Sure thing. The best resource I found is here. It looks like pulls may not be 100% consistent within issuers and may depend on the actual card applied for. The bad news for me is that the big issuers that pull Equifax seem to be AMEX, HSBC, and GEMB. I don't need store credit or a secured card -- and I'm just getting back in AMEX's good graces after a debacle while I was in law school (which was removed from my credit reports). |

This is mostly a bump. I just spent quite a bit of time editing the Quick Summary (as thanks for the brilliant AOR info and other gems at FW finance).
In addition to new formatting (feedback welcome), I added fields such as: - App-o-rama notes (primarily the number of cards from each issuer that's likely to be approved) - BT to LOC w/ app (tricky since many lines of credit don't have a 15-16 digit credit card number, and useful as part of the application since it probably yields a higher credit limit) - names of some of the personal & business cards (and former companies or brands) - Co-branded cards (to help avoid applying for too many from the same issuer during an AOR)
Other information that might be useful: typical BT fee, best offers for existing cardholders, plus filling in lots of the blanks (e.g. here's an easy task for lurkers: add more co-branded cards, e.g. via CardOffers or http://www.creditcardoffersa-z.com (I think I covered Bank of America, and I added a few for others.)
(I'll also throw in a question for forum regulars: what do folks think of adding a glossary thread? I'd be happy to start it -- but don't want to do so if it would instantly draw lots of red for reasons that I've missed.) |

Updated AMEX CLI info in the quick summary. CLIs are allowed every 30 days not every 6 months. |

I didn't research US Bank since the CC has a 3% BT fee with NO CAP. The 0% offer is only for 6 months, so the card is worthless for an AOR.
See http://www.usbank.com/cgi_w/cfm/credit/ns2_0.cfm which links to https://applications.usbank.com/oad/catalog/terms.controller?step=display&locationCode=8069&productId=20 |

There was a 0% for 12 months no fee from USBank (phone/mail app only)... it came in one of those coupon mailers. I'd dig up the code, but I am pretty sure it expired 12/31. |

I updated the quick summary to note that I received a new WaMu card with a $30k credit line. I had requested about $32k in balance transfers (0%, 18 months, no fee, targeted offer) and they transfered 29k and left 1k open on the credit line.
I also tried to consolidate this line with another wamu line I had (old providian card with $17.5k cl) and they said it could not be done. |

Can someone with permission update the OP? I just did a BT with my new Discover Gas Card into my checking account. I didn't request the BT at the time of the application. I asked about it when I called to activate my card. I didn't plan on requesting one, because in the application there was a BT fee. Once they said there is no BT fee and 0% APR on BT's until March 08, I jumped on it.
This was my first BT, so I was a little worried about it not actually going through, but after a couple of weeks, the money finally showed up. They butchered the name of my bank, which worried me about them actually approving the deposit, so I called my bank and gave them the heads up on what had happened.
Let me know if any other details about the BT are needed to make the change to the OP.

Bump. I made lots of misc. updates to the Quick Summary, including an attempt to extract info. from several related threads (linked at the bottom of the QS). Substituting CC Issuer for the field labels, here's an extract:
BT to checking _____: Advanta _: yes, gave them my checking account and routing #s over the phone (1/30/07) AMEX ____: no BoA _____: yes (by phone) CapOne __: yes (During initial card sign up over the phone, check sent in mail to CU - byex0039) Chase ___: usually NOT within first 3 months (exception: Chase Perfectcard in March 2005 -s0meguy) Citi ____: yes with checks (CSR says they don't do ACH anymore, 1/22/07) Discover : maybe (YES - my BT on Gas Card to checking just went through) - brettdacosta Elan ____: no (at least, not PNC card) FNB Omaha: no, but will send BT check of up to $11,000 HSBC ____: yes "allows BT directly to a checking account (of course, as long as it's not an HSBC Bank account) " - crix2001 on 1/13/06 Juniper _: no RBS _____: yes (via checks)

CLI w/o hard pull __: AMEX ____: yes (online, with generous increases) BoA _____: "always a soft pull" (fafura on 2007-04-07) but YMMV Chase ___: not possible, but if denied online may get approved by calling (while the credit report is still on file) Citi ____: when requesting online, if it does NOT ask you to fill out a form, then it gets approved with only a soft inquiry (if it does present the form, just cancel to avoid the hard inquiry) Discover : can ask for immediate by phone (soft pull); if that's not enough can ask for reconsideration (hard pull; and my result in a lower offer!); over $15K may require a hard pull (dlr3) US Bank _: by phone
Time between CLI ___: AMEX ____: 30 days BoA _____: 1 week (ask for $500 or $1000); http://www.fatwallet.com/t/52/671714/9768099; earlier report: 9 months CapOne __: no CLI requests, auto only (except via retention; TBD: link to the thread) Citi ____: 1 month (dlr3); others report 6 months Discover : 3 months (dlr3); 6 months (unknown)

(though "combine credit lines" was shown as "yes" in a previous version; CardJuggler 12/26/06) Chase ___: yes (including personal/biz per this thread) Citi ____: yes, including business (therivler1 11/06); exceptions: Home Rewards (CardJuggler 12/06), Citi Professional and some branded cards such as Quicken, though some were able to move CitiBusiness to CitiProfessional; AT&T: some can't move credit line (e.g. http://www.fatwallet.com/t/52/632935/10444265), some can (e.g. http://www.fatwallet.com/t/52/237296/10445112) Discover : maybe (Yes: dr84, jimbocobb, CardJuggler 12/06) (NO: mhudson, Pakaderm) HSBC ____: yes for HSBC (Visa to Visa or MC to MC), no for GM (CardJuggler 12/06, at least between my old "GM Card" and new "GM Flex Card") Juniper _: yes. call 866.408.4064 to speak directly with the credit dept. RBS _____: no WaMu ____: no (CardJuggler 12/06: I spoke with 2 different reps though YMMV)
An aside: I wonder if it's worth prefixing every field with the CC issuer name to simplify this type of extract-and-sort? |

I used to work for US Bank and Elan, so in answer to the question in the quick summary, yes Elan is part of US Bank. For the most part, all the policies, fees, etc. are the same for US Bank and Elan cards. More experienced CSR's can field calls for both cards without missing a beat, although CSR's tend to be specialized to one or the other. Elan is "better" to work for, even though it's all in the same building, so you'll probably get a better CSR with Elan than US Bank, since everyone starts out doing US Bank calls and switches to Elan if they're good enough. The REI and Gymboree co-brands fall pretty much in line with the other US Bank cards as well, but they do have a couple co-brands (Northwest Airlines and Harley Davidson) that are on a separate system and can have some different policies.
Speaking more directly to the topic at hand, I'll try to do my best to remember everything, and this information may have changed:
To reach a human ___: I believe just keep hitting 0 after calling the number on your card Change card type ___: yes, though possibly not all permutations Reallocate CL ______: not through a CSR, I never saw it done but I imagine a supervisor could do it Max # of cards _____: not aware of a set limit, but I would guess there is one BT Checks __________: yes, most have fees but you could get some 0% ones if you're lucky (I think the welcome checks ALWAYS have a fee so you'd have to have the card for awhile before getting better checks) BT to checking _____: Not a direct BT but I think you can do it using the checks BT to LOC w/ app ___: not sure CLI w/o hard pull __: soft pull after 3 months, can ask online or over phone (also can get automatic increases); CSR can send request to credit dept for hard pull if desired Time between CLI ___: 3 months Co-branded cards ___: REI, Gymboree, Harley Davidson, Northwest Airlines |

NWA is on a separate system, and I never worked for the NWA card team, so I'm not sure what changes are possible for the NWA cards. In general I don't think you can switch between co-branded cards, but you can switch from one type of US Bank card to another very easily (like from a regular platinum to the cash rewards card). |

NJObserver - I just opened a HSBC Card account and also got the BT checks shortly after the new card arrived, however it was faster to just call the customer service number on the back of the card and HSBC will ACH the BT funds direct to your checking account (no check needed) - no wait for the check or possible check hold from your bank or credit union. |

I just called Discover. It's going to be 6 months in 5 days since I was approved for the card back in December. I couldn't resist the temptation so I called and requested a CLI. The lady then started reading a disclaimer stating that they were gonna pull my credit report, so I decided not to do it. I'll call back next week. I'll keep you posted. |
