When can I reapply the new account?
I may need them in Costoco.

Go get a Citibank AMEX.

why wouldn't it? It's an AMEX, only difference is that it is not issued by AMEX

What happens if you send them false statements?

I mean, they don't have any special authorization to access your bank/tax/employment records.

Is it within our rights as customers to lie?

As a practical matter, if you dont default, nothing bad will happen to you.

If you do default, youre going to have a hard time getting that debt wiped out in BK.

Man. AMEX chose me for financial review today. I am so lucky. I charge a ton of money each money, but I don't have the income proof to back it up. Any advice?

I have about 130k pending MR points. What happens if they decide to close?

can you post which cards you have with them?

i have read (on creditboards.com) that a mixture of CHARGE cards (platinum, gold) and CREDIT cards will strike a FR with AMEX

Gold Charge Card (about 8 months; one with $85 annual fee)
SPG (about half a month)
Business Plat (about 12 months; the free one)

I recently made a purchase from Canada and it was in Canadian dollars. That must of been it. Damn Canadians got me caught....

Hope I don't get reviewed. I've been a cardmember for almost 10 years, most of them with the platinum charge, usually spend about $10k a month, never late. Used to have the business gold a few years ago, and did the cardmember online app for another business gold (now that I actually have use for it) and was supposed to get a decision in 1 minute. App said I'd get snail mail or a phone call in 8 bus. days.

How many of you people with AMEX business cards actually, you know...own a business? I've seen several people alluding to not actually having one.

do you sell on eBay to make a profit (not just to sell your old stuff you dont use anymore)?

Guess what? Thats a business.

I've seen people go to prison for doing this for mortgages. They get hit with fraud, mail fraud and usually another charge for defrauding a Federally-related mortgage lender. Of course, the odds of AMEX coming after you are much slimmer than an institutional mortgage lender.

They may reduce your credit lines, but at least they'll leave your account open. What do you have to lose?

My dignity? Jk

I am going to comply, but I feel that they will close my account anyways. I don't really mind a reduction on my CL. A slap on the wrist is fine with me.

They wanted me to fill out some form from irs.gov, which I have yet to do.

edit: I can cash out those points at this very moment if I wanted, but I don't feel that I can get the most out of them at this point in time.

I don't work for or have AMEX, but I dealt with people who are AMEX cardholders. Last time that heard about it was a while back so my apologies if I'm not completely accurate. The purpose of the review is verifty "financial stability." Usually they ask for quite a few documents: last year's income tax return first 2 pages plus Schedule C, if applies. Also if I remember correctly they asked for last 2-3 months of wages and the couple months of bank statements. The necessary documents had to be provided within 14 or 15 days and then AMEX would make a decision. I dealt with one lady, who was promised that she'll be notified of AMEX decision, so in case decision is not what she was hoping for, she then would have an option to cancel the card herself. However, when she called the CSR told her that it was not reflected in the notes and that card would be cancelled by AMEX. As far as I know if you carry a balance - you would be able to make payments just like before the account was cancelled, that's probably the only positive thing...
I believe that oftentimes it's better to cancel the card on your own then wait for AMEX to close it for you: less stress and negative information on your credit report.

P.S. I'm not 100% sure about, but as far as I remember in one of the cases the review was triggered because the AMEX cardholder was making payments from several banks...
