No bonus here. I opened an account in the middle of September. Probably I'll wait 10 more days to give them the whole 45 days and then I'll start calling. Actually, the DM100 code looked suspicious for me from the beginning. At the time I was applying HSBC website wasn't showing any promotion under that code. I applied because someone wrote that the website was not up to date and it doesn't provide info on all current promotions. One way or the other, the more we remind HSBC about DM100 the better out chances to get the bonus.
I got a letter saying that I would not receive the bonus because I had not applied before the deadline (I actually did it a week before).
HSBC seems sketchy to me because of this.

Sketchy because they did not give you the bonus, or had the decency to write that you did not qualify. In my eyes, ignoring it and not keeping the customer informed is sketchy and not the other way around.

I tried that code, too -- nothing, yet. At the time, I did enter the code into the "code check" box on their main page and it said that it was an invalid code. I'm not holding my breath on this one.

I finally called them because it said my application needed more information and they would either e-mail me or call me and I didn't hear from them for 2 weeks. The CSR said they were still reviewing my application and would contact me and why didn't I go ahaed and send in the deposit. I declined sending them a check that had no where to go so she told we to just keep waiting. I assume the problem was I lost my wallet a few months ago so I have an alert on my credit report.

I used the DM100 code and Customer Service gave me the same response about waiting about a week to receive the bonus. The rep was able to check my account and confirm the bonus (unless he was just BS'ing to get rid of me).
We'll see...

I just called and waited. CSR confirmed that DM100 was a valid code when I opened my account in mid-September. He said that they would need information from their initial mailing to post the bonus to my account. So, if you did not receive the invitation and you just tried to apply the code like I did, it is not going to work!

Wow - that is strange.
I waited for 45 days and used the bankmail (on their site) and emailed customer service and politely said i am still waiting for the bonus. I said DM100 is the code I used. This was a week ago, after 2 days got a reply stating that they have forwarded the request to their online banking team. Yesterday got a credit for 35 bucks to my online saving account. The entry was just 'MISCELLANEOUS'
Hope this helps - you should try the online customer service....

I called the bank yesterday asking for DM100 bonus, and was told that they cannot give me 50(?!) bucks. I was telling that it was not 50 bucks, but they were not listening. The last word from a manager was: "I've never heard of 50 dollar bonus, but we are giving you $25(?!)". As of today, the $25 are already in my account, reported as "MISCELLANEOUS".

I got an email from 'Suzette' about the bonus, she said I must have the coupon to get my credit. I verified the bonus code with hsbc customer service before I used it, from her email I will not. It was a scam and I'd like to know how some of you got it?

I just called the CS and asked about the bonus. He told me that 'DM100' is not HSBC promotion. But anyway, he'll credit my account $35 as a courtesy from HSBC =)))

I get the impression they are playing games. I have called numerious times and am given a different story (wait 35 days, wait 45 days, it's on the way....)
Ummmm. It's not like we can report them but how do we play their game when they have all the cards?
I found out if you close the acct before 6 months, $25 penalty. Also, if you make no transactions in first 3 months, the FREE checking is converted into a FEE checking. Wow. Looks to start at $3/month in fees. So, I plan on sending a small amount each month to add to the account (as in $1).
Do you have any other thoughts on HSBS and their hard to get bonus?

I applied about two months ago with the DM100 code. After my account was opened, I called Customer Service and they reassured me I'd get the bonus within 30 - 45 days.
So I e-mailed to find out what's going on and here's the response I got:
"In response to your inquiry, referencing to the credit towards your account, please provide a copy of the solicitation that you received and please note, once this information is reviewed, your account may be credited.
Please feel free to fax the copy to 716-841-6972, ATTN: Suzette, and indicate your account number.
If you have any questions, please send an email to newrequest@www.banking.us.hsbc.com or call 1-888-404-4050.
Thank you for choosing HSBC for your financial needs."
"Dear ********,
My Manager and I have reviewed all aspects of your account and your application and, unfortunately, we are unable to credit any bonus monies to your account.
I apologize for any inconveniences this has caused."
SCAMMERS! Now they're welching on giving the bonus, asking me to produce the solicitation of the offer and mail it to them. How can I since the offer was made on their own damned Web site and the promo code was automatically entered during the application process?

You my friend - needs to clear your mind
1. This discussion is for Online Savings Account (DM100 code for 35.00 bonus) 2. Online Savings Account do not have any fee oe restriction 3. You are confusing this with the Free Checking (BCARD code for 50.00 bonus)
The fee schedule and the transaction for 3 months have all be discussed in the corresponding threads (about the HSBC Free Checking). Please serach for those posts and read them (for you will find what others are doing to do a transaction once in 3 months).

Wait a second there was no promotion on the site about DM100 - it was a code that some one found and if put in the HSBC site would say about the 35.00 bonus cash. This code was then given out here on fatwallet - now tell me how the promo code was automatically entered during the application process. There is no way for that - you entered it on your own.
I used the same code around the same time and got the bonus, so all I can say is there is something more to the story or you are just out of luck. Sorry.

Wrong. I didn't enter a code during the online application... I went to the main page on the Web site for the Online Savings account, where it mentioned the $35 bonus and when I started the application, the promo code was filled in automatically.

I agree. I saw the $35 bonus on the site and it was entered by them.
I've asked them and they agree that I am signed up for the $35 bonus, just need to wait.

I filled in the DM100 code manually on my app. I emailed them today through the internal Bankmail system and will report back with my success/failure. I haven't deposited anything other than the opening $1 in this account but I don't think this should affect my chances of getting the bonus.

HSBC pulled the same thing on me and refused to budge after several phone calls. They won't respond to threats to close your account either (I tried, and they'll only be to happy to close your acct).
So I filed a consumer fraud complaint with my State Attorney General's office. The way they handled it really ticked me off and now it's about the principle ... let them deal with the AG.
I'm happy to report I received a call from HSBC's Executive Offices and spoke with a nice woman who said the credit was applied today (and should show up tomorrow in the acct). She was, I think, a vice-president of such and such and the first thing she mentioned was receiving my complaint forwarded by the Illinois Attorney General's office.
