Thanks dolmar, although it isn't Penfed, it is reassuring that banks don't conveniently tap savings account that willingly. Similar experience when my Fleet card was compromised, received a call from Fleet that my card was used fraudulently, didn't see the charges appear on my account at all, signed an affidavit saying I didn't make those charges, didn't hear about it again. |

okay, you need to stop confusing fraud with default.
if you have fraud on your credit card, none of your other account will likely be touched at all.
your account might be frozen if you default and dont pay your account with YOUR charges.
stop being so paranoid, you are being redicilous. |

Ok, I think my fears are adequately quelled thanks to fellow FWers here. Heard it briefly mentioned awhile ago on FW (that it is not good to have both loans and savings accounts at the same institution), didn't think much of it until I read it under the dotted line. Sorry for taking your thread OT. |

Found out that I am getting an additional 1% at WalMart stores only for the next 6 months. So my advice is run a few charges and call up to verify the extra 1%. What a strange bonus. |

I have two cash rewards cards, with one of them having just been paid off recently. I called and asked for retention, and was trasferred. I first asked for my first card, was offered 4.99% for life, or if I am willing to switch to the plain platinum card, I will get 12/15 months with $300 in purchase. I did have some dividend on that card, so I asked about offer for my other card (which just had a huge balance paid to $0). I got the same offer on that as well, so I took the 0%. Then the rep turned around and try to offer me 2% on the original card for 3 months. I tried to push for higher Cash Back rate using my MBNA 2%, but the bes t that he could do was to extend it to 6 months.
Tip/Info: - You will need to convert to plain ATT platinum card, even if you already have a ATT CashBack card, for the 0%. - Push for the 2% Cash Back to be extended to 6 months. - The 12 months 0% starts at the date of transfer, and it would also show up on your account online, so there is no need to do the BT right away. - The rep said that he is of the undertanding that I have to do the BT before the $300 purchase to qualify for the 15 months 0%, which contradicts OP (although it didn't sound like the rep was sure of this). - I could do the BT until Jan 6, 2005, given that I called today. |

I have a platinum select card and was told I did not qualify for retentions. I casually mentioned that I'm looking to lower my interest rate and was told by friends that retentions could do that. The helpful csr said they might be able to (but I didn't hear it from him) and transferred me over ANYWAYS! Got the 0% for 12 month offer by switching cards (to Simplicity). All info stays the same. Just need to complete BT by 1/27/06 by calling. BT extended 3 mo with $300 purchase by 3/2/06. Saw the updated card info today online.
Thanks, OP. |
