HSBC takes 3-4 business days for ACH to go thru, a bit slow since they take the money next business day but you don't earn any intrest for another couple of days.
How fast is the ACH with GMAC? Is there a limit to the linked accounts? HSBC doesn't seem to have a limit.
I don't know about the number of linked accounts, but GMAC is one of the fastest at ACH transfers that I have seen. I have initiated two pulls from ED to GMAC and both were completed in exactly one business day and the funds were immediately available. |

WORNG, try again now and you will see how many more days needed for the funds to be available. |

My bad, the funds were available the day AFTER the transfer.

Is anyone else having problems logging into their GMAC account? I keep getting an error message of "We are unable to process your request at this time. Please contact Customer Care at 1-866-2GMBank for assistance." I don't think its my account as its letting me change my password and stuff. Just not login. |

Still down for me. I called them this afternoon and they confirmed it was down earlier in the day. Anyway, I still can't get in. |

I am still down also. Not too happy about it. In fairness, this is the first issue I have had with GMAC in the 3+ years I have had them. |

Im thinking about the demand notes. 5.5 vers 4.3% might be worth it.
I realize they are not FDIC insured, but GMAC aint going anywhere.
And has anyone ever not gotten their money when the wanted it from them ?

Their site is still down for me. Called customer service and they say they are aware of the problem but couldn't give me an idea when it would be resolved. I now have been unable to access my account since Friday afternoon. I am horrified at how long this has been going on. I am sure there are plenty of customers that need to be able to transfer funds and are unable to due to this. As soon as their site is back up I think I am going to transfer almost everything back to HSBC. |

That is strange, I have not only logged in, but I've transferred funds. It's not been down for me at all. |

They told me it's only effecting a portion of their customer base so I guess you are just one of the lucky ones. |

Still down for me also. I believe you can transfer funds over the phone if need be. |

Why ? I would think a small investors demand note would be the LAST thing they would not pay.
Is it really junk status ?

Yes, GMACBank's parent company GM is under serious financial pressure and might declare bankruptcy in the next year. That is some serious risk for only 5.5%. It might be worth considering if it paid out more. The demand note might be one of the last instruments of debt that they pay back. You have to own stock in GM - and I think being a related party to a corp puts you in a lower tier for debt repayment priority. I'm not a bankruptcy expert and could be wrong.
The other thing to consider is... would the US let GM go bankrupt and dissolve? Highly unlikely. They would probably offer GM a package and bail them out like Chrysler. fw201 said:Why ? I would think a small investors demand note would be the LAST thing they would not pay.
