a bonus if you book award tickets online, so you effectively need only 24k miles for the ticket.
If you have applied this card before, you will NOT get the miles. I had this card before & after a bunch of calls, they told me that i had a similar card before and hence i am not eligible.

I doubt they have a record of that promotional offer. I signed up for an AMEX Gold in May 2006 for 25,000 point promo. As of last week I had never received the promotional points. After being transfered from an AMEX CSR to a Gold Card CSR to a Reward CSR to a Promo CSR they supposedly had NO record of the promotional offer.

You have to have the full 25k to book a ticket. If you have, say, 24,500 miles you cannot book an award ticket. If you have 25,000 miles, you can book an award ticket, and the 1000 bonus miles will only show up in your account after you complete your award flight.
