I have this strange question --
what happens after you have this program for 3 months.
For example, your purchase is 2.05.....According to BoA, during the first 3 months they will charge the full $3 and then move the remaining 0.95 to your savings because it's at 100%.
What happens if you make the same purchase 3 months later? It's 5%...so does that mean BoA keeps the majority of the 9x cents of the difference? oh well. thanks for reading this post. |

No.
During the first 3 months u buy 2.05 - they move .95 to ur savings account. Then next year that .95 is matched with another .95 - up to the $250 limit.
After 3 months - they move .95 to ur savings account. Then next year they match 5% of that .95 - again subject to the overall $250 limit.
You never lose the .95 cents - and they never really charge you the full $3 - it's just a shell game amongst your accounts. That's why there's no cost to this as long as you would have spent the 2.05 anyways.
Note - the hassle of keeping bofa checking and savings accounts is the biggest cost of this for me - got both for promos but would have closed them if not for this offer. |

Has anyone else noticed it's very easy to pay a cable bill with a debit card - done a score or so 1.01 payments to a major cable company?
Easy enough GUI and can do 4-5 in a minute.
Oops noticed johto beat me to it on this - back in the first few pages. Sorry.
Nice of you to say so ETFnerd - thank you. |

This offer does require both a checking and a savings account. BofA's "MyAccess Checking" account is fee-free with DD. Their "Regular Savings" account is fee-free if you set up at least one regular monthly automatic transfer from checking (of at least $25.00). Easy enough to transfer it back again each month. No minimum balances, except you need to keep enough in checking to cover that automatic transfer as well as the purchases and the "change."
The first three months are great; you can buy something for 10 cents, they move the 90 cents change from your checking account to your savings account and at the end of the year they match that 100% with another 90 cents. That's a 900% rebate -- sounds good to me! You don't have to try to max it out and score $250 for the year; just get in the habit of buying some small item on the debit card everywhere you go. A 50-cent purchase would yield a 100% rebate; even a $20.19 purchase would give a 4% rebate.
Even after the first three months, if you make a 10-cent purchase, at year's end they'll still ante up 5% of the 90 cents change. They'll probably round it down to 4 cents -- but still, 40% rebates are nice. The $1.01 gas purchases would no longer be worthwhile, though, as you can get a full 5% rebate on these (with no 1099) from many CCs.
So it all depends on your "hassle tolerance," whether this is worthwhile for you or not. |

Ditto for me Received an email next day stating I was enrolled: Dear XXXXX,
Thank you for contacting Bank of America.
Congratulations! You are now enrolled in Keep the Change.
Now everything you buy can easily build your savings, one purchase at a time.
How you Keep the Change. At the end of each business day, the total of your debit card round ups will be transferred to your selected savings account. Round up amounts for a day will be added together and will appear on your statement or Online Banking as a single transfer per day.
How we will match your savings. For the first three months, we will match your Keep the Change savings at 100 percent. When three months are over, we will continue contributing 5 percent a year, every year.
Matching funds are paid annually, up to a maximum of $250 within 8 weeks after the anniversary date of enrollment for accounts that remain open and enrolled. Savings accounts eligible to receive matching funds include Regular Savings, which requires a minimum opening deposit of $100 and pays a variable annual percentage yield. Fees could reduce earnings. |

Notice how it says within 10 business days. Just so your not caught by surprise, it could very well take effect much sooner.
